  1. I’m not sure he’s had a chance to prove if he is ‘gash’ or not yet.. He’ll play on Tuesday anyway, if fit.
  2. The cult of O’Hare is strong with some of the fan base. I really don’t understand what he has done to warrant any call up to play in the Premier League. We need a change of formation to bring in Jota, I expect he’ll get his chance soon.
  3. I haven’t heard us sing ‘SOTC’ unless we’re playing them for years. ‘Birmingham are you listening’ doesn’t get sung much either. We certainly don’t sing those songs numerous times in every game. Blues do constantly sing about us though..
  4. Just my opinion, I’m not asking you or anyone to agree. I’m sure the bookies had us clear favourites to win those 7 games. I’m not pleased with our recent form but I’m not at meltdown stage or calling for a managers head that got us promoted against the odds, whilst we still sit outside the relegation zone...
  5. I can understand the frustration but some perspective is needed. The last 8 games we’ve played the current top 7 and 5 of them were away from home. Even the homes games were against the top 2 and Newcastle (who we dominated). As long as the confidence of the team hasn’t been knocked too much, Smith can turn this around quickly. It’s been a freakish run of fixtures. We should be judged on the next few games, which will define our season. I do think Smith should move Jack back centrally. The move hasn’t been bad for Jack as he can play anywhere but it’s affected McGinn adversely.
  6. Very poor. 4-3-3 maybe needs to change. Whoever plays up front isn’t getting any service. I’d like to see Jack play centrally again as we are losing the midfield. 3 big and very winnable games coming up that can get our season back on track.
  7. Yes, the party line is that the team that Liverpool are putting out is the reason the price has been considered too high, although I’d happily pay to watch us play their ladies team if it meant we got through to the semis.
  8. Prices reduced to £20 for season ticket holders for 72 hours. Those that have already purchased at £30 are being sent a £10 food/drink voucher.
  9. Disappointing but some perspective that we all know, last 5 defeats have been at home to 1st and 2nd and away to 3rd, 4th & 6th, with a draw away at 5th too. Quite a freakish run of fixtures really.
  10. I think the difference is now that fans realise they can’t pick and choose games with the ease that used to be the case. So there is a risk of giving up a season ticket that hasn’t been there before. As such I fully expect us to remain at full season ticket capacity. I also think we’ll improve as the season goes on and no reason the feel good factor is going to be affected long term by losing to top 4 teams/challengers.
  11. Walking out the ground today, one genius was explaining to their friend how Douglas Luiz would be a good replacement for Wes as Centre Forward..
  12. Disappointing day. Could have been different if El Ghazi can learn to keep the ball below the bar from 6 yards out. Wesley not suited to our style of play for sure but our biggest problem is clearly defensive. Heaton man of the match again. I don’t watch much of Everton so I can only assume Pickford is absolutely amazing??
  13. No, it sounds like it at the ground but apparently it is “you made us sing that” in tribute to their deceased Chairman.
  14. Shame some fans at the ground are starting to give him a lot of stick. I just don’t understand that mentality. How will that help Wesley or us as a team.. Wesley needs to come out of the firing line for a bit. It’s a shame Davis is still out who I rate very highly as a hold/link up forward. I don’t think Kodjia is the answer and maybe Wesley can get going again now we start a kinder run of fixtures and hopefully he won’t be feeding off scraps.
  15. I really don’t see why we wouldn’t spend big if we can land a prime target. Unless we are restricted by PL spending regs then it’s fairly sensible to invest now to ensure we stay (and thrive) in the division. The problem will be buying quality in January as that’s never easy to do for anyone.
  16. I’m not sure one win out of last 6 can be classed as a form side. Sheffield Utd might easily slide right down the league now. They are battlers for sure but low on quality.
  17. I understand the criticism but still think it’s over the top at this stage of his career. Especially with our recent run of tough opponents. Let’s see how he gets on when our ‘easier’ run (on paper at least) starts. We are still scoring plenty of goals as a team, frankly our main concern should be with the other end of the pitch (not Heaton obviously who has been brilliant).
  18. It’s not quite that simple. You also need to swap Wesley’s service with Tammy’s service. They are a better team that’s why they won, not because of one better forward. In fact Tammy missed a quite a few easy chances last night.
  19. 2nd best tonight but better when Douglas came on. Sorry Connor but back to the bench.
  20. That record is mainly because he is selected against weaker opponents. We were winning against Liverpool and subbed him on and lost. Not sure we can seriously equate good results with Hourihane playing.
  21. Well Smith said Jota is pushing for a start and he also clearly rates Lansbury. I’m not saying that’s my preference but with 7 matches in the next 24 days. If he’s ever going to rotate in the PL and include a surprise selection this could be the week does it, 3 days after playing away at Man U.
  22. I do wonder if Smith will ring the changes with a busy month ahead and the 1st midweek PL game of the season. Elmo comes in but I expect Engels, Nakamba and maybe even Lansbury and Jota have a decent chance of starting.
  23. I don’t think this 1st half table issue is a concern or due to fitness/tactics etc. It’s just a product of how well we have started against the best teams in the league. It’s inevitable that Liverpool, Man C, Spurs, Arsenal etc will come at us hard in the last part of the games and the psychology of the game then changes. Until yesterday to a degree we haven’t been good enough to hold out or get that next goal. The Man U game will give the team a lot more belief.
  24. I think the reason we pick up more points when he plays is because he is usually only selected against the weaker sides, so it’s not that easy to measure his overall effectiveness. It’s a difficult call because he seemingly does little in a game or scores/assists. Not a lot of middle ground.
