  1. Absolutely love it! What next Tom Hanks brought onto the board!?
  2. ****. Nervous about this news about Man U. threatening to pull out of the Sancho deal. If they do, then Jack goes, surely...
  3. I think you might be conflating 'news' with 'just another opinion'.
  4. Struggle to understand some of the pessimism. Even with the exact same squad, I think *next* season we would finish around 10th/11th. Imagine not having our spine ripped apart last season. A full season with John McGinn regaining his super, Heaton in goal, Wesley continuing his improvement plus having fully settled in a new culture. If Jack stays, plus these new signings, it's top 8 for me. We'll be chasing a European place, no doubt in my mind.
  5. Except Grealish won't sulk throughout an entire season, is way younger, better, and will only improve.
  6. Surely Grealish to Man United is ruled out now that £90m is being spent bringing in Sancho. They were already pretty well covered in midfield. No way they'll splash out another £80 for that position.
  7. "probably not much better than 15th over the next 5 years".... To use your own words... "Hmmmm..."
  8. Exactly my feeling. If we do, and we then have a terrific season; 7/8th, I think it likely Jack would stay and perhaps even sign a new contract with a buy-out clause. That's the price. Pay it or leave us alone.
  9. Possibly. But I can't see Arsenal finishing in the top 4 for some time to come. Arguably, they are now the 6th biggest team in England, and they would have to have an extraordinary outlay on players/season to finish above the likes of Man United, Chelsea, Spurs... who will undoubtedly be challenging for top 4, beside the obvious, bigger and better two. So I just can't see him leaving us for that kind of challenge. The rose tinted bit, is seeing us vying for a European place, just as Arsenal will.
  10. So, so, pleased to say this... Villa are a bigger/better proposition than Arsenal over the next few seasons. This would never be a big enough move to tempt him, surely.
  11. Read in the Mail that this famous buy-back-clause for City actually expires next summer. Which probably makes next summer absolutely key in whether he's here for the long-term, and then becomes so good Barca come scouting.
  12. Sorry mate, it was more sarcasm than criticism... hence the interrobang - !? I'm really not someone who can bring themselves to use emoji's; a winky emoji would have summed my tone up here. The exasperation stands however!
  13. Are you genuinely a Villa fan!? We aren't Brentford. Plus we have some of the richest owners in world football, and who cares what the 'model' is. We will 100% not consider a miserable 15m profit on a consummate professional, leader, and player who seems to embody Villa's sense of recent success.
  14. I just can't understand how people can equate the two here. You're not sure who should stay out of a choice of a raw 23 year old who developed into a focal point for the team, who showed genuine promise, or a 27 year old who offers no goal threat and can't hold the ball up. I certainly know who I would favour out of the two. Completely understand the thinking behind the move for Samatta, but he looks every bit the no other option panic buy that he was.
  15. Christ, can see the Jack Grealish thread becoming the new anxiety-inducing Relegation thread for the summer.
  16. Not sure the owners will want a 27 year old 4th/5th choice striker (hopefully by the end of the summer) hanging around eating up wages and bench space. First out the door for me.
  17. You think he's going to be toilet? Bit harsh!
  18. Just one of the fantastic things about survival is the probability of keeping Douglas Luiz. Although reports suggest otherwise, I can't see him being bought back to City. He's under contract, and we don't need to sell. Turned into the best summer signing of the lot.
  19. Not true, I don't think. The *real* test is each and every season. Saved us from bankruptcy. Piled in more money than most teams spent across Europe for a PL campaign. Wisely kept faith with the manager instead of panicking. Will undoubtedly spend again over the next few weeks. Faultless.
  20. Not to stray too far from the point, but, what politics?
