I agree with you but we have to trust that those at the club know better than we do..... There is no place for sentimentality at this level. He'll be an icon of the club for what he did but that doesn't mean he's owed a few games to see how he goes .... Doesn't work like that sadly.

Well at least the squad will be settled, and nearly everyone to full fitness. I've been away from VT for a few days, is there much talk of Jack leaving? or better yet any news of him signing an improved 5 year contract? I am a little concerned about the lack of new faces but I guess I shouldn't be, what with the quick turnaround, the extended transfer window and the fact we are a bit of hard sell at the moment.

I imagine our wage will go up dramatically this season, if we keep Jack he will command close to if not double his wages (assuming he is on 50k-60k now), Luiz deserves a better contract, plus any new players we bring in. Anyone going will be on fairly low wages I imagine and anyone coming in will be on more (I imagine) plus I think we have to buy more than we sell as our squad wasn't big enough last season.

I never claimed to be going on facts, I openly admit my opinion is based on what little we know so far. I have no problem with what you are suggesting, but if anything it backs my argument that we should be looking elsewhere already and not waiting on some maybe. Aston Villa is no woman's backup date to the prom.
