I will begrudgingly give you that. Delias gone and its varients has been recorded by many many artists using various lyrics and tunes. This varient I believe Johnny recorded and made famous first. Although he didnt write it. But that said Delias gone, the theme, predates Cash and his version.
I have a few Leon Rosselson albums all of them I enjoy. Hard to describe. A more english folky version of Billy Bragg. Here he is with the the song BB covered.
Similarly, Cash Sun output and American recordings sell, so they are stocked. Thats me on my high horse about that though as I know he has better. I think on a given day my wife would choose Jennings over Cash, like you, she is **** wrong.
This is from Johnny Cash's last album.
The title track and a recording of a song made popular by Waylon Jennings. Cash recorded this in 84. 5 years after Waylon.
Edit to say, his last album was made up of odds and sods. Hence this being from the 80s. Out Among The Stars was a pretty good album, disjointed but good.
Not to be confised with the Cash song of the same name.
Covered by Bobby Bare.
The Waylon song is an original I think, written by him. Arseholes that they are choosing the same title. My favourite of them all is the 62 Cash version but I love that Waylon song. Here looking as cool as they come.
A perfect example of a band who with their second album, Save the world get the girl, released an absolute joy of a record. Faultless but managed to make me hate them live, every other release apart from that album and their lead singer. Putting their second album down as an anomaly.
Mines all in the attic and to be blunt its a shit tip at the moment. The plan if we ever move, is to bring the music down to a place where it might get played.
