  1. Yes, if you take free-kicks in football, the ref asks you "do you want to wait for the whistle" I've never said "no" myself but I'm assuming from the question, there doesn't have to be a whistle if you take it quickly... but anyway, this made me smile. http://www.101greatgoals.com/blog/does-this-video-prove-real-madrid-only-lead-la-liga-by-10-points-due-to-referee-mistakes/#more-147943 but Barca get all the decisions....Poor Real Madrid Great free-kick, as Stevo says. The fact it was the other way round and about as top corner as it gets made it a pretty special free-kick. Ronaldo 1 ahead in top scorer race anyway, (the only thing he actually might top Messi in) does help the stupid amount of penalties Real Madrid are given. Ronaldo's goal yesterday was fantastic though. Messi out of the next game which is a shame but with the title for Madrid all but sealed, least he's actually allowed a rest this season.
  2. Complete dross. Cuellar man of the match, 2nd game running. Go Carlos!
  3. That was **** dreadful, please just sack him. If we lose to Blackburn which is a definite possibility, I believe we could be relegated.
  4. Form is not 3 games though, I'm sure he's been on the bench just as much as he's played recently! Form is months/half season etc.. you don't pick players based on a couple weeks of football.
  5. The Ronaldo when I was really young was my main man even though I only really saw him during his Real Madrid days when he was past his best despite his still relatively young age. and obviously Lionel Messi. I think I've missed around 10 games of his last 120 for club+country. He is my idol and just an absolute pleasure to watch. I just hope unlike Ronaldo, he can remain injury free and at his peak for as long as possible.
  6. Maybe I'm just being really harsh here but there are many other things I could mention that I don't like about the manager which have been said but does anyone else really dislike the interviews that are on our website. Every single one is about 'effort/application/working hard/commitment' etc... all obviously important but what exactly do we do in training? do we engage in anything technical or does he know anything about our players and what they are like with the ball? I'm sure even our better players with the ball, he somehow talks about them in interviews as 'he is working extremely hard in training and that's what he needs to do, work hard. It's important he puts in the effort and shows commitment for this team. Then he will be a real top player for this club. But only if he shows the right application and puts in hard work.' ...great.
  7. Thing I've took from this thread is that time moves very fast. I can't believe Daz's posts were nearly a year ago. Ridiculous.
  8. Last time i saw shooting like that was on a Heskeys closest efforts compilation I try to base my game around him hence the wild attempts on goal during this match. may not be true
  9. Well our Uni game got videod last week so I thought would post video of my parts during the game, especially as football is the only thing I believe I can actually do. So this is me when I am at my happiest. (changed video to cut out pointless crappy moments) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79mzuij35vM
  10. Devastating news about that crash in France. The man who unfortunately died was someone I knew as did my family and his son is a good friend of mine who goes to the same uni at me, play football together, go out etc...watch Villa together every week. So sad. Terrible news.
  11. If we can't beat these, there is no hope. ------------Given Hutton Collins Cuellar Warnock ------------Petrov ---------Ireland ---Zog----Keane----Gabby --------------Bent---------- concede under 2 goals and we'll win. I think we'll win 1-3.
  12. From just knowing people personally who are Villa supporters, i've never experienced this.
  13. I completely disagree. I find it bizarre why anyone would hate someone for working at another club. He also during his tenure said positive things about us as a team and size of the club on a few occasions. I have absolutely no care where players/managers come from. It is a job. After the first 3/4 games of his appointment, although I imagine the majority still believed it was a poor appointment, most were satisfied with how we started and were giving him a chance. His results and football since have led him to be disliked as manager of this club, not any previous job.
  14. People who eat loudly. How can you be so loud eating **** HARIBO. Shut the **** up, puts me off my own food.
  15. We are at our worst point under Randy Lerner and still have a squad comfortably capable of finishing 7th in the Premier League. A really bad appointment but as Bickster says, I don't think we'd even be in the division under Ellis. A couple poor years, (9th place counting as poor) doesn't discount many very good and exciting years with some great players which Ellis wouldn't have been able to fund. I still think long term Lerner will be fine, financially I think we'll see investment in the future, I only worry about managerial appointments but hopefully will soon get it right.
