  1. who? Nah, just kidding. I know him as I've seen Barcelona youth games in years gone by. Not sure many Premier League followers have seen him play though.
  2. Hardly any Spurs fan would have Alli in team of the year ahead of Dembele. Though you can argue Özil have a better case for that spot too. That said, it's no surprise for me that Alli made the team, cause guess who'll be Young Player of the Year ..
  3. Well, John Terry nominated Chris Smalling as a right back in his team of the year
  4. As a Spurs fan I can say he hasn't. If the criteria is just who have been the best player who fall under the age group set for YPotY then the winner should be Kane. There tend to be some emotions behind the votes though, often it follow hype and sometimes they vote for players that have just broke through ahead of more established ones. Also last season Eden Hazard won Player of the Year, but not the Young Player award, so that happens too. Maybe it will surprise you, but many if not most Spurs fans tend to rate 5 players as better than Alli this season: 1. Alderweireld 2-3. Dembele / Kane 4. Dier 5. Lloris

  6. Both the top and 2nd division were among the 5 highest spending leagues in the winter transfer window.
  7. Kompany is another one there's uncertainty around. But several of their other players also perform better than ever - Alderweireld, Nainggolan, Dembele and Lukaku. Batshuayi perhaps also in front of Benteke at this point. Would still be a big surprise if they win it, look better than England for me though
  8. Wouldn't surprise me, but I feel it's a bit of a waste as Dier can be fourth choice centre back. And with Cahill not even a regular in the Chelsea side I think the other three are more deserving.
  9. 1 Hart, 13 Butland, 22 Forster 5 Stones, 6 Jagielka, 12 Smalling 2 Clyne, 16 Walker/Trippier, 3 Bertrand, 23 Rose 4 Dier, 17 Drinkwater 7 Milner, 8 Henderson, 19 Alli 14 Walcott, 20 Barkley, 15 Oxlade-Chamberlain, 11 Sterling 9 Sturridge?, 10 Rooney, 18 Kane, 21 Vardy If fit I'm sure these two will be in there too: Shaw? Wilshere?
  10. But perhaps the time it need it the most
  11. Its only our American fans think like that and the few from Norway. So, everyone who knows both him and Villa then?
  12. That's what every spurs fan wanted as well. We're clearly short up front. My only concern about Kane is if he'll stay fit . Will probably pickup injury on England duty. What then? First choice line up though is a 20 goal striker supported by three 10 goal players
  13. What's the definition of struggle though? If the expectation is top 4 challenge then sure it will be a tough season. We've taken a step back to rebuild. But the dream now is the move to our new stadium and that has to be paid for. If we had signed another Paulinho and Soldado then we'd look like winners this Window. Dosent always work out well
  14. Could have bigger names there as we've let Internationals go. Pochettino feel we get better performances from the younger upcoming options we're left with. Defence needed more protection from last season. Surprise to most Spurs fans that Dier in midfield was his solution, but it seem to work. Creativity is let to the player ahead of him in Eriksen
  15. Ade is taking the piss. 5m is the total amount we have to pay him if he runs out his contract. He want full payment from Spurs and then be allowed to take money on top of that from New club. Might as well let him sit out the season, Not any financial difference. By the grace of God, Ade will be provided for. Changed his faith to islam but takes advice from a christian pastor in search of signs from God about his career choices
  16. Lloris Tripper - Alderweireld - Vertonghen - Rose Mason - Dier Son - Eriksen - Chadli Kane Vorm Walker - Fazio - Wimmer - Davies Alli - Bentaleb Lamela - Pritchard - Clinton Adebayor + McGee, Walker-Peters, Carter-Vickers, Veljkovic, Winks, Carroll, Onomah, Dembele, Edwards, Sterling Would have liked two more signings. A top class midfielder and another no.9 But squad is still strong and Will take us 5-7. Will Poch take Adebayor back though? Can Son or Clinton play pure striker in english football. Crazy talk from those who say Villa have the stronger squad. Lot of clubs have strenghten and gap might have closed in, But it's still there
  17. What's the point in being in the Premier League just to make up the numbers? When you're first in european competition it's a high point in the entire history for clubs like Southampton and West Ham. Surely you owe your fans to give them great moments and memories when you're first qualified.

