  1. Only Cash and McGinn as regulars out. Only question would be if Unai lets Tim play CM or we go again with Tielemans. Emi Konsa Diego Pau Moreno Bailey Tielemans Luiz JJ Diaby Watkins
  2. Ollie's at his best on the break or advancing teams up the pitch with his link up play with runners around him against a coordinated high press. Ollie is not at his best sitting around in the box with nothing coming into it and/or dropping into CDM to "dictate" play. England will face teams that will sit back against them and Southgate is obsessed with moving the ball along slowly and then winning corners, set pieces, and penalties - the latter of which Toney is better than Ollie is at. He'll be left off the squad despite likely having the most G+A this season because he is an anathema to the way Southgate wants to play.
  3. He's only been fit enough to start 10 matches this year (9 if you discount the Mostar away trip). We are 6-1-2 when he starts with the only two losses being the United matches we should have won.
  4. Sadly enough - this will only make him succumb to Maguire ball even more. This England midfield getting grossly outplayed by Tielemans says it all.
  5. For all the attacking talent England have, no doubt the ball will now slowly move around, go wide for crosses while patiently letting Belgium set up in the box to defend the inevitable cross. And MAYBE a corner will result from it for Gareth’s preferred attacking technique.
  6. In a lot of ways, the Southgate discourse reminds me a lot of the Moyes discourse (and relatively true for a lot of English managers in general). High floor, low ceiling. He can bring a team together, good cohesiveness, toxic behavior in the dressing room is relatively nil. But on the pitch, he manages like Moyes with the exception that he has better talent than almost every squad bar may be five in the world. And as a result - it looks like shit most of the time...because it is shit. Defensive, controlling, keep the game tight - score off set pieces and counters and etc. I don't think anyone is asking for Pep ball but it was a night and day difference between Southgate and say Scaloni or Deschamps, who can make tactical adjustments from match to match or even during the match.
  7. Must win. End of the day, we have control of our destiny - so there's no one else to blame but us. Saturday 1730 KO means that it should be a good atmosphere. Hope Unai goes at them right away - they are not a team that can truly threaten once we've taken the lead - but if we let them stay in it - then they can expose us on the counter.

Yeah I think a little bit what we talked about. People are risk averse and the incumbency factor is strong.

In fairness - there was a lot of cloak and dagger with that first Brexit vote. I wonder what the numbers are for Brexit now? In comparison, everyone should know what to expect for Trump and yet are contemplating voting for him AGAIN.

Just mind boggling numbers. Going to rival the 2000 election for a tight race and those late breaking undecided voters will determine a razor thin margin.
  11. His play with his back to goal probably intrigues him the most under Unai's eyes - a profile desperately missing for us. Only Ollie and McGinn are any good at it under pressure.

    Matty Cash

Konsa and Pau have started 8 times together this year as the CB pair and have won 7 of those matches. It's our best pairing, but injuries or other reasons have not allowed us to play it all that much.

What's interesting about this is this not only shoots past the Biden to Trump voters theory - but also postulates that not only will people switch from Biden to Trump, but also then vote for a Democratic Senator as well. Can it happen? Crazier things have happened, but exceedingly difficult to try and reconcile two disparate points. Of course - the simplest explanation is usually the most reasonable one - Americans are just dumb.
  14. Think it was 8m from BK88 and 3m from Castore. Heck if I know.
  15. If nothing else, at least gets numbers out of the sponsor image. Don't know why - but BK8, W88, and even going back to 32Red just looked awful on the kit. Ditto with Genting and the typograph.
  16. Been saying for a while that Palace away might be one for the ages. Playoff final x2. Staying up on the last day. Europe on the last day. Why not UCL on the last day?
  17. And we have more points in the last 5. Better goal difference, better rolling point average, better xG, equal or maybe slightly worse xGA. And they have to overtake a 9 point gap (their game in hand is Chelsea). It’s the least likely of the possibilities to keep us out of UCL.
  18. Our current form is better than their current form. By almost every metric, except for a small snapshot in January, we have been better than United at every turn.

It's an imperfect process with a large MOE but would be foolish to discount the general picture.

Ultimately, we won't know for a while until the investigation is complete - but doesn't that have all the hallmarks of a cascade of managerial or executive decisions? Push to increase production. Push to cut back labor. Push to reduce training or re-training so more employees can work the line. Push to not use union members. It's the swiss cheese model of management. One thing might not be awful, but a combination of decisions precipitated the atmosphere where checks are failed in three different areas - line up all the holes and you have a recipe for disaster (insert Kenneth meme). A failure in one area is a personnel problem. A failure in three areas is a process and management problem.

The outliers push the average, but this would be the case in years favoring the Democrats. Again - the overall picture remains bleak but squint and you'll see it moving to the logical conclusion that it will be a very, very tight race.
  22. Might be too late and he's a bit too Moreno-ish in his defending but Antonee Robinson from Fulham has always impressed when I watched. Just absolute rapid pace and delivery on him. Most interceptions in the league, pace and athleticism. But the secret might be out already. 26 entering into his prime years - big contract and can be signed on for 4 years to get max value.
  23. Beyond unprofessional. It would be unprofessional in the back of house of a chip shop kitchen on a Saturday night - how much more in a billion dollar league.

I mean to be clear, the spoken aims of the powers that be of the US are to maintain the EU alliance. But the Trumps of the world have other ideas. Only about 10-15% of Americans travel outside the country per year - and a majority of that is to Mexico, Canada, or the Caribbean. Makes sense - close proximity. About 25% of Americans have been to more than 5 countries in their lifetime. Only 50% of Americans have been to 1-4 countries. And 25% of Americans have never left the country. That's a lot of isolation that can breed some of the "not my problem" Americanisms.
