  1. You are skimming over some very important aspects of that era. Hitler was not democratically elected. Reichstag fire (regardless of who you attribute blame of the arson to). Nazi stormtroopers unleashing a wave of violence against opposition political groups. SA and SS monitoring voting. The enabling act. Just a few factors missed.
  2. Three months without medication. Clinic called me last week, my case manager, a fantastic young psychologist. He asked if i could come in that day with a tone of urgency. I asked if it was in relation to my medication, while thinking that the last session i had where i spoke with a sense of urgency i was nearly admitted to psychiatric confinement. I let him know last week, as best i could, that i was doing fine.
  3. I've read the book. I used to own two copies. The Dokkodo is a concise exert of principles that will always stay with me.
  4. Unai Just what i hoped would happen.
  5. Not some weeks ago we were in the title race. The games that determined our falling off were displays from us that, while ultimately weren't enough, gave an idea of this team's identity. We are in the contest, and oftentimes thriving. Yes, we are still a work in progress, and yes, we've been punished by the competition at times. I feel like we shot ourselves in the foot against Spurs more than they played anything wordly. And that's what hurts most. Even amid all the challenges we have had to deal with this season while challenging for UCL, as well as progressing through UECL. We've for the most part rose to the occasion and delivered. Hasnt always been what youd want, but we are still in the hunt and thats an incredible feat. I still have faith that these last games to be played will be an indication of how difficult we are to face and how determined we are to establish ourselves among the best. Spurs inbetween Ajax fixtures in the knockout. Could you script a tougher run in? I think despite the heavy knock back, we are built for this. UTV!!
  6. Forgive me if I'm missing something here or taking your posts out of context @paul514 1. Dougie 2. Kamara 3. McGinn 4. Tielemans 5. Ramsey 6. Tim 7. Buendia We have a great depth and ability on the ball in Central Defense also, albeit hampered by injury. I'm open to the idea our team has been given a difficult time of it in terms of recruitment ideals and mitigating against injury, and considering maybe they've done quite well
  7. Complete guesswork on my behalf but a player of Roger's promise and talent would probably not only have license to play with freedom but may actually have the tactical approach built around him. Again I've got no insight into the situation at Middlesbrough, though if it was that way it's fairly likely he was treated like a gem on and off the pitch. I don't really see Pep and his time at City being anything but demanding to see if he was going to cut it at the level they expect of anyone commanding minutes in the first team eleven.
  8. It's not so much the challenge itself but the timing of a rash and unnecessary foul from our captain that i believe, people have every right to be looking at.
  9. Created some okay opportunities early on. Unai and the team can look back at that and hold heads high. Let the nerves get the better of us after going down. Within minutes it's cost us double the deficit. Captain's rush of blood left us with half an hour to play and without much to look to for on field inspiration. Spurs finish the tie with a result that flatters them enormously, yet could be catalyst for them to go on and take 4th by season's end. I'm really disappointed because while i don't see Unai allowing us to throw a pity party for ourselves and capitulate. This could be what Spurs use to fuel better performances and get some momentum going.
  10. Said it was our biggest league game in recent history pre-match and post match that tackle is the furthest it can get just about from a captain's display. Huge fan of McGinn, however considering the deficit was two goals and there was time to inspire a comeback, bitterly disappointed. I'd go as far to say it's a cop out in terms of captain's leadership.
  11. One swallow doesn't make a summer. There's a long ways to go before we can determine the answer to OP's question. And like one successful season won't define seasons to come, yet to be played. One loss doesn't mean this season's champions league spot is now beyond us.
  12. Deft with that left, solid finisher. As youve said he has a nous for finding himself in position where all he needs is that first time strike. Great ability to possess. That alone can make a striker. Hes not a striker though and i do wonder about how he will contribute to the team dynamic. Not doubting him but i was confident in Bailey's finding not just form but establishment in this side. I dont know with Diaby, but sense that he and Unai will have to come together, and hopefully as consequence the team benefits.
