been so damn long hasn't it. I think we just have to have a change in luck. Just look at Southampton today - when do City concede a comedy own goal and a goal keeping **** up? When do teams do that against us? In our post match threads this season we get pissed at the fact players don't tackle or close down enough, but in recent games we've been doing that and conceding shad loads of free kicks and corners because our players rush in, miss the tackle and left loads of space open, or concede a free kick or corner, and then the defence gets pressure piled on and so on so on. I am not saying we haven't deserved to lose the games we have played dobbins in - which is a lot. But I do get so angry when I see the ref giving absolutely **** all our way and every tackle our players make just sends the ball straight back to the opposition, usually in even more dangerous areas.

I guess the problem is if we get relegated some of the players we consider not good enough might actually do a job in the Championship. But the list for me is: 1) Makoun 2) Hutton (gone completely) 3) Given (we are paying him too much to sit on the bench) 4) Ireland (see above) 5) Bent (see above) if we stay up then there are too many average players to list that we could ship out. if we get relegated then the carcass will get picked clean anyway.

Mellberg's beard was more of a legend than he was, as without it he wasn't that good a defender!! Laursen would have been a legend had he not spent most of his career at Villa injured, but when he was fit - what a player! The trouble is these days no player stays at a club long enough to become a legend, well unless they are in the top 4 as there is no loyalty above money these days. Still Gabby could become a Villa legend.

it feels like the club is being run like the country is, i.e. being brought to it's knees by sweeping cuts that are happening too fast and too deep. We have to put the most ugly and physical side out we can otherwise we will get torn to pieces. There is a late fitness test on Westwood but regardless of that I would still drop Westwood - as i just think he needs a break. I really want KEA to get another chance i know he wasn't great in the last game but if there is any chance he can capture his early season form then he needs to start. Lichaj gives us a much better physical presence on the left, i think we defend better when he plays - although in truth I can't see Lambert resting Bennett or Westwood if fit. quite likely, but we don't know that for sure or do we???? is anyone ITK on what his relationship with Lambert is like? we, me included all seem to jump to conclusions that Ireland is an overpaid charlie big potatoes who does very little on the pitch, and yet he seemed pretty consistent last season and got player of the year (because everyone else was so awful?). Surely he would have been one of the first players moved on in Jan if Lambert really doesn't rate him??

why was he dropped yesterday or always on the bench? is he shit in training? if Lambert hates him then he should have shipped him on loan or sold him, we've got rid of Warnock and Hutton (hopefully)...... does Lambert have to freeze someone else out of the picture so is turning back to make asses of Ireland and Bent. good one

Lichaj can actually defend, we don't need him to get fwd. Bennett to me still looks better as a midfielder as he can't defend. Clark has to learn to not get so close to attackers, he is easily outmuscled and needs to bulk up, to me he just doesn't act or play like a centre back at all.

I thought it was impossible t fully judge him on that cameo - although i thought he looked fine, he was on at a time we were desperate to get the ball back and failing miserably, so making your debut when the rest of your team are headless chickens is impossible. He made 2 successful interceptions out of about 4. We cannot go on with 4 attackers in the side - we need a 5 man midfield to protect the defence, bring Weimann on as an impact sub.

certainly thing we needed a new defender more than a winger. I realise Lerner is no miser and the spending had to stop but ultimately the lack of defensive strengthening in this window will send us down!

I wish that was the case, in a way i thought the fact we didn't concede from set pieces in the Newcastle game meant we had turned the corner............ but then today happened. Every game i think we have the players in attack to win it but then we concede more or as many as we score. I can't help but feel though that having four forwards is costing us. Gabby and Zog worked hard today at times but they don't really track and defend that well, Weimann was utterly ineffective, you would have bet your house on him scoring that chance. We need a five man midfield - and if Delph comes back: ----------Benteke---------- Gabby -- Westwood --Delph -- Sylla -- Zog Baker -- Vlaar -- Clark -- Lowton Guzan use Andy as an impact player Really angry by the way Lambert is treating Ireland also, if he's crap sell or loan him don't humiliate him further and knock more off his transfer value!

week in week out this utter bollocks, we seem to be pretty decent in attack and from midfield to defence we are utterly hopeless. why couldn't we have taken the game to Everton like we did the 2nd half vs Newcastle?? I realise Everton are a good team and miles better than us but that doesn't hold any water when you get **** defensively every week no matter what team you play!

Absolutely pathetic, i'm only surprised we didn't lose. I am not a Bannan fan but even he would have had more time on the ball than KEA and Westwood did. Vlaar **** up and Clark doesn't know how to defend one on ones - he honestly thinks by trying to mount the player he will stop them scoring. Reading winning and Saints getting points, suddenly the table reflects exactly where we should be in it. Only positive was Benteke and the fact Sylla looked decent. Everton just looked so much more confident than us, and if they'd targeted Bennett more than would have creamed us.

Benteke has to be one of the best strikers i have seen at Villa in decades.

is Ireland injured? If not then don't get how Lambert is treating him, if he doesn't like him the ship him out on loan or sell - the bottom line is he has been no worse than any other midfielder this season!

some of those figures are wrong or at the high end of estimations - for example Habib Beye was 2.5 mil and Sidwell wasn't released for nothing. But i agree our transfer dealings have been a car crash and Randy has every right to demand an end to it.
