  1. It would be interesting to see how he got on up in here in Scotland. However I’d be inclined to use his impact to judge the quality of The Scottish PL rather than Scott Hogan, as he has already set a benchmark for what he’s capable of in The Championship.
  2. I think one of the problems regarding fees is that we’re a little behind the times. Since we went down fees have rocketed. What we paid for Darren Bent, a proven goal scorer, now gets you a young unproven prospect such as Wesley. We've had to cover so many positions in one window and so we’ve filled the squad with largely average players or players with potential and spent around £10 million a head. Where as the likes of West Ham who have been up here for a few season and were given a stadium are paying £20 million + for their squad fillers.
  3. He’s 37 but thought to be a late developer. Luke Moore is his older brother.
  4. I think what you’re missing is, that the club have spotted a gap in the market. Since the sad passing of Thora Hird nobody has fully replaced her in the stairlift marketing department. FFP sorted.
  5. I must confess the link is a little tenuous. However I have heard that Savage has the same number of legs as Vida. Although obviously not the same number of fingers.
  6. I think we may have had a decent offer for Kalnic and so we’re getting in the cover before we let him go.
  7. Thanks for posting that and putting more accuracy to the story. It just goes to show what a total idiot Savage is. I heard him on the radio a few years ago when he was getting towards the end of playing for Derby. He was banging on about his new “media career”. It was embarrassing except the fact that the BBC were and are stupid enough to employ him, because in their heads he is a bit of a maverick because he can’t speak properly and has got long hair. Anyway this old boy phoned in and told him what a rubbish player he was and couldn’t kick a ball straight for more than 5 yards. Savage lost it and was saying he had no right to say what he did and he’d disrespected him. The old Derby fan just laughed and said something like he was quite happy to pop round and tell him to his face. Radio gold!
  8. Apparently when Graham Souness was managing Blackburn, I think it was, Savage said to him that he (Savage) was twice the midfielder that Souness ever was. Souness replied, fair enough come and see me after the game and we can chat about it. You bring your medals and I’ll bring mine. Savage, obviously didn’t show. Off topic sorry, but any excuse to have a dig at that spineless excuse for a human.
  9. Fret not fair gentlemen. Danny will soon be controlling the central midfield and we will all be calling him “The D Man”. He’ll be brilliant playing with the G Man and when he’s back fit the McG Man. We could sign the P Man and even the B Man. There’s a whole alphabet out there! It’s all gonna be great! UTV!!!!!

    Louie Barry

We had a big fall out with Brighton over Gareth Barry all those years ago.
  11. At £4 million you’re buying potential and at a big risk. Sometimes they work out, like John McGinn, but often they don’t or at least take time and patience to develop. I think we have the set up now to develop players but instant hits and guaranteed bargains are very few and far between. In theory the more you spend on a player the lower the risk and generally means they have already developed to some extent and are on the radar of most clubs. It’s never an exact science and I’d imagine there are very few gems that are under the radar and most clubs have and army of scouts looking for the next one. I’d agree with you that our scouting system has been diabolical for years, but like a lot of things under the new ownership it is in development stage itself. I’d image a top network of scouts takes years to put together. I once met a man who’s father had found George Best for United. He was so well thought of that even after all those years Fergie regularly visited his Dad in hospital and attended his funeral. His son still got on with Fergie well and he would always get him tickets for games when he was over from Ireland. I’m fact Fergie discovered that this guy was occasionally struggling to get tickets as he didn’t get over that often and so gave him his personal mobile number and said just call me if you have any further problems. That’s how rare and highly prized a top scout is.
  12. Plus there’s no chance he will be showing us pictures of his new Merc for a while....
  13. And point a lot. My mate used to call Westwood “Pointy”.
  14. I agree but the key word is was. I think his time as a great striker has now sadly passed.
  15. In his defence he wouldn’t be the first good player who moved to Chelsea and went downhill. The hope is he realises he’s drinking (water) in the last chance saloon and gets back to something like his Leicester form. We play completely differently to Burnley and so perhaps we can still get a tune out of him. It’s a short term stop gap and we’re in a tricky situation, no need for the screaming abdabs. We havent just blown the entire budget on Bosco Balaban!
  16. If Maupay has signed for us, by now he would have exhibited some flaws and missed some chances, like all played do. The Neil Maupay thread would have been littered with posters saying stuff like, “Not good enough for PL”, “Lacks quality”, “Not a natural goal scorer” and of course, “I heard we were linked to a player called Wesley, we really missed out there”.
  17. I’m not sure about that but we’d definitely be in the top 1.
  18. The last thing we need is a dick head up front.
  19. That’s the sun rising over Costa Del Salford on a bin day.
