  1. I am not too concerned. I think Ollie was speaking in frustration at dropping the three points yesterday, I think OW is selecting and magnifying negatives too. I am sure when he reflects back on the full game - he will see a lot of positives. I get Ollie's sentiment (some of what he said) but I think it would have been better said internally - don't feed the media machine or shit on your colleagues. I think we have shown a "big team" mentality considering the injury list we have, which is the worst in the league. Since the Utd defeat - we fought back to win at Luton, we fought back to gain a point yesterday. Don't get me wrong, we have weaknesses but the team are in a new territory and there has been progression in the mentality since the Utd defeat in Dec. As Emery said...."be balanced"
  2. Why do you think three great players? I can us being open to selling Kessler-Hayden and Tim, plus maybe Mings to Ipswich. Duran for a huge fee. I think we can intelligently player trade without overly harming our core team.
  3. New Aston/Witton 55k-60k community stadium/hub next to VP rather than re-developing NS & DE stands - which will also involve buying houses/land (but without reducing the capacity of VP in the short term).
  4. The NS seemed to be cancelled when Atairos became partners.
  5. I never said hoodwinked. The original plan was proven to be idealistic and has been down-scaled. That is okay, sometimes there are sound reasons for plans to be reduced. However, I am disappointed (and a little impatient) by the lack of clear communication on the re-development. I have been unfair on Purslow upon reflection of information provided by posters on this thread. Heck & Hatton are picking up the project and adding their views - the re-development has been a bit messy lets be honest. There has been a gap in information and communication from Purslow to Heck. I suppose more communication will come out about the actual future of VP in the coming weeks & months.
  6. City's build up from the back may suit Duran's energetic pressing game. This is a big moment for the lad - I believe he could thrive under the pressure tbh.
  7. More like Villa Park/Birmingham/West Midlands bid to be a hosting stadium at the Euros rather than the FA. The FA don't care about Villa.
  8. The badge is subjective, I would have been happy with the round badge for what it was worth. Lets get behind it, move forward. Purslow was still in charge at the point of the Brighton game? I can't remember. I just wanted us to go in one direction fully, not half hearted. Perhaps I am blaming Purslow for decisions out of his control. A (red) brick hasn't been laid so it is fair to say the North Stand was/is all talk for what it is worth. It is helpful talk in regards to the Euros and Witton Station I imagine. The North Stand has been promised three times but cancelled at each occasion. It begs the question why?!
  9. Purslow is/was an excellent communicator and is knowledgable about English football. Purslow stood up for Villa, I get that and appreciate it. He championed our progression under NSWE and did a lot of good work in other areas too. But how it ended for Purslow wasn't great. Perhaps I am being harsh about the botched badge launch but it was something promised by CP and not delivered. Heck wasn't the only person that didn't like the badge too, lets be honest about that too. Heck/Hatton have made a meal out of handling the new badge with the fan consultation, but lets see where we end up with the "new badge". I can also interpret CP intentions positively, but if the re-development was just bluster - I feel a bit let down by Purslow, I rather have the truth rather than a plan that will never materialise. Lerner and Ellis having similar plans but not being able to achieve them means it is a lot harder to build NS in reality. I think any serious re-development starts with DE stand. Perhaps explore the space in between Witton lane and the railway lines as OBE says. But why rebuild two new stands? When you can build a new, dedicated stadium from scratch in that space between witton lane and the railway line (20 plus arces) without the need to reduce capacity. This re-development all feels like a pretext to a new stadium in the longer term.
  10. One of the prior ceo's vanity projects, expensive mistakes seemed to be the pattern in the end - Gerrard appointment, Coutinho signing, botched launch of the new round badge (which reportedly cost millions) to name a few. I don't think VP hosting the euros is/was a given without re-development. You would imagine a re-developed VP would have given significant weight to our Euro bid, plus the witton station upgrades. The club currently working with Uefa/FA in regards to Euro 2028 was the last word.
  11. I have just been looking at the future vision of Villa Park on the OS. The connection of the North Stand to the Doug Ellis stand looks weird from inside the stadium. There is not a clear picture showing the new NS linking with DE too. The DE stand is too tucked in for proper NS re-development. Surely the DE stand has to be rebuilt first (or together with NS) to properly maximise every seat/space? I think this makes a new stadium more likely post 2028-30. The cynic in me thinks this North Stand re-development plan was created to support the VP Euro bid and Witton Station upgrades, but with no intention of the new NS becoming reality because it is not that feasible to achieve. Also seems like we could be copying Rangers with the stadium bowl plan - they are increasing capacity by extending the upper tiers of their stands and also adding more accessibility spaces.
  12. The site is closer to the city centre and the bigger stations (HS2 coming too). But VP/Brookvale/Tame industrial area is a better location to trains stations near our ground. I think the council may prefer the ground being closer to Birmingham City Centre though.
  13. I think we need to be taking the City game more seriously. 3rd is in sight, enjoy and look forward.
  14. Great to see him gaining some confidence in the past few weeks.
  15. If it is a new stadium in Aston, it would probably be this site as it has been/was earmarked for regeneration - about a mile closer to city centre than VP.
  16. It is what we do now. We won today. We keep moving forward.
  17. Remember Coutinho guys!
  18. Yup. All for a youth development tournament....great.
  19. Yh. Credit to the club for intervening and having him assessed.
  20. I don't disagree. I don't think the club will build a new stadium, it is more than likely re-development of the NS & DE stands post 2028. Over the next 10-20 years, expanding the club's land will be key to further growth. It is a positive that the club has already built the Brookvale academy and seems to be slowly encroaching on that area. Surely with any capacity increase - you will have to imagine that the club will also be thinking of constructing more physical infrastructure - dedicated women's stadium, Villa Live/ larger Fan Park/ Parking. It becomes less about a new stadium but more about a campus/resort in the longer term. Atairos haven't joined us to stand still....
  21. I do think that is true with regards to Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher.
