  1. i reckon Lamberk will play KEA if fit.
  2. he's not as bad as some people make out, but his set pieces are utterly woeful, 1 decent cross in 20 is not acceptable.
  3. will he be fit for Reading? I really hope he is, i know he hasn't yet turned out the player we hoped he would be but he's still better than the alternatives. I still think we have a bit more defensive steel when Lichaj plays - ok so he doesn't offer much in the way of passing but he can tackle.
  4. It's a lot to ask a fringe player who has done very little to justify a starting role in defence to come in a position they have barely played and expect them to be the finished article. I do think he has the attributes to be a good player but by the time he has the experience needed to be a first choice centre back we may well be in another league.
  5. positives are we made City and Arsenal look fairly mediocre - neither team really dominated us. negatives are defensive mistakes cost us again and in both matches we lacked composure in the final third, Holman looked ok when he came on. does the Delph booking mean Lambert will play Sylla - nope he'll play KEA just you watch.
  6. I think it's hard to call on Vlaar and Baker yet and even Bennett. But agreed our front line is half decent but our midfield and defence are why we are in danger of going down. We resemble a newly promoted team who never quite strengthened properly. On paper we should be better than Reading and Southampton, but neither seems as defensively naive as us. QPR have many good players too many in fact but seem clueless how to turn that to their advantage. Wigan play nice football but haven't really changed much of the last few years, they are woefully inconsistent but they have had stability for longer giving them a major edge over us. I feel our team as a whole is starting to settle and improve, but until we grind out some tough results like against West Ham, then it's impossible to say if a corner can be turned. We need a nil nil draw to prove our defence is capable of one.
  7. is that the dressing room at the strip club? *bows*
  8. he could score from corners as well maybe? I think if he was a fit a short term contract would do no harm. Can't be any worse than Didier Agathe!
  9. i wonder what the ratio to free kicks and corners needlessly conceded to goals will be for this one? Can we not do our fouls and hospital tackles further up the pitch?
  10. The rumour is still out there http://www.footballfriendsonline.com/blogs/2013/3/3/could-john-carew-return-to-save-villas-season-video.html? and it's getting sillier
  11. I think Lambert shares the opinion that I have - 'We dont want to turn back'. i would turn back to finishing 6th though
  12. I agree it's a vicious circle - if Bent plays or comes on as a sub and doesn't score a lot of fans going crazy with rage and hate and yet he needs to play to get confidence. Lambert has chronically mismanaged him and there is no turning back.
  13. Praised mambo what is you find so disagreeable about my post? Yes I agree dropping Weimann seems silly as he scores goals, but I just don't think the formation/way we play offers our defence the protection it needs, there is no obvious answer but there has to be one.
  14. it pains me to say it but i can't even see the point in watching this one, the amount of set pieces and chances we give teams will mean we are murdered as Man City are pretty clinical.
  15. I though both KEA and Holman were meant to be able chase down players and give our defence some protection, Holman seems to have lost it and KEA couldn't get near his reflection let alone another player anymore.
  16. well judging by the way Lowton bombs fwd at the moment and the better defensive performance of Bennett maybe we should go with: Guzan Vlaar - Baker - Clark Lowton - Delph - Westwood - Bennett Zog - Gabby Benteke Lord knows if that would work, but I def think we need one less attacking player - I would bring on Weimann and go three up top if Zog is having a poor game. I would prefer to just play Sylla (if fit) or Kea instead of Weimann though.
  17. Is it driving anyone else nuts the fact we offer our defence so little protection - and concede some many set pieces because we play such a dumb formation? Does any other team play 4 strikers? Ok Nzogbia may not be an out and out striker but he certainly is an attacker. Playing fwds as midfielders is no excuse. Weimann may have scored but he lost the ball in some really stupid areas, neither him Zog or Gabby can track back effectively, all we did vs Arsenal was break at pace lose the ball really easily at the last moment and then watch as our defence was routed. For god's sake we signed Sylla why aren't we playing him?
  18. and yet Lambert still refused to sub him.
  19. Couldn't believe the marking out wide, especially on the right (our left). Seemed like they always had a player in space with no one around. we didn't mark closely at all, we gave them fair too much room in the final third. Bennett actually played ok in the end but losing Vlaar hurt us. Benteke's was poor beyond belief, no idea why Lambert didn't take him off.
  20. goal aside, we were terrible in the second half. not getting turned over is s hollow bonus
  21. erm er........ who else can i say is shit to get them to score? Zog has been shit...............
  22. To be honest Lichaj\Bennett isn't a game changer for me. at least Lichaj can tackle
