  1. I can see them in another 3 or 4 teams last day relegation decider the way the bottom of the Championship is shaping up. Hopefully we’ll be safe by then so I can enjoy it..
  2. Fulham will probably play their reserves and I think we should too, more or less, with those that haven’t had many matches recently getting a run out. We also should stick with a back 3. Shouldn’t risk Jack, Mings and some others, especially our other starting midfielders. Nyland Taylor Konsa Engels Chester Elmo Lansbury Hourihane El Ghazi Pick an U23 Davis (if fit, if not Kodjia/u23)
  3. I can’t see it with those teams still in Europe. The Chelsea strikers maybe if they sign replacements.
  4. Bournemouth taking a beating is helpful although they have an easy run of fixtures coming up, which will help them or the teams around us. West Ham themselves have some very tough fixtures coming up. Ultimately we have to do it ourselves. Having on paper the easier away fixtures to come and the tougher home ones, with some exceptions could help us, as I believe we can win another 4 at home minimum and 2/3 away, which should be enough to get us over the line, as we don’t seem to get many draws.
  5. What makes you think Chelsea and Man U would loan out players they are using? The other 2 maybe more realistic although both clubs around play off mix so unlikely to sell unless at a massive premium.

    Kortney Hause

I like Hause, he is real unit and we don’t get bullied as much on the deck or in the air when he plays. He’s still learning so playing in a 3 will suit him well. He tries to play out too and is a capable footballer. He has come along way since that Wigan debut.
  7. Things we learnt today: Wesley is better than Kodjia. 3 at the back is good. Mings is still good, despite his dip in form prior to injury. Jack Grealish is incredibly good (although we already knew that).
  8. It was making a comparison between Wesley and Kodjia. I wasn’t seriously demanding people should hang their heads in shame.
  9. Did you not watch the game? Kodjia was a liability. The thing with replacing Wesley, it had to be with someone who is better. As Keinan is unfit and As Delphino123 isn’t registered to play there wasn’t any better options.
  10. Everyone who wanted Kodjia in for Wesley hang your heads in shame.
  11. Their main threat and our main weakness is crosses/corners. Hause is the best we have at defensive headers so he plays and even if Mings is fit, Hause should be left back. Grealish back in the middle and Hourihane back on the bench. Hopefully Keinan is fit for this. Heaton Gilbert Konsa Mings Hause Nakamba El Ghazi Grealish Luiz Trezeguet Davis (if fit)
  12. I haven’t heard an update on Keinan’s fitness, so I expect Wesley starts tomorrow. As much as this may trigger some people, I also think Smith will want his height to defend set pieces since Burnley are world champions at head volleyball.
  13. Totally agree on the last bit particularly. Although every club has elements of it’s fan base that are toxic. I don’t think this is the exclusive reserve of Villa fans, I suspect it’s every big club that is currently underachieving, Arsenal, Everton, Man U, West Ham etc will be the same, if not worse. Social media and forums aren’t representative of the mood at the grounds though, well at least until we go behind. It’s difficult for fans to continually be up for it like the Everton game which was exceptionally good. The poor results ebb away at the confidence of fans as well as players and then of course it’s counter productive unfortunately.
  14. Or some may say different fans have different opinions.
  15. Probably happens at every club. In isolation that incident wouldn’t be a major concern if he could play. But if he’s still drinking then must be a false link.
  16. 11 appearances in PL this season. Mainly off the bench.
  17. Fair enough, it’s that’s the case then I assume it’s a false link or do those events pre date his move to Burnley? Presumably he could have wised up, although seems unlikely.
  18. A team hoping for top 4 aren’t about to weaken their squad by selling players who they use, even if they are not first choice.
  19. I assume the club would have looked into the current state of Drinkwater’s mental health and liver.. Assuming he is ok on both of those fronts it’s a low risk signing. If he rocks the boat he can be sent back to Chelsea. Football wise, I’ve no idea as haven’t seen him play for so long, which is presumably the case for Smith and Co too. As such if we are to sign him it should be before the FA Cup game so he can play in that before he gets used in PL or semi’s. I also guess Heaton would have mates at Burnley who he can ask about Drinkwater’s attitude/application etc.
  20. Agree we need a new striker but Davis is not in the same mould as Wesley. His strength is his hold up play and every forward we have had struggled under Bruce. If Davis got the service Tammy got last season he would have scored plenty. Davis only played 121 minutes of football last season, so to write him off based on his first senior season when he was 19 isn’t right for me.
  21. Smith clearly thinks a tired Wesley is still a better option than Kodjia. I agree I was expecting Kodjia to start. Maybe Kodjia was slightly ill or his head wasn’t right, move imminent etc. As we’ve seen very little of Kodjia I think it’s hard to know if he would do better. Obviously he couldn’t score less goals at present but as bad as a lot on this forum thinks Wesley is, Kodjia could well be worse. I’m sure Davis comes in as soon as he is fit.
  22. Wow, incredible. Perhaps we should boo the whole team, except Jack and Heaton so they all know they aren’t cutting it and Smith can then drop them all. That should get the confidence going and fire us up the league. Fortunately the replacements are of such high quality what could possibly go wrong?
  23. Agree we need another striker but no one is going to score 2/3 goals a game, which is what we need to get any points with this current defence/set up. We need improvements defensively too.
  24. Yes, no surprise. Pushing for a winner/equaliser at home in the last 20 minutes he is a good bench option but he simply cannot start games in the PL, as we are not good enough to carry him.