  13. They call them Two-Tecs, they tote like two tecs, And when they start to bust they like to ask, Who's next?
  14. I've only ever played semi professionally in Australia's third tier in basketball. While we have a decent national team and representation in the NBA, the standard of play is nowhere near the best. I've never been athletically blessed or fitness focused but have held my own against guys who averaged well over 20ppg in the NCAA, and who were predicted to be drafted into the NBA but for whatever reason opted for the NBL in Australia and even matching up against me. Point here is this. I dont think i would have a chance of competing with the stamina of most Premier League players. The conditioning would be worlds apart. Yet ive gone injury free since 2003 and played the kind of hours at semi pro level for years that would make me think its less to do with the body holding up fitness wise, and more to do with situations that are not just strenuous, which is trained for, but too compromising of natural postures and body alignment if that makes sense? Im no expert though and i don't pretend to be just hoping that may be a shot in the dark struck with some luck
  15. We have also beaten Arsenal, beaten Spurs, beaten City!! City was a great display from us. However nervy and however many chances that 'could' have been for our opponents during the North London fixtures, we came out on top. We have shown nerve and come out on the winning side when it mattered so much so that we are still in the title race. We won't win it. Fourth would be unreal. That we are even discussing a few results as reason we wont win the whole league shows that we have gone above and beyond expectations. Totally defied the odds. Im not confident in this game. However i am struggling to find the words for how we've done this season. Its been great. We've been great. And thanks among the likes of some very strong teams, historically. Don't lose sight of that because we may not be able to hold on to what, up to this point, we have every bloody right to hope we will bring home come seasons end.
  16. Albanian ref No clue as to whether commentators highlight country for sake of it or if he is refereeing in Albania primarily
  17. I dont know how a neighbour of mine managed interrupt a match that started at 4:45am for near it's entirety. Got the last 15 minutes to myself. Decent result Good to see contributions from Zaniolo, Bailey and McGinn. No doubt Emi had moment that helped us see off a threat. Some times teams cancel each other out in the contest and it gets all over the place as a consequence, that's what i could make of the little i saw without being almost completely distracted I'll take it.
  18. Neither do I and I'm glad to be able to have the discussion, thanks to you bringing it up. You and the rest of us know of the potency that Spurs can bring going forward. Finding a way to win which involves getting forward will mean open space and Spurs' players, Son above all, a craftsman of creating and finishing in these situations, is something we will have to address. Honestly see where you are coming from, i see it as it being dealt with by in the moment decison making and executing solid defensive skill, either individually or collectively. Sure tactics have an immense influence but tactically i dont want us to compromise what weve built, if that makes sense?
  19. It's an interesting thought that i hadn't considered. I like where you are coming from in the sense that you're considering beyond this one match, and how that may determine our standing come the season's end. Is that the right driving force to be approaching this game? Spurs i must admit, similar to Arsenal, may have felt they could have walked away with more from the first fixture in which we versed them. We are at a different stage of the season now however. I dont watch Spurs. I watch us. My tactical insights and predictions aren't all that valuable outside of expressing interest. Without wanting to get carried away, im posting to thank you for the thought and post, and also to question if it is indeed wise. We are third and they are fourth. We beat them in the first meeting, and while they, in that game, showed how close they were to a different result, i don't think just because it was a nervy win what we've done all season to be where we are now, gets put on hold because Spurs victory in this match would be detrimental to us. So they have they strengths and we want to mitigate the threat. That's a tactical consideration in every fixture. We shouldn't be playing in fear and preparing ourselves around the idea that Spurs getting some ground back on us is what will determine the season for us. It's our strengths and how great a threat we are that will. Great displays of build up and possession play have come out of our camp. There's the adage from Brazil that the ball doesn't have lungs. It's tiring to chase, and it's as much mental as physical. I'm not saying we will have more of the ball, I'm saying the intent of how we setup. Catenaccio principles are great as are the tactics and players that came from it, but even without our best on the ball I'd say our team has a better chance doing our share of creating in this tie. Spurs will potentially gain some opportunities from that and hopefully we deal with that
  20. I'm not sure if we were in for him, I've seen his name on the boards before. Able to play left side or central as a forward, not something we have in huge abundance in terms of left sided forward, or a player who can create in the way he does it would add another dimension to our attack. Thats if he were to fit in though. Was just a thought definitely not one I'll be giving much energy beyond this as its unlikely.
  21. We will be more influential in our run in than i feel will be given credit to. Atmosphere is so important. Say we lose to Spurs, and Ajax knock us out.. We then for whatever reason struggle for points against WHU, WW and MC. How do you think the noise and experience will be from a crowd perspective? Pivotal.
  22. If we are talking about 50million pound transfers, then I'd say he's one established Premier League player I'd go for based on what ive said However the dont mind me is because i understand the point you're making and theres probably better for a number of reasons out there
  23. I really hope Unai and our team are prepared and not as underestimating of Ajax as we seem to be here online. 2019 they were semi finalists in the UCL and have been a knockout stage feature again since. I know where we are at, but there's so many more factors that determines what's going on, any time two teams meet, than who is stronger on paper I think Ajax prioritizes this competition and specifically this fixture, as one they want to give their all and win.
