  1. Instead of spending vast sums on championship level players it is time he spends a vast sum on a top manager instead. Sell it as a massive challenge to someone like Bielsa and pay him whatever he wants.
  2. Villa were very lucky to pick up so many points in his early games, the performances were still very poor for the most part.
  3. Bottom of the form table from last 6 games and they were not a difficult set of games too. A proper replacement needs to be scouted and in place by March or April to try finish off the season with some bit of momentum. The length of time dross has been served up at this stage indicates that he isn't going to be able to get the best out of these players.
  4. Tony and Steve Round may as well use the next few weeks sourcing the next Jaap Stam or similar, let Bruce have a little bit more time but he has no future here. He is a failure already. RDM wasn't even as bad, just needed someone to tell him that a 4-1-5 formation wasn't a good idea when defending a lead.
  5. Only going to get closer to trouble if performances continue like this. Will still be safe but not an impossibility as the team have been amongst the bottom 3 in performance levels for the past 2 months.
  6. He has developed physically a good bit in the last year too which is good to see. If he could add a bit more explosiveness to his game he could have potential to reach maybe a Zaha level winger. He should play most games for the rest of the season with Thor/Grealish being used as a squad rotation options. Bruce will surely have to start playing 2 up top with Hogan signing, that should benefit the wide players.
  7. I'd say Olsson replacing him at Swansea has played a good part in their upturn in form.
  8. Must have been when they were at Wigan then but he did say that was the instructions from Bruce. It was the Monday after John Terry had a nightmare in the FA cup 3rd round and they were talking about losing pace.
  9. Kevin Kilbane was on the radio a couple of weeks ago about when his legs had gone as a player. He said they went when he was at Hull but never really realised it under Bruce who had instructed him not to go past the half way line, similar to Trapppatoni he is a dinosaur of a manager. That said the Hull squad that went up last season had a huge amount of quality and he assembled that and was able to have them playing winning football, how he manages to get Villa playing winning football is going to be hard to envisage.
  10. Has looked like a left footed Gary Gardner tonight, incredible what this club can do to players. Westwood will be playing premier league football for a good team next week with Defour injured, will be interesting to see how he gets on.
  11. He made some brilliant investments when he was a player, is ridiculously wealthy now so can gamble to his hearts content.
  12. Did all the people saying he was the worst, most disgraceful coward they ever seen play for Villa miss out on seeing the likes of Lescott and Richards arseing around behind him last season.
  13. They have seen plenty of examples of Dyche turning absolute rubbish into competent premier league footballers.
  14. He will do well there eventually when Dyche rebuilds his confidence but has been finished here for a long time. In his first season I though he was going to be excellent.
  15. I hope there is a sell on clause as he still has potential of hittng a bit of good form and moving on somewhere else for a big fee.
  16. Hopefully he is on a modest enough salary. Should be ok for the championship.
  17. Allardyce has always liked attacking left backs and generally got the best out of them, young Cresswell, Warnock, Jose Enrique and Ricardo Gardner all arguably played their best football under him. PVA despite being awful defensively was excellent for Sunderland towards the end of last season too and played a major role in them staying up. Palace being desperate for a left back is probably part of the reason the price is high too though.
  18. You think with all the money they have they would have been able to hire someone capable of giving the anti doping drug testers the correct information about their whereabouts for testing. 3 times they failed to do so.
  19. Dean Marney is out long term and there was rumours in the past about them wanting Westwood. Would be a good move for all parties but mostly Villa. Barnes would be a good workhorse to have behind Kodjia. Westwood would benefit from a fresh start and Dyche has a good record of improving players (Stephen Ward has turned solid, Lowton doesn't get embarrassed defensively, Joey Barton is civilised there etc.)
  20. Assuming the injury he got didn't destroy him. Barrow although he has had some good days for Swansea doesn't appeal to me as it is a bad sign that in the middle of a relegation battle they are letting him go while still starting Routledge. Another striker isn't urgent for me as we will probably be playing 5 in midfield and Ayew can be moved back up front as backup to Kodjia. Gabby will do in an emergency, the midfielders can do the scoring in that scenario.
  21. I was shocked when I learned he was on propecia, absolute insanity for a professional athlete. He could have been a better player if he looked after himself better, he was on the same level as Ronaldo in their early years although completely different players.
  22. Up until this season Christian Eriksen has only been on £30k a week, examples like that is the reason Spurs are where they are and Villa are here.
  23. Having nothing to play for between now and the rest of the season should allow him to develop and assuming Hourihane and Bree are signed the team will be playing a lot better too.
