    Story might be true but the price clearly isn’t. He’s a Brentford player so the fee is £20m.

    So from what I’ve gathered from here, Twitter and Southampton and Fulham forums today is that he’s a thick, articulate, pacy Championship level full back with Premier League experience, who runs in slow motion, is good going forwards but only when playing in a flat back four, not as a wing back, can’t defend but is good in the air, poor positionally but reads the game well, and an excellent crosser who offers no width. It’s reassuring to know what we’re getting for our £11 million / £14 million / £16 million /£17 million outlay.

    The bile and vitriol towards Villa on their OTIB forum is quite staggering - they see us as arrogant, self-entitled w*nkers. Whilst you do get a fair few idiots on Twitter, I’d say that in general the opposite was the case. As is the Brummie way, we’re a glass half empty, self deprecating hard on ourselves sort of bunch. Shame really, I’ve never had anything against Bristol City, even if Lee Johnson himself is a grade A handjob. Must be something to do with the initials BCFC.

    Are jazz mags hidden in hedges something that’s extinct now, similarly to white dog poo? I guess in this age of cyber scud, the answer must be yes. I remember finding the most magnificent stash in Bromwich Wood in Bartley Green as a youngster. I do miss those days.
