not sure when we were last were able to call ourselves a big club, every good season in my lifetime has usually followed two or three bad. The big stadium big following, big club argument feels pretty hollow when we can't even get much over 30k in our 42K capacity stadium (or thereabouts). To me it's more about our huge potential if our club were correctly managed and run - we could be a massive club because we have the right fan base and infrastructure, but we seem to incapable of finding the balance, right now it feels like virtually everything that was good about our playing squad has been stripped away. It feels like we sold our soul to the devil to attain our three top six finishes under MON, and now the devil has come to collect.

We have really missed the outlet Gabby gives us, he is really difficult to get off the ball and he runs forward, something not many of our players do. Our possesion must go up by 10% when he plays.

When Lambert came in he looked at Hutton, Warnock, Delf and Collins and decided they weren't good enough. Now I can appreciate he managed to sell Collins but leaving the others to either rot then/or go on loan felt utterly pointless, what are/were Forest, Blackpool and Bolton paying towards each player, 1k? of the 40/50K a week? I'm not saying I rate these players massively highly but if we can't sell them bring them back in and give them another stab, we sure as hell could use them now. The idea Makoun didn't turn up so we were forced to loan him is equally barmy. he seems to blow hot and cold on Ireland, Bannan and KEA also

he's done well, but we need perspective if Ireland played every week the same sort of level of Westwood then people would be moaning. Our expectations of Westwood are low therefore we are surprised when he is pretty tidy and works hard. If we had paid loads for him including wages people would soon be saying 'not good enough.' For the record I like him a lot, but he needs more support around him.

he looked ok today, sometimes he drives forward or passes forward and you think 'go on son' but he doesn't seem to have the confidence on the ball he needs to succeed. I have to see even if we are shit in midfield and defence Lambert seems to have uncovered something of great potential in Weimann and Benteke. Herd is awful though and playing him in defence has to stop, surely Lichaj is better and a defender? We keep banging on about how great our youth teams are or should have ended up being, yet do we not have a defender in the reserve/u21 team who could come in? Yep i know we need more kids in the side like we need fat cheer leaders but...... **** anything is better than Herd there!
