  1. Guzan 7: Couldn't do much about the goals and kept us in it Lowton 7: Solid, doesn't do much wrong Herd 4: Poor in the first half, improved in the second but still shouldn't be playing as a defender Clark 5: Better in the second but dreadful first half Stevens 6: Looked pretty decent Bennett 4: No idea where he was playing or what he was doing Westwood 6: Did ok, nasty injury by that dirty **** Michu - hope he's ok Delph 5: Thought he did ok in the second half Albrighton 5: We look better when he is an outlet but he can't cross or even get in good positions. Weiman 8: Great finish and a constant threat Benteke 7: Starting to look his old self and great penalty Subs; Holmann 4, Bowery, Bannan both too late to rate Lambert 5: Whatever he said in the changing room at the break made a difference, but i still think his tactics and team choices are all wrong.
  2. Herd can't defend for tofffee, every chance they have had clean through has been down to him.
  3. every time they go fwd they think they WILL score, absolute joke
  4. wonder what they say in the huddle "work really hard lads and we''ll only lose by three."
  5. doesn't sound like a man not intending to buy
  6. injuries aside Mellberg, Laursen, Bouma, Delaney, Barry and Yorke have been bargains. if he stays fit Vlaar could be an bargain buy.
  7. I think Cisse cost 9m, and though a decent player he's not been prolific. Although Newcastle have unearthed plenty of other gems. wasn't there another attacking player from the French league that we almost signed but the selling club pulled the deal at the last minute and the player was furious, couldn't we go back in for him?
  8. it was the mistake MON made, buying English players who thought they were far better than they actually were, for ridiculous transfer fees, wages and agent costs. Look at what he spent on the likes of NRC and Warnock! NRC really believed and probably still believes he should be starting for England. With Man City and Chelsea and others happy to pay stupidly inflated prices for English players, that market has died for any teams outside the the top 4. The same problem is the reason why our England team is so average, the players all think they are the dogs bollocks because they were bought for millions and get paid millions, when in reality they are nothing special at all.
  9. yes but for agents and selling clubs the last minute panic works in their favour which is why the Jan window is so **** stupid as people take unfair advantage of the desperation.
  10. that would mean too many backwards passes and bad tackles
  11. 10mil? if that is the case, then priority has to be an experienced centre back and a big ugly midfielder. We need more players but i imagine any other others will be lower league youngsters.
  12. in the same way it is difficult to blood Bowery, it is hard to carry Baker, Bennett, Stevens and Westwood - and that is not to say that all three haven't looked really promising and done well, but they can't play week in week out without mistakes and a steep learning curve. KEA also hasn't adapted. People call Bannan, Clark, Herd, Lichaj, Weiman, Delph inexperienced kids, but they are not, they have been involved in the first team for over three seasons now and consistently shown indifferent levels of form. I'm not saying they haven't deserved the chance Lambert has given them, but he has found out the same thing McCleish did, playing more than three of these players at a time is suicidal. Remember when we had the likes of Hogg, Delf and Moore in the team? They also couldn't do a job consistently. In order to excel with youth we need to have an experienced foundation to the team. Which is why we need at least two more defenders and two midfielders just to get us in some sort of shape.
  13. I don't think anyone hates Bowery, it's more that we don't have the luxury of buying players that aren't good enough/experienced enough to play in the first team straight away and improve us. Bowery right now is a passenger, he may well be good enough for prem football but i doubt Lambert will start him and right now we can't afford to carry anyone. I hope he will be a soon be good player, but soon isn't now.
  14. i don't agree that Bent needs footballing royalty round him to succeed as lets face it that's never happened at any other team he's played for.
  15. Samba is being payed a fortune in Russia. Out of the relegated clubs: Wolves: Doyle, Hunt, O'Hara, Ward Bolton: Mark Davies, Wheater, Eagles, M Petrov. Blackburn: Scott Dann, Olsson (both), Givet. Blackpool: Matt Phillips (presume Ince is going to Liverpool)
  16. it has been our policy in the past to pick over the carcasses of relegated teams, can't see why we should deviate from a policy that has brought so much success previously.
  17. It's weird that some of you still have Delph, KEA, Lichaj, Holman, Bannan and Herd in your teams when they've been beyond awful. Not saying others have been much better.
