  1. Unconfirmed reports he has a 15 million pound release clause. We gotta be all over that. And PSV in also. How ( and im not been arrogant ) can they be a more attractive option than someone like us with where we play versus them. And also given how long he’s played in Spain im saying this is Emery’s work too. Again.
  2. Wrexham took almost 5,000 fans to Coventry. That’s seriously impressive. They’ve been very prudently run by Reynolds and the bloke from it’s always sunny in philly but getting out of the vanarama is bloody hard. They finished 2nd last year. Went out in the playoffs. 2nd again now. Best to just put the foot down now, maybe over spend for a few in jan ( they have the money ) and win the league.
  3. Meh, we beat them at time’s when they had Bruce and Souness as managers. Swings and roundabouts. Newcastle were miles better than us that day. Martinez would still of had all those chances they created in front of him. They lost a cup game. Going great in the league. The facts - which don’t really care about your like / dislike of them personally.
  4. I think the pile in here has been harsh. They beat the brakes off us earlier in the season. Regardless of their style of football, they are having a great season.
  5. When i was growing up in the 90s i felt there was way more non league teams in the 3rd round than the last few years. In fact im certain of it. I think they should bring something in for the 1st and 2nd rounds that all league 1 and 2 teams play away if they draw a non league team. They do something similar in the French cup. They’ve certainly not lost the magic of it. Not at all uncommon over there to see a 2nd or 3rd tier team go far in the competition. Last 8 of this will be all PL. Boring.
  6. No issue with Moreno coming in but it’s this mish mash “ 1 pick one, you pick one “ policy we’ve operated for years now. Moreno clearly would be an Emery signing. Then we’d get a Samatta type from some club in Belgium. Crazy shite. I get that a sporting director ( is that what Lange is ) is the way of modern football because a manager’s get bounced about quickly now if it’s not working. Give the whole thing to Emery or don’t give it to him at all.
  7. I like it. The correct mix of change and first teamers.
  8. Hope we don’t **** about here. Would love a run in this cup. We’ve no Europe and unlikely we’ll get dragged into a relegation scrap.
  9. Rare footage of McGrath and the boys here. Loved this team. Don’t think these media guys would survive today though. What kinda lunatic asks an alcoholic what’s your favourite drink.
  10. I’m not been funny but Jack completely slipped my mind. Zero bitterness, fantastic player but when i mentioned the 5 i picked they were players i grew up watching when we used to finish top 6, ( 2nd 92/93 ) and have great runs in the UEFA cup. Barry and that Villa team in ‘08, Ajax at VP in the Europa league. On hindsight, Jack for Angel. Jack’s didn’t play in great Villa teams either. Highest was 11th.
  11. Doesn’t have to be balanced. Can be 5 defenders, 5 strikers if you want. Following Villa since 92/93 so I’ll start from then. For me : McGrath Barry Yorke Mellberg Angel
  12. Tend to agree. 30 isn’t old but he’s played at a top level for so long.
  13. Hearn finding out what it’s like to be on the other side of the street. When he was a young upstart coming through i remember he knicked Barker and Brook off Mick Hennessy and Frank Warren respectively. Sky put their lot behind him. Left Sky last year for DAZN ( a venture that hasn’t progressed at the speed he had hoped. ) and now he’s in a legal dispute with Okolie after he said he’s leaving him after Boxxer and Sky made him a monster offer Hearn couldn’t match. Swings and roundabouts
  14. I didn’t see the match and was kinda following on here. From the comments here and on Twitter i thought it was a miss of ronnie rosenthal proportions. Had a bit to do is right.
  15. Dissapointed about the drop off from the Spurs performance but won’t be getting fatalistic about it. 10 from 15 points . We’d of all took that.
  16. As much as Young deserved to stay instead of Cash, he doesn’t have the legs for RW. A good call. Hope it works.
  17. Doesn’t look like a team weighed down by the pressure of been favourite - at all. In that case , did Spurs lose to us for that reason ? Wolves have been excellent. We’ve been off it.
  18. The experiment on the right hasn’t worked. Turns out it wasn’t an opportunity for Cash to discover a sense of adventure going forward, just doesn’t have any. Had ample crossing opportunities and he’d rather turn around and pass it back than go forward or cross.
  19. Exactly. People forget that Cash made his bones as a RW at Forest.
  20. Something, obviously. He’s either the most persecuted footballer to ever player at our or he has had incredibly bad luck. I’d wager to say it’s neither. I just don’t think he’s good enough. Others have come in after him and nailed down spots.
  21. I wouldn’t think so . That change would of happened during the Spurs game when Cash came on it that was the case. Emery might of had a look and doesn’t fancy Cash as a RB.
  22. Wouldn’t surprise me. Cash needs to find that sense of adventure he had in his game when he was Forest and predominately a RW for most his time there.
  23. The old me would say in response to that “ but yeah this is Villa “ I’m now confident our players are well drilled and will carry out a well executed plan for Wolves, laid out by an elite manager. That happens - result takes care of itself. Bruce was terrible . Smith ( give the ball to Grealish ) Gerrard - awful. Now, every players looks like they are playing better and a real sense of team ethos.

    Unai Emery

They were soft as **** though Arsenal as a club then. Seen a guy on here say before when Emery was appointed for us, that Wenger had told his coaches that during training the players must not be shouted at. Imagine that ! Looks like our lads have been like sponges so far with Emery.
