  1. I might've mentioned it a few pages back, but anyone saying he might be exposed in the PL should check his goal tally. Think he averages 6 a season. Not a bad contribution, especially considering he's playing for teams who don't score a bucketload.
  2. I'm not lying when I say another forums member touted Gollini to hold the potential of Courtois/De Gea/Lloris. That was the last I heard of him about a two months ago. Wonder what the comparison was based on.
  3. I don't Onomah's a decent player, and it would seem is not being played in his position. I still want to see O'Hare given opportunity, I think he's first in behind Grealish in the AM role. Whereas Onomah should be behind Hourihane in CM. He's just not creative enough to play in a free role behind the striker. I still think he has decent build up play though.
  4. I watched the second half so my only comment can be to confirm that once we went behind, we never looked much of a threat, and 2-0 was game over.
  5. While I enjoy the sentiments, I don't agree. I think Gerrard's slip might, in hindsight, of cost them the league had it happened in Gameweek 1. It was a very important fixture for them. Part of working together, and all else you mention, is a lack of mistakes. For example, we may have aquired a point yesterday, had Johnstone not put us 2-0 down, making having to chase the game harder. I'm not on Bruce's back at all here though.
  6. Moments before he kicked the ball, I actually envisioned it going straight to a Fulham player for a goal, although I envisioned him slipping. Wasn't a game that bred a lot of confidence in the team for the most part.
  7. Don't understand the point of this thread, other than to say you perhaps think, under better guidance, the team that was relegated could have performed better under different guidance. I put it to you that under better backing, Paul Lambert might've done a better job than Sherwood, or Garde. That's irrelevant now though isn't it. For what it's worth, I don't agree with your judgement on the comparison of players. I think, from Team A, Gueye, Gil, Amavi and perhaps Traore (I might put him ahead of Adomah, but not Snodgrass) could be better options than those in Team B.
  8. We can't even say it would of ended 1-0. We would've still been in the game much more than we were after going 2-0 and having to chase. Might've got a point out of the game.
  9. I think O'Hare is possibly the more creative between him and Onomah. That said I wonder if Onomah is an AM? As I would of thought he is more a CM with the way he knocks it about. From what I've seen this season I would say they are on a fairly even level when it comes to positive contribution. Onomah having a lot more playing time and opportunity, and obviously mistakes. It's unknown whether O'Hare would continue to show the bright sparks that he has, but I am also wanting to see him given further opportunity with Onomah out of form.
  10. I suppose it's easy for me to suggest, I wouldn't have to attend, living in Australia and all.
  11. 'Evening Rob. Let's hope your 4-1 is a winner tonight!
  12. What he has been paid by us for what he's done is ridiculous, but I don't hold that against him, same goes for nearly every footballer. Still one of my favourite players of all time. I don't look in to that one too much though. Now I'm typing it, I never thought I'd say that about anyone guaranteed to miss a 1v1 with an open net. He's had his moments though and to me there's a balance there. I think it a bit harsh not to give a testimonial to someone with over 300 games. His goal record isn't even that horrific.
  13. He's been vital this season. Someone who has a decent record of goal contribution in the Premier League too. I think he averages 6 per season. As an average that's pretty good, and I'd point directly to that stat for anyone saying he's championship quality at best.
  14. While you make some good and understandable points, I'll stick with my sentiments. Spending 10m on N'Zogbia was probably the equivalent of spending 20-30m nowadays. I like Jack. You can take your money and stick it!
  15. I share this sentiment. From a somewhat practical perspective too I think. There's no guarantee we could attract a player of equal talent. I genuinely think Jack can be up there with the best of them. He's by no means close to it yet, but the potential is there. I'm talking David Silva, Juan Mata, Willian, Wilshere type impact on Premier League games. If he did ascend to that level of play we know from experience we just won't attract that level of skill without having other players of similar calibre as leverage to convince others to sign. Even if Jack doesn't become as good as I think he can, we know how important it is having even decent level Premier League players around can be. Losing Ashley Young, Milner, Barry and Delph were significant blows to our Premier League stature. Benteke was on another level while here, but same consequence. Look at how spreading their transfer fees thin over the squad went for us.
  16. Because people tend to act like they think. Maybe that's your kind of Tuesday night in. Not having a dig if it is, give the neighbours something to gossip about perhaps.
  17. I tend to avoid being overly critical of anyone, whether they have had difficulty imposed on them or impose it on others. There are no good and bad eggs in my view, everyone is different and it's about learning to work together, not writing people off. But I don't want to get too political. This thread is for Ross and Aston Villa. I think if mental health or substance abuse is an issue we're in no position to judge Ross, it's unpleasant for everyone involved, so I don't see the point in trying to determine who is greater at fault. It's about finding a remedy for the situation first and foremost, but as a football club, I don't think Aston Villa need to be McCormack's only support network. If he is having serious issues, maybe football is not the priority right now. As said above though, it's speculation and assumption for the most part, but if it were to be the case I don't think Aston Villa are solely responsible for him, and he needs to respect this is a football club, despite it's resources, and that if he is not considered a positive contributor, he needs to look at other avenues or a change in behaviour.
  18. When in the last 10 years did they finish above 10th? The best they did was finish 10th, under Bruce. That said, I don't really know what kind of money you're talking about.
  19. He's only really competing with Grealish and Onomah for the AM position though isn't he? Not that he'll displace either, just thought he might see some minutes as a sub.
  20. Out of curiousity, anyone know who the player was that City were offering for Mahrez?
  21. I'm not surprised he got a new deal. Who else are they going to appoint? Benitez? Mourinho has them in 2nd. Guardiola has the stronger, deeper squad, with more cohesion and playing time amongst each other (for the better players). People like Fergie don't come around too often. Man United isn't a shoe in to find the next one either. Mourinho suits them fine. He may even win the Premier League or Champions League with them. Does Guardiola walk/cop the sack if City don't win the Champions League too?
  22. If he's as competent as Onomah in his respective position, this is a good signing. He'll certainly get minutes, even at CB, Terry is not going to play every game for 90 minutes. Then there is DM where if he is any good, he will get a chance to displace the three players being used there this season.
  23. I don't speak with any authority on Kodjia's position, I don't even know the specifics of his current injury. That said there are a few injuries you can obtain which are career ending, probably not all that insightful, I know. I was just chatting yesterday to a fellow basketball player who's professional career was ended at a very young age, he didn't give me his age but mentioned that he was in his 2nd season back from playing college ball in the states when the injury hit. One year to get full movement back and professional career over apparently. I'm obviously no doctor but it happens. I was hoping to receive better news by entering this thread. All the best Kodjia!
  24. It won't be as soon as he'd of thought, but I wouldn't be surprised if this man does take Villa back to European competition.
