we seem to have gone from spunking 20mil on one player and paying 80k in wages to not being able to afford to spend over 2mil on a player and pay more than used HMV vouchers for wages. why no in between?

quite likely, but we don't know that for sure or do we???? is anyone ITK on what his relationship with Lambert is like? we, me included all seem to jump to conclusions that Ireland is an overpaid charlie big potatoes who does very little on the pitch, and yet he seemed pretty consistent last season and got player of the year (because everyone else was so awful?). Surely he would have been one of the first players moved on in Jan if Lambert really doesn't rate him??

why was he dropped yesterday or always on the bench? is he shit in training? if Lambert hates him then he should have shipped him on loan or sold him, we've got rid of Warnock and Hutton (hopefully)...... does Lambert have to freeze someone else out of the picture so is turning back to make asses of Ireland and Bent. good one

Lichaj can actually defend, we don't need him to get fwd. Bennett to me still looks better as a midfielder as he can't defend. Clark has to learn to not get so close to attackers, he is easily outmuscled and needs to bulk up, to me he just doesn't act or play like a centre back at all.

I thought it was impossible t fully judge him on that cameo - although i thought he looked fine, he was on at a time we were desperate to get the ball back and failing miserably, so making your debut when the rest of your team are headless chickens is impossible. He made 2 successful interceptions out of about 4. We cannot go on with 4 attackers in the side - we need a 5 man midfield to protect the defence, bring Weimann on as an impact sub.

certainly thing we needed a new defender more than a winger. I realise Lerner is no miser and the spending had to stop but ultimately the lack of defensive strengthening in this window will send us down!

I wish that was the case, in a way i thought the fact we didn't concede from set pieces in the Newcastle game meant we had turned the corner............ but then today happened. Every game i think we have the players in attack to win it but then we concede more or as many as we score. I can't help but feel though that having four forwards is costing us. Gabby and Zog worked hard today at times but they don't really track and defend that well, Weimann was utterly ineffective, you would have bet your house on him scoring that chance. We need a five man midfield - and if Delph comes back: ----------Benteke---------- Gabby -- Westwood --Delph -- Sylla -- Zog Baker -- Vlaar -- Clark -- Lowton Guzan use Andy as an impact player Really angry by the way Lambert is treating Ireland also, if he's crap sell or loan him don't humiliate him further and knock more off his transfer value!

week in week out this utter bollocks, we seem to be pretty decent in attack and from midfield to defence we are utterly hopeless. why couldn't we have taken the game to Everton like we did the 2nd half vs Newcastle?? Absolutely pathetic, i'm only surprised we didn't lose. I am not a Bannan fan but even he would have had more time on the ball than KEA and Westwood did. Vlaar **** up and Clark doesn't know how to defend one on ones - he honestly thinks by trying to mount the player he will stop them scoring. Reading winning and Saints getting points, suddenly the table reflects exactly where we should be in it. Only positive was Benteke and the fact Sylla looked decent. Everton just looked so much more confident than us, and if they'd targeted Bennett more than would have creamed us.

Benteke has to be one of the best strikers i have seen at Villa in decades.

some of those figures are wrong or at the high end of estimations - for example Habib Beye was 2.5 mil and Sidwell wasn't released for nothing. But i agree our transfer dealings have been a car crash and Randy has every right to demand an end to it.

so he's a 22 year old midfielder from league 2 in France. that is fooking random, not saying it can't be a good signing but it's another major gamble - but then again KEA didn't seem much of a gamble and he turned out (so far) to be quite poor, so who knows.

Bent did nothing wrong, he worked hard and had to come deep to get the ball as there was no width and no service. If he had been on the pitch alongside Gabby and Weimann then maybe he wouldn't have looked so inept. It's weird though even though we did better in the second half because we have no central midfield presence the only option Lambert has is to flood the pitch with attackers, his determination to play Bannan over Ireland is utterly baffling. Benteke - Weimann Gabby -- Westwood -- Ireland -- Zog Baker - Clark -- Vlaar -- Lowton Guzan Is the best team we have and it's so obvious i screams PLAY ME and yet...........

I didn't think Bent did much wrong to be honest, he worked hard and had to come deep to get the ball. It was the formation and set up that was the issue not Bent. Bannan was much better in the second half but utterly awful in the first, in the only Zog played 90mins

first half woeful second half we played really well and deserved to get a point, but we need to play for 90 mins or else we are down. At least we didn't concede from a corner!!!!
