  1. At this point, as far as the public knows, it's just creative journalists. Nothing has been said from the Bale camp. It started with Marca, pro Real Madrid and their propoganda tool. Making up quotes surprisingly similiar and in some cases identical with Modric and Kaka quotes from years gone by. Daily Mail took their info from there, and since it's spread around the web and in lazy papers around the world. It's been massive, but in fairness to Gareth Bale, he hasn't come out with any demands at this point. Let's wait and see ..
  2. As far as I can tell, the Loic Remy rumour seem to come from a kids twitter account. Not that I'd mind him, he impressed me at QPR when he was fit and played central. As long as he aint a rapist that is .. Far stronger rumour is that Roberto Soldado is close to signing, and that would be on a whole other level. Price mentioned is mind blowing for someone in his late 20s, but there's no doubting his quality - one of the most clinical finishers in the game. Getting Lineker vibes just thinking of him in a Spurs shirt. Apparently Valencia aren't willing to lower their asking price, but they have no problem with it being paid over longer time in installments. Difficult to say what's happening with Bale. Everyone seemed to jump on the Marca fabricated story about Bale wanting to leave. You'd think if we turned down a world record transfer fee, there'd be a statement about it on the website.
  3. That's what sell on clauses are for
  4. Good signing by Norwich, not their only this summer neither. This is the extra £20m tv money allowing teams to spend a bit more
  5. Think it was at least £5m more than that as well (almost 10 for Halilovic alone), Halilovic is rated extremely high and expected to be at Modric level in the future. Reckon we're still interested, but he wasn't supposed to join before next summer anyway. Would be a risk for sure, then again we signed Bale for same amount when he was same age.
  6. Were after a double deal, but dropped the interest in Jedvaj when Halilovic didn't want to move.
  7. Jovetic's overall goal record doesn't look as impressive as he used to be a midfielder. He scores 1 in 2 now, for the last two seasons after he was pushed forward. Sick skill level and someone as likely to create as to score. More of a passer and dribbler, not sure he's on a higher level than Benteke (similiar age as well) - but it's easier to sell someone with a spectacular playing style like Jovetic.
  8. Why not when it has relevance and insight into the discussion. It's a Spurs fan quoting another Spurs fan once in a 519 pages thread. I'm holding myself to mostly read only in this thread. It's too full of anger, desperation and delusion throughout for it to make any sense to involve in debate as an outsider Entertaining to read though
  9. Don't think Bale's leaving this summer. He's too much used in promotion by Spurs, the Premier League and the tv rights holders. Truelly is the face of the Premier League these days. Also gotten himself involved in private sponsor ship deals tied into the Premier League. Think you might be right though that Spurs are willing to sign players knowing there's a Bale windfall in future years. Transfers are usually paid over years, sometimes the years of said players contract. Real Madrid as an example still owe Spurs £20m for Modric. Only oil doped clubs pay all at once. Signing players now feels safe for Spurs as they know when downpayments are due Bale will have been sold. Bale will obviously leave, but it doesn't seem likely this summer
  10. How much is Sigurdsson on and would he drop it? These type of players are out of touch whilst we have our current pay structure. Not sure what Siggi's on, but it will be under £50k, our over all wage bill isn't a lot higher than yours, £90m to your £70m (6th and 7th highest in the PL), and the main difference will be between the absolute top earners rather than at the mid-level I'd have thought. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/apr/18/premier-league-finances-club-by-club Spurs wages have been upped recently, in line with increased turnover it should be said, but it's quite telling. Established players and £10m+ signings in past 5 years usually were on around 40k. Similiar players these days seem to be on 60k Reckon Benteke would be offered up to 80k and be among the top earners if a transfer happen. Same as the part of Adebayor's wages Spurs cover
  11. How much is Sigurdsson on and would he drop it? These type of players are out of touch whilst we have our current pay structure. Sig is believed to be on 60.000 and obviously would not be willing to be paid less. Spurs turned down a £10m bid on him last transfer window
  12. With the new tv deal, all clubs can afford to spend £20m more net this year than before. And I think we can see it with transfer activity from clubs that used to be much more careful with their spending.
  13. You can put Gareth Bale out left, he'll go past players with ease and get crosses in. That's not worth 60m+ though Real Madrid pushing the boat for Bale only makes sense if they have him as long term replacement of Ronaldo in mind.
  14. Keep an eye on Stefan Johansen (dm/cm) and Valon Berisha (am l/c). Norway will be weaken in the group stage as they have called up several players that will take part in the senior team before they join the U21 half way through the group stage. Could be important for England. Being in the weak group is a potential saver for this England side.
  15. Spain has called up a sick squad Goalkeepers David de Gea (Manchester United) Diego Marino (Villarreal) Joel (Wigan) Defenders Marc Bartra (Barcelona) Daniel Carvajal (Bayer Leverkusen) Nacho Fernandez (Real Madrid) Alvaro (Zaragoza) Inigo Martinez (Real Sociedad) Marc Muniesa (Barcelona) Martin Montoya (Barcelona) Alberto Moreno (Sevilla) Midfielders Thiago (Barcelona) Ignacio Camacho (Malaga) Sergio Canales (Valencia) Asier Illarramendi (Real Sociedad) Isco (Malaga) Koke (Atletico Madrid) Pablo Sarabia (Getafe) Attackers Alvaro Morata (Real Madrid) Rodrigo (Benfica) Iker Muniain (Athletic Bilbao) Cristian Tello (Barcelona) Alvaro Vazquez (Getafe)
  16. Who was of dual nationality that chose another country over England??? I can't think of many. And the ones that did choose another country over England did so because they knew they weren't gonna get in the England squad. Earle, Sinclair, Sullivan Who was of dual nationality that chose another country over England??? I can't think of many. 17. Delfouneso is there, called in as someone withdrew (was it McManaman?)
  18. I asumed there only will be an Champions League spot given if the winners aren't already qualified through their domestic league. Same rule as in the Champions League. Don't think England will be given an extra spot if one of the top 4 placed teams win the Europa League. CL spot won't drop down to 5th placed team in the Premier League, but there might be 5 teams qualified if Europa League winner is an English team outside of the top 4 in the PL.
  19. That won't stop him from gettin his kit on and lifting the trophy
  20. Very similiar to Ramires send off, ref likely to have seen video at half time of Benteke's elbow. Should really have taken him off, easy to say in hindsight
  21. Terry yellow was correct, the rule doesn't state last man or anything like that. It's about denying a clear goal scoring opportunity, in this situation they had a defender covering. Let's hope he get another though, like Ramires Oh my close there
  22. I think daddy Ince will be telling him to aim higher than us, unfortunately. If he has his son's best interest at heart, and haven't totally lost perspective and reason about his son. Then he should absolutely recommend Villa, if you stay up then I'd say it's a perfect match with Ince and Villa. Only more suited option is perhaps Swansea due to European football and Laudrup's knowledge about his position Wouldn't be surprised if he hangs onto the Zaha talk from earlier though and expect higher fee and wages than Zaha, placing him at City as Sinclair's replacement. Good way to kill a career.

    Wolves

Should have sticked with Solbakken and allowed him to replace the entire squad over time (years)
  24. 116 Missed mostly lower league stuff, lot of guessing / or just throwing club names out there. PFA Player of the Year 90 and 91. Young player of 99. Winners of div 1 97 and 98 were the worse misses
  25. It's a sign of weakness that these guys are involved at this moment of time: Smalling, Walker, Cleverley, Milner, Osman, Parker, OX, Young, Defoe But then again, England is, what was it, fourth best team in the world
