  1. Would disagree massively with this. Dunne is good for at least one massive f*ck up every game and it is pot luck in the PL whether you get away with it or not. Cuellar has been the model of consistency since he got over the shock of the difference in the game from Scotland and has been our best defender, IMO, for the past few years. I would say ALL our centre defenders can have strong games but are also prone to f**k ups that lead to goals...which is probably why they are playing for us rather than the top teams What? Do top teams never concede goals then? Isn't this just how football works? I think you have completely misconstrued my view. I'm not saying that the top teams don't concede goals, in fact I have said nothing of the sort. What I am saying is that defenders at top sides make less mistakes. Consistency helps seperate the top players from the average.

  3. I don't think he had a bad game. He started brightly, beating a couple of players a few times and passing the ball on. Faded as the game wore on, but this was more a reflection on City having all the possession. It doesn't help when the only time we were having the ball, it was aimed for the head of Heskey, and no ever challenging for the second it Heskey did win it. From the few glimpes I have seen of Gardner (Wolves game, few subs and Marsielle youth game) his main attributes are breaking into the box beyond the runs of the strikers. Not once did he even look like getting that far forward and that must be something he was told not to do.
  4. Can you do one similar to the mitre copiers lace up top?
  5. Hi I don't bet online, but wondering if anyone did and if so if anyone knew whether it was possible to bet on an individual team performance ie Man City to win the next 5 games... Many thanks in advance (Apologies if this is the wrong area or a thread is already set up, couldn't find anything)
  6. lmarsha - could you do a mock up Macron with a "tie up" collar ala mitre copier kit. Would be ace if we could bring that, loved those shirts....
  7. Why not It's a free game and they don't know him as well as they know our other players. His fearlessness might add some purpose to what could be an otherwise impotent Villa performance. I know some will say a bad loss could destroy him but I don't buy that. Players aren't that fragile. Who else do you put in there alongside Petrov. We don't really have a standout candidate IMV. I agree with this...Gardner has been captain of teams therefore he must have strong mental attributes about him, would be a good game to see him go. Albrighton's confidence was shaken after just one defeat, IMO it was shaken after losing his starting place and then only coming on for last few minutes of games where he then tried to overdo things to make a name for himself. Petrov and Clark just dont seem to offer much going forward when playing as a pairing. Unfortunately as Gardner played for reserves today would seem unlikely that he will start against city
  8. From what I remember (may be wrong, apologies if I am) a lot of the younger (bannan, albrighton, clark etc), continental (petrov) and attacking players (downing) quite liked Houllers style and did have respect for him. It was mainly the "old guard" (Dunne, Collins, Warnock) who were the ones who didn't like Houllier, it's funny that these are the ones who are still making basic errors week after week under AMC. The only other one who seemed to dislike Hou was Gabby, yes he would've been a loss from the team, but from what I recall Hou advised Gabby to lose some of the muscle so that he got back some of his pace. It seems to me, that over the summer Gabby has lost some muscle and therefore is quicker and sharper and hence why he started the season so well. I'm not saying Hou didn't have his faults as he obviously did. Anyway I shouldn't really be going on about an ex manager so i'll stop now
  9. Not saying he is going to the worlds best player, or even the teams saviour, however, I like the look of him. He is the first midfielder that we have had for a good few yrs (probably looking at Ian Taylor as the last one) who is willing to make a run beyond that of the strikers and get onto balls. Could be very important for the future of the team.
  10. Was awful today along with the rest of the defence. Dived in and got no where near the ball. Gave his man too much space as well. Whole defence need to go
  11. Asterisk does state 2012/13 season. Before this forum never heard of them but then how many people really knew warrior sports and Liverpool have a massive contract with them, so who knows could be good
  12. Second half was very lively and looked like he wanted the ball. Was willing to run at and beat a man and also got his head up looking for players. Once he scored you could see a weight of expectation comne off his shoulders and looked like he wanted more goals. One criticism is that in the first half he tended to come infield more which congested play as we had no width. I know he isn't an out an out winger, but the team still needs his width. Second half his positioning was more in the wide areas and the team looked better because of it.
  13. I'm not normally a fan, but credit where it's due he had a good game last night and was even looking calm on the ball, making accurate passes. Well done
  14. First half was one of the worst performances I have ever seen. His confidence was so low, positioning, rading of the game heading (apart from the finish) and tackling were all atrocious. I think the booing (not that I did it) actually helped. Second half he looked a lot better (which lets be honest couldnt be hard), was closing people down (when covering back for corners) quickly and was also creating a useful outlet on the left hand side in an attacking sense. Would like him gone, but it just depends who we would get to replace him, Stevens is unproven and do we really want him making his debut against the likes of Ben Arfa and his home debut against Silva/Nasri/Johnson/Milner etc...
  15. Is this confirmed? Nothing on nextgen website. Good news if it's definite
  16. How many offside goals.... Bad thing about avtv no replays
  17. Gutted missed it after watching all game, doh
  18. I thought he looks he really dodgy on crosses
  19. Both teams looking a bit shaky at the back and decent going forward. Having not watched a lot of youth football would imagine that is normal as defenders need more experience, hence why it harder for young defenders to break into first team
  20. omariqy...go to avfc.co.uk homepage there is a news story with a link attached..