  20. maqroll, on 07 Aug 2015 - 06:23 AM, said: Well, we've been fairly successful in our assault on top 4, twice in six years. But we're not allowed to build on our team, someone bigger will always come and take the top players away from us, not that easy to find the next Modric, Bale etc. all the time. Financial doped clubs (City and Chelsea) and the matter of it only being 4 Champions League spots when arguably 6 of the clubs in the league are among the top 20 in european football has created a glass ceiling which it's difficult to penetrate. Just because we haven't gone on a shopping spree this summer (didn't help us much post Bale) doesn't mean we stand still though, in fact with the new stadium on its way we're taking the biggest step forward we possibly has ever done. And when it comes to the sporting side of it we have faith in our academy players coming through. We sell internationals this summer because we believe the youth will deliever better than them. Not sure what you mean with lower final league position, it's possible to drop a spot or two yes, but I see it as almost impossible to finish below 7. Don't agree about Liverpool at all, I look at their starting line up and there's hardly anyone I'd take over the Spurs alternative. Lloris - Mignolet Trippier - Clyne Alderweireld - Skrtel Vertonghen - Sakho Rose - Moreno Alli - Henderson Bentaleb - Can Dembele - Milner Lamela - Firmino Eriksen - Coutinho Kane - Benteke villa4europe, on 04 Aug 2015 - 10:35 PM, said: Based on the ridiculous (money spinning) friendly they played today and the other tomorrow I agree Haven't seen the line ups but I'd be surprised if they didn't put a decent squad out given who they've played, Utd on Saturday after playing twice this week... We rotated in the mid week, most got games, few got full games. Kane only played tuesday, Chadli was striker against Milan. The Milan game was more or less a back up team aside from 2-3 players. VillaChris, on 04 Aug 2015 - 9:33 PM, said: Big hopes for Pritchard this season, but he's missed out the entire summer preparation due to the injury he picked up on England U21 duty which will hamper him and his opportunity. Not back to full fitnesss yet. Reckon he'll get minutes in the Europa League, will be up to him if he can force himself into the team from that like Harry Kane did last season. TrentVilla, on 04 Aug 2015 - 9:50 PM, said: Thanks Trent. Think you're fairly spot on with your thoughts around our situation. We will definitely not be a regular top 4 team in coming years, we're in a different situation than Wenger was with Arsenal. That said I still think we can squeeze in once or twice. So during the stadium building Spurs won't deliver similiar sporting results as Arsenal did, but we have other beneficial sides to its financing in that there's more money in the game now than back then and that we should be able to generate far better sponsorship deals to it than they could.
  21. Spurs fans do indeed like to moan, probably not much more than other fan groups but I do find it embarrasing at times. Especially when it comes to our own players, if we had the world XI as our starting line up you can be sure there'd be a group of supporters taking it out on the "weak" link in the line up. 6th could very well be our position this season, but we're competitive with at least Liverpool and will give them a fight. Spurs are the 6th richest club with the 6th highest wage bill, so it's natural that we'll be around there in the long run. However, we've performed better than that for 6 seasons now so it's nothing wrong with being disappointed if we fall down to 6th. Finished 5th last season, above Liverpool, we've finished above Liverpool in 5 of the last 6 seasons. Our final positions last six seasons: 5 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 5 - 4 6th can be a decent season for us, if the play is entertaining and there's several young players coming through, but we should definitely aim higher. There's been a negative net spend at Spurs for years now, we used a lot of money to build our squad years back, and we've lived on it since. Sold players that get too big for us and those who have flopped, reinvested the money. It's allowed us to pay down the world class academy and training center we've built. And help us in the planning and construction of the new stadium. I dont expect us to spend much above what we sell for, and that's okey to be honest. We have an incredible line of youth players coming through, and have taken a decision to sell a lot of the depth players in the squad to make sure that the younger players get game time. Bentaleb had his breakthrough last season, expect more from him this season. Also look out for Dele Alli, Joshua Onomah, Alex Pritchard and perhaps guys like Harry Winks and Nathan Oduwa. Cameron Carter-Vickers and Milos Veljkovic are also incredible talents, but face a lot of competition at central defence. Bit early probably for perhaps the two most talented academy players Marcus Edwards and Ismail Azzaoui. Probably not finished in the transfer market though, we wait on confirmation of Adebayor and Soldado transfers to get new guys in on top. And most believe we'll also sign a central midfielder. Personally I hope for Christoph Kramer and Timo Werner, Kramer will be difficult to land but we should have money that could make it possible. Trippier, Alderweireld, Wimmer and Alli (january) look like great signings so far.
  22. Spurs won't sell Rose for £15m if the Chelsea bid is correct, he's much better than given credit to. People haven't caught up with his development, he was the best player at a Premier League club like Sunderland when on loan there, and back at Spurs he was the third best player (only behind Kane and Lloris, some will argue Bentaleb as well) last season with the team that finished 5th in the league.
  23. You want players that are hungry, those who are willing to settle for less won't take you anywhere
  24. Only perform every other year, and always raise his game when he play for a contract. Next year could be double up for him with that in mind. I'd be careful to sign him on a long term contract, he tend to go stale and lose interest over time. One thing is for sure, Adebayor won't take a wage cut in the final year of his Spurs contract. So low transfer fee and low wages won't happen. I imagine Levy is desperate to get rid though, for me a free transfer or loan with Spurs paying what Ade is on above Benteke would be fair for all parts. Was on fire for the half season with Sherwood in charge. And exceptional in his first season at Spurs, where he not only scored 17 league goal, he also had similiar number of assists. Was first player in european top football to go past double digit in both assist and goals that season, and in the end he was by far the one with highest number of both in Europe as well. So if you get good Adebayor next season, you'll be laughing - but he's not a long term solution.
  25. Paying for potential, Roberts and Marcus Edwards are considered the two most talented players in England's youth set up. They are of another level with their technical ability. Fulham didn't dare put faith in him in Championship, haven't got the body of a man yet, but I understand why they wouldn't let him go for anything less
