  1. To be fair I remember Louis van Gaal doing this against Ireland in 2001 in a WC qualifier. Ended up with Kluivert, van Nistelrooy, van Hooijdonk, and Hassebaink all on the pitch together. They were even all on before Ireland got the goal to make it 1-0.
  2. Quite true, but maybe they should have just wrote illness. Otherwise you get the "pah, sore throat, I once played two matches back to back, went to pub after and had 13 pints, lifted a car out of the way that had double parked, blocking my mate's car, with a sore throat" brigade.
  3. For the accounting heads/FFP experts, was there (in your opinion) more money to spend or has our spending since promotion curbed our spending in this window? We've been among the biggest spenders since we came back up and this coupled with our inability to move on squad players for significant fees has got me wondering if this had an effect on our spending. Or are we just not spending any more until Gerrard is gone?
  4. The football performances will affect the revenues eventually. Increasing our non-footballing revenues from where they were when they took over was actually quite simple for anyone with half a business brain, as we were one of the worst clubs at exploiting such opportunities. That will stagnate soon and the football performances will need to improve to help the revenues to grow further.
  5. I'd be sceptical about Farage's football nous if I'm honest.
  6. Legendary photoshopping skills there.
  7. In fairness Whelan taking that penalty was pretty integral to our run of results that season.
  8. Went to bed last night expecting him to be gone when I woke up
  9. I assumed he was being facetious as he has made more.
  10. Best of luck Jan, with defending the 5 v 3 counter attacks following Bailey losing the ball after being outnumbered, while 4 of our players players stand within 5 yards of Coutinho on the other side of the pitch.
  11. Not too many takers for an aging midfielder with 16 screws in his hip. I’ve decided that he’s still a footballer, because he has proved that he definitely is not a football coach/manager.
  12. Of course he is. This club has turned into a circus in the last 12 months or so.
  13. Had we brought in Rodgers or Postecoglou (feel free to add a competent manager from another club for balance - they just spring to mind immediately) - a manager/head coach (call them the cleaning lady for all I care) with a functional system/plan to get the team playing - directly from the SPL, then all would see the difference between a good coach and Steven Gerrard.
  14. Can’t wait to see what tricks he’s got up his sleeve to stop Haaland setting even more records at the weekend.
  15. Peak Coutinho is without a doubt better. I think the speed at which the game is played now means that Coutinho is very much a luxury player and struggles with the physicality (not big and strong, just crazily fit and fast players) of the modern game. I thought that he might be able to get up to speed with time but he looks to be struggling a lot. Bailey on the other hand has wicked pace which allows him to cope with the demands of the modern game more easily than Coutinho does. Having said this, I think that Coutinho could work in a system like a 4-2-3-1. This system really highlights his limitations.
  16. He understands how playing in midfield works. Something Gerrard never understood as a player and still can’t get his head around. Therefore, he thinks Luiz is some kind of witch.
  17. Not sure if you noticed but, football fans tend to be a fickle bunch.
  18. Lange is not a scout. He is the Sporting Director.
  19. 2 losses this week should see him on his way IMO. They shouldn't be considered free hits. They are games that we need a result from.