  16. We'd really be living the dream under his stewardship. It's very strange. Thing is, on the whole Gregory was very good with us. If he can do it once surely he can do it again? Graham Taylor?
  17. ??? Why exactly? Is he a leader? No Is a role model off the field? No Does he let his country down when they need him most? Yes Is he more often than not utter tripe in an England shirt? Yes I cannot honestly think of a single reason why you'd make WR captain. First question, Yes I think he is. Role model off the field? Who is but has he really done much wrong? Sleeping with a prostitute? okay, he's a heated character but maybe I don't read enough papers but rarely see him on back pages for wrong reason. Matured plenty as well as he's grown up and think he'd take it in his stride. Hmm regarding letting his country down, I think it's difficult to say. He has played in 3 tournament. He was brilliant in one. Another one, he was clearly unfit and still very young, 21...coming back from injury, frustrated as a lone striker. obviously being sent off is criminal but wouldn't say because of that he hasn't performed for his country. I expect a lot of disagreements but I just can't take last years world cup seriously. Of course he let the country down with his performances but we weren't talking about the same Rooney, an in form Rooney who suddenly just stopped performing for England and then went back to being brilliant for United. What we saw from Rooney from World Cup until probably February 2011 was dire performance after dire performance and clearly something wasn't right. Obviously don't know what it was but something was very wrong. A shame because he was excellent the season leading upto world cup until injury and that included England. Overall, I think his England career hasn't been great but certainly don't think he's let his country down when he's fit and ready to play. As long as he stays injury free and problem free then this will show his true colours. No excuses but also in good form and shape. I think it's very wrong to say he's utter tripe for England more than not. Not from the games I've watched.
  18. Barry is so under-rated by fans across the country. Not sure if he's captain material though, I think you either need to be the best or one of the very best players like a Gerrard or Rooney or a driving force like Parker. He's an extremely solid and steady player but not really sure captain but then again, a quiet but assuring captain is maybe what is needed. Doubt it really matters. I'd give it Rooney..
  19. So frustrating. My best mate at Uni is a Liverpool fan, season ticket holder and like any Liverpool fan, defends his club to the tilt, at least he's respectful with his comments and opinions but it's so annoying because I just want to unleash a barrage of abuse towards Liverpool and Suarez (who he loves) and I can't not even on twitter. He likes Villa, watches all the games with me and my other flat mate who's a Villa fan, agrees with me that McLeish is a shocking manager, so I can't then spoil all that niceness by letting me true hatred of Liverpool come out. Instead I have to put on a brave face and pretend I'm happy for him when Liverpool get a win. **** off. I hate Liverpool.
  20. He was poor really but then you look at any players today from midfield/strikers and they were poor. Gary Gardner from what I've seen in small glimses and read is a midfielder who is going to get the ball, move it on and then get himself into the box and into positions to affect the game. Every time we had the ball, he seemed limited and cautious, I'll put it down to tactics in the way we approached the game, he had no lisence to play to his strengths. We rarely got the ball and when we would, he'd be put under pressure very quickly giving him few options and with our movement, he could do very little but pass the ball backwards and sideways. He is clearly a good footballer though but if we are going to play him then you have to least youngsters do what they are best that and he wasn't given that role today.
  21. For the first time since supporting Villa, I'm getting a horrible feeling when we lose. 'Well at least it's one game closer to the sack for McLeish' ...it's not one any supporter should have and people will say how can you feel it, in fact....I'm pretty sure I did it last year when people said that about Houllier but I just can't take any of it. The football is horrible, he's actually made me dislike pretty much all of our players. There is nothing exciting about us. The results most importantly aren't there. This is just sickening to watch and so frustrating. Please, please, please get rid of this man. I don't even look forward to our games anymore.
  22. O'Neill managed to have one of the best defensive records with those players mentioned, so I'm sure a manager of similar ability would be able to do similar? Although to be fair, I'm not a big fan of the mentioned, although I think Dunne is a good player. A couple things though, Laursen first season started 12 games. Bouma started 23. so it's not like they were integral parts of the defence in 06/07. Going forward though, the talent we have in this team compared to what we did have is just not debatable. Gabby now is so much better than the player he was, of course Bent ..Albrighton and N'Zogbia are better players than anything we had then even if McLeish can't get the best out of them.
