  1. At this point, just a rehearsal for his next club. Hope he grabs one more important goal. We've had a lot worse loans and a lot worse permanent signings than Zaniolo so hope he doesn't get too much grief at the end of the day.

Thought he did okay, well taken goal. A tough assignment but he had plenty of 1v1 opportunities - some that went well and a lot that didn't. A good learning experience for him.
  3. He commends your ability to put a negative slant on things constantly!
  4. Takes some ability to make Tielemans look quick!
  5. Chambers-Tielemans in the middle. Sorry Unai, you can't fool us! Definitely not taking it that seriously.
  6. Would imagine some planned subs at the 60-65 mark. Chambers/Tielemans/Bailey for Luiz/Rogers/Diaby?
  7. Kind of match suits Olsen - hasn't had to make a lot of decisions to come out and sweep or claim. Reminds me of when we had to start him vs Spurs away last year. Was decent enough then (though I don't remember him having to make any saves).

    The prophecy has come true.
  9. Zaniolo, Rogers, and Duran at the same time? o2.5 Villa yellow cards might be the easiest bet all year.
  10. Pau, Bailey, and Tielemans on the bench. Might be one of the tallest sides we've put out in the league this year.
  11. Unai has been on the wrong side of some starting XI decisions for critical matches this year. At home vs Newcastle - the 4 CM lineup was too slow. At home vs Spurs - going 5 at the back was a disaster. Conversely, he picked the best starting XI against United twice and they still managed jammy wins over us. Best XI vs Wolves as well. The starting XI has usually portended whether or not we will be going for it, so I'm hoping for a predictable lineup!
  12. Lisandro Martinez and Lindelof now out of action for a month. Only ourselves to blame if we don't hold onto 5th.
  13. The lack of injury history works against a back up striker. You're going to pay a lot of money for someone to sit on the bench for what 35-36 matches a season? It'd be one thing if Ollie wasn't all that great but he's clearly been chosen (to the point of jettisoning out Ings) to start every match as long as he's healthy and he has a long track record of remaining fit. Duran is the ideal case, though not against the ideal opponent.
  14. This is Ollie's first missed PL start since away at Brighton (2-1, thanks Ings!) on Nov 13, 2022. He must have been injured as I couldn't find anything else on why he was out that day. An exceedingly rare occurence!
  15. Out again and in Unai's words - no hurry to rush him back. A shame as I thought he had a real stellar season last year and has not been fully fit in any way this year.
  16. Probably longer term view with the Lille matches too

Cometh the hour, cometh the madman.
  18. Diego with no one pressing him can really ping it around. It’s when he’s getting pressed that he becomes a bit shaky.

    U.S. Politics

It won’t make national waves for a while but a potentially crucial day today in Florida. The Florida Supreme Court ruled that the legislature is allowed to uphold a 15 week abortion ban and thus pass a 6 week abortion ban. In turn, they also allowed a vote for allowing abortion to viability to be added as a state amendment. The threshold is high - 60% of voters need to approve it. But in a state that Trump won by 2.3% in 2020, a veritable landslide for Florida’s standards, will the single amendment swing it enough the other way on what has been a slam dunk for Dems? Maybe not at the end of the day, but will cause Trump to spend more money than he really needed to in his “home” state.
  20. Bank holiday and too much time on my hands. Konsa home vs Burnley yellow - protesting a decision that should have been a corner to us. Konsa away at United yellow - yellow for taking down Garnacho on the counter Konsa away at Brentford yellow - yellow for the goal fracas after Watkins scored Konsa home vs Fulham yellow - booked for time wasting Konsa home vs Brighton yellow - yellow for a late challenge 2 yellows for bad challenges and 3 yellows for dissent/time wasting - makes sense now.
  21. There is something to it, especially when you look at who's challenging them. Zaniolo and Duran - in particular - are comically silly the way they get yellow cards. Some of the individual numbers are astounding too. Rice at CDM with only 3 yellow cards. Dias with 0. Szoboslai with only 1 yellow in 23 fouls. Then again - if you look at the profile of who's competing for those tackles - it might just come down to the physically able players winning the ball more often while our smaller players have to really put in a challenge to get the ball, and as a result - get an abnormally high amount of yellow cards as a ratio to fouls. Makes sense that you see certain kinds of players on opposing teams too with a decent yellow card ratio too - Mac Allister and Endo aren't known for being bruisers but have to cover a lot of ground in the middle of the park. Bernardo Silva isn't winning a lot of duels soon but is asked to play in the center a lot. So it might just be your point @TRO - Villa are a lightweight team in general and get more yellows because we have to be clambering or hacking the other players to win the ball.
  22. Got caught up in all the edits. I agree - Palace need a few results but should be fully on the beach for our last match. Brentford will be a tough one no doubt. Bournemouth similarly might have nothing to play for by the time we play them. Whereas Forest and Burnley still have a chance to escape.
  23. Spurs run in is not significantly easier than ours. We each have to play Liverpool/City/Arsenal/Chelsea Differences are we play Brentford, Bournemouth, Brighton, and Palace They play Forest, Burnley, Sheffield, Newcastle, and Palace
