  1. I too work in the insurance industry, however, I work in the legal claims and handle Motor Prosecution defence cases on a daily basis. (Those querying whether insurance is valid when drinking, the motor prosecution defence section definitely is otherwise it would be pointless having the cover) It is not so clear cut to say that Bannan will get 18 month ban and £500 fine. Many things will be taken into account, such as the effect of not driving would have on his life, how mcuh alcohol was in his blood stream, were there any mitigating circumstances etc. It will also depend on how good the solicitor is, there are varying tactics used to get people off cases, they query the way the alcohol reading was taken, the evidence that the CPS have and various other methods of reducing/avoiding bans. I have seen cases where people have been 3 times over the alcohol limit, speeding at 96mph and pulled by the police and they have managed to only get a three week ban.... All that being said it doesn't excuse the actions of Bannan. Good player who obviously needs a few life lessons. Hopefully this will mature him. Not a seriousness offence to be sacked from the club as some are suggesting, especially when facts are not known (whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty). Wise by club to suspend and investigate and will probably result in club fining him.
  2. His tackling is dangerous. Twice in the game yesterday he scissored...will end up getting sent off or injured. He needs to be taken out out of the team as unfortunatelty he isn't coping at present. Could still be a good player....but he needs to learn.
  3. Can't believe no one has put this up brilliant stuff...... Bestplayer.
  4. Getting stronger with each game and starts to dictate the pace that we play at. Delivery from set pieces is tremendous. There is still the odd tendancy to look for that killer ball every time, but that comes with experience (may also be him thinking he has to do something special to keep his place). Works hard and tracks back as well. Seems to be very well liked by the players especially the ones who have come through the ranks. Needs to play centrally and not out on the right, not sure whether this was an individual choice or how the team was set up, but there was a lot of space on Wigan's left yesterday.
  5. Good performance yesterday and for me MOTM, based on what he did second half. First half seemed to dwell on the ball a bit. Still made a couple of rash/speculative decisions rather than playing the simnple pass, but seemed to grow in stature as the game wore on. Still think he looks more comfortable in the middle than out wide, but I suppose it helps his learning curve. Obviously not the same kind of player, but it never did GB any harm playing on the wing. Showed a lot of calmness and belief in his ability with the penalty.
  6. Can't for the life of me understand why when we went 2 - 0 down vs bolton, he wasnt given the last 10 minutes run out....
  7. Out of curiosity why do you think it is a bad signing? If my memory serves me correctly we signed Yorke for the equilivant of a bag of balls, some cones and bibs (obvious exaggeration) and he turned out to be one of best players of the premiership era, if Enda is half as good we will be happy. This is just the type of signings needed to boost the squad. Wolves have done it with Jarvis, Kightly, Ward etc....just because they are not big names doesnt mean that they cant be useful squad players.
  8. Who got the 4th? as the ever efficient fa website states won 4-1 and only names 3 scorers + goals
  9. I'm not sure on that one to be honest, they were both like Makoun quite careless in possession last night at times. As for the comparison to Bannan, well if you want me to be critical of him I think he tries to do too much at times, he tries the killer ball too often which is why he gives it away. I can live with that though especially in a players so young. I think expectations are rightly totally different for Bannan to Ireland which is why their performances last night are viewed differently. Bannan is a young player making his way in the game, Ireland is an established PL player, a player who cost us circa £8m and a player who we've seen is capable of some pretty good football. So far we've not seen it, we've seen nothing of the form he showed for Man City a couple of years ago. So a performance like his last night, though an improvement on what he has done previously still falls a little short of expectations especially given the opposition. With Bannan on the other hand their aren't really the same expectations and as such is viewed differently. I don't agree. The cases of those two are different, they have both performed to the best of their abilities for the majority of their time at the club, the issue with these two is some people simply don't rate them as players which is fair enough. Those who don't rate them are never going to change their minds because these players have peaked, they are both in fact past their peaks and so aren't going to improve their performances greatly if at all. Ireland on the other hand hasn't even got close to his best football for us so I think there is every chance if he can find some decent form the vast majority of fans would change their view of him. I Agree with Trent's comments
  10. Wasn't impressed with him tonight...missed 2 sitters. And didn't seem to offer much. Very Laissez faire approach. Ran with the ball a couple of times and knocked a couple of balls about, but nothing special. He also made a couple of awful passes to players less than 5 metres away, in fact at one point played the ball over the top of clark who had to go go chasing back towards our own goal...
  11. I would like to see: Guzan Lichaj, Collins, Clark, Baker Makoun, Bannon Albrighton, Ireland, Nzog Delfounso. Should easily be enough to secure a 4/5 - 0 victory Hopefully, Nzog wont play full game, but get a bit more fitness for Wolves game
  12. Notice he didnt play for the reserves last night, if not injured wouldnt be surprised to see him on the bench tonight
  13. Showed yesterday whay you pay your money for. Even when it looked as if his touch had taken him too wide and wasted the opportunity. the finish to beat Robinson at the near post was fantastic. Guranteed to get goals and think once he gets an understanding with NZogbia we will get a great return from him.
  14. Started quietly and then then grew into game......looked a decent prospect but will still need more games. Deserved yellow card though, you just can't make scissor tackles like that..Needs to work on that area as could quiet easily get sent off which would cost us.
  15. For me its not the reason that McLeish is an ex blues manager that makes him a bad signing. I would be fine with the situation IF his credentials were good. The fact of the matter is though that his record isn't good, he plays negative football, sitting 11 men behind the ball, buying journeymen players, kicking all flair players and not bringing any youth through. Therefore not what the club needs. Hopefully Randy will realise this!!!

    Trains

There is a soccer bus running from to sandhill train station to the ground. You can get to sandhill from liverpool central station (2 min walk from lime st, also not far from concert square if drinking beforehand/after). Went to a few games when at uni (few yrs ago) as a neutral fan and never saw any trouble with home and away fans both on there.
  17. Just seen on the OS that this is a cup scheme game and we were charged for it on the 5 July, which I'm guessing is a mistake. Has any cup scheme members been charged or received the ticket? Or is this the free ticket that was mentioned when purchasing season tickets?
  18. For all the talk of a big name manager, I'm not sure that that would be the best for the club. Obviously the manager will need to work on a tight budget and therefore it would be best to have someone used to working like. I think Martinez could be good shout and he also gets his teams playing attractive football. I also think that Nigel Clough would be a good shout. Whoever it is we all love the Villa and will just have to support the boards decision and hope it is best for the club.
  19. I hope BB gets a run out in the side this year. Went to the Walsall game and looked very bright, always wanted the ball and willing to run at players.
  20. Signposted all the way apparently (25/30 min walk) and yeah I'm also heading for the Oyster Bar... I will be landing at Piccadilly for 1 ish. I hear ground is signposted, but what about Oyster bar? How do we get there?
  21. I thought the comparison stats with Valdes were actually from the first leg against inter.
  22. Ok so it seems the Oyster bar. So how do we get there from Picadilly station? How long is the walk? How long from there to the ground as I dont get to Manc til 12 ish.
  23. Would he cut the mustard in the prem?
