  1. Wow. First time I've watched sheff unites in a couple of months. They are a horrible, horrible watch.
  2. What's the difference between Matty cash not getting close enough to stop the cross at west ham allowing Bowen to score and matty cash not stopping the cross to allow dendoncker a pretty simple tap in from 6 yards? The only difference is one scores and the other doesn't. I suppose the questions here will be ignored too.
  3. We've lost the same amount of games this season.
  4. Game A: Opposition: Shots 6. On target 2. Villa: Shots 16. On target 6. Game B: Opposition: Shots: 16. On target 7. Villa: Shots 13. On target 2. One we win, one we lose. Have a guess which and which was a more 'rounded' performance.
  5. Put him down as MOTM for me. Martinez was the obvious choice, but he deserved some credit. Kept Adama quiet and when he did get booked, it was actually a fantastic challenge. Fantastic performance from him. Written off so early by many, proving his worth now.
  6. But here is where your argument completely collapses for me, @TRO. We gave wolves more chances than in any defeat, barring Leeds. We've all agreed Leeds wasn't good enough. the difference being, they didn't take them and have a 100% shot on target to goal ratio. I'm thinking Fabio silva hitting the post, dendoncker missing a sitter from 8 yards, we allowed Neto a shot from 20 yards which flew just wide (that's the kind of shot that flies in in recent weeks). We gave them free kicks in and around our box and wolves wasted them. They had a good chance in the first half I can't remember who it fell to. Name another defeat where we've given the opposition this amount of good chances? Apart from Leeds? On top of that, we created so little ourselves. Have we created this little all season??? Just because it was backs to wall, 10 men and the like, doesn't make it rounded. WE GOT LUCKY yesterday. But this is what a large number of us have been saying. What was happening against us wasn't sustainable. Yesterday just proves that theory for me, as opposed to us doing much good.
  7. Which in my opinion, would be the correct decision. Burnley will put balls in the box and have wood/Rodriguez attack them. Having a big man defending the back post, someone who is good in the air will be the correct call.
  8. This bit in bold is so true. I would put that performance today as in our poorest 3 performances this season. And yet we've walked away with 3 points. It's amazing when you have a bit of luck, screamers don't fly in the top corner and the opposition actually miss one of their chances we get a result.

    Quiz!

The Madrid one was a silly error, agreed. I have never ever known fenerbahce to spelt that way. Never even looked at it properly.

    Quiz!

I officially got 38, but I tried putting in galatasaray, fenerbache and athletico Madrid and they didn't come up. So I'm claiming 41.
  11. Or perhaps we tried but the pull of juventus was too much? Would we overpower juventus in the transfer market? I highly doubt it. We can't say either way wether we missed him or he chose somebody else.
  12. I thought we didn't press and allowed the opposition to play the game they want?
  13. Imagine villa had lost 9-0 at home to Leicester. Hassenhuttl wouldn't have survived here... It really is a lesson for patience when criticising every goal conceded and every defeat after we dominate a game.
  14. What has this got to do with anything at all? Does it make you a Better fan? Does it mean you have a better understanding of football? Not even close. I hear shouts from more travelled fans sat by me at games, hear chat from more travelled supporters (villa and non villa) at work and in general life and absolutely cringe at what they say. Going to villa park doesn't necessarily mean you have a better understanding or you're correct. Much like quoting managers from 40/50 years ago. They knew the game of their era inside out, no doubt. Today's game is very different.

    Matty Cash

Just gone back to rewatch the second goal. His positioning talked about here isn't the main problem for me. He is too narrow, I think most full backs will be told to tuck in (not as much as he is) because the ball has to travel past him to get to benrahma which is where he should then have time to close down. Also, if he is too far separated from his CB, he is vulnerable to the ball in the gap for benrahma to run into. Also, benrahma isn't hugging the touchline at all really. It's the intensity with which he closes down which is the main problem for me. He doesn't do enough to stop the cross. Benrahma doesn't do much to make space to deliver a cross. He just has time to pick the perfect cross. Particularly as we all know benrahma will always cut inside onto his right foot, he has to do more to stop the cross. He's a work in progress though, and has done well in the main.
  16. Also, and I admit I may be completely wrong as I haven't watched all our games this season, but the games I have watched... I can't remember many decent chances being created from set pieces?
  17. 2 set piece goals conceded in 9 games poor? That's nearly 25% of the way through the season with 2 set piece goals conceded. Just for clarification, last season's title winners conceded 7 all season. The seasons before title winners conceded 9 goals from set pieces. Carry on our current trajectory, we will concede 8. Horrendous. Smith out
  18. The one last night came on his stronger foot too. The one against us on his weaker. I suppose the standard is set by some, it's either keep a clean sheet or bust for Smith.
  19. It's funny you say this, because I watched the game closely last night. Both sides created more against each other than they did against us. Both had more chances and shots. Brighton nearly doubled their tally of shots last night as they did against us. Not bad for such a nullifying encounter. It's also funny how the ball was played to March in almost exactly the same position he scored against us. He was closed down pretty identically to how we closed him down. This chance March had came on his stronger left foot. He completely miskewed his strike and sliced it well wide. On his stronger foot. Against us, it flies in the top corner. On his weaker foot. Can you explain to me what we did wrong here against what Southampton done brilliantly to stop Brighton? Or was it just the luck of the draw in this instance. It's also interesting to see how, when a decision goes your way, you get a result. It shouldn't have been given a penalty to Southampton. They get a win. Southampton didn't deserve to win. And yet get the win. You talk about making your own luck, yet Southampton twice allowed Brighton free headers/efforts from about 8 yards out when free kicks went behind their defensive line. They didn't make their own luck last night, and yet they still got lucky. We have had very little luck in recent weeks. But we do no different to Southampton last night against Brighton (in fact, we restricted them to less chances and created far more ourselves) and we walk away with 0 points and they walk away with 3. It's called football. Play like we have been and results will come, I very much believe this to be true.
  20. Pretty bizarre argument in here. It's simple for me. If someone misses 4 out of 6 penalties, they shouldn't be on them. He can practice them, of course. He can get better, of course. But right now, as we speak he's missed 4 out of 6. Like @KentVillan said, it's a test of mental strength. That kind of record will certainly be on someone's mind. None of this makes me dislike Watkins or not rate him, completely opposite. He strikes me as someone who will go away and work bloody hard to make himself better at this. So, let him do that.
  21. I actually think, if they play 4 at the back like they have the last couple of games, then it will play into our hands. Missing Jimenez too will be massive for them. I think we have a great chance in this with everyone fully rested.
  22. Innocent until proven guilty... Unless you're proven innocent in which case you're guilty.
  23. Bright Osayi-Samuel out of contract next summer too. Could do alot worse when looking at picking up at young RW.
