  1. How ? We play one upfront. He’s now 3rd choice. He can’t play out wide. He’s on an astronomical wage. If we can sell on a permanent, get a decent fee and off the wage bill - i see no downside.
  2. Totally agree. We aren’t in the business of “ getting west ham out of a hole “ It’s strictly business. If it’s structured in such a way that means it’s loan with us still paying a large chunk of his wages - id say no and Danny would have to understand and be grown up to realise if it did go tits up because of a deal structured like that then it’s not our fault, it’s West Ham’s.
  3. Sometimes when Villa do these signings where the media don’t get a sniff, as was the case with Ings, fans are like “ Villa are genius here, never left it out and kept would be bidders out “ Could also easily translate as “ We’ve panicked here, we don’t know what we are doing and we’ve rushed this through “ I’d say the reality is somewhere in the middle. I never get too enamoured like some do on here about how secretive we do business at times. It’s means nothing. When the dust settles. - are they any good is the only relevant question .
  4. I don’t think the Brighton game diluted Emery’s opinion of Ings. He knows he can’t really press and his game plan is such that it has to work from the front for all the pieces to fall line. We won’t always create goals like when Luiz dispossessed McAllister and it fell to Ings. He wants us to create chances from our own game plan. He’s probably thinking the 2nd Brighton goal in particular are the exception, not the rule.
  5. McGrath is pretty reputable. He doesn’t write for a rag. I’m sure he wouldn’t have editorial approval to publish any old drivel. They are a top scribe. Everyone got the Henry thing wrong. Sky more than most, I’ll agree, but everyone got that wrong.
  6. What’s bollocks ? Sky sports news are reporting “ West Ham in advanced talks to sign Danny Ings “ I mean they aren’t great but they aren’t **** football insider shite. Or are Villa now selling players Emery wants to keep ? Really ???
  7. Ask Emery mate - i dunno He’s the one selling him.
  8. Ok. What we know - he isn’t first choice here and with the arrival of Duran is further down the pecking order. He wants ( as presumably ever professional footballer does ) to play football. West Ham would not of tabled a bid if they didn’t get feedback from the player that he wanted to move. Advanced talks suggests Villa have accepted a bid. Can’t talk to our player without doing that - it’s illegal.
  9. Are we doing this thing where we pretend Danny has had a career here like Yorke ? Did a solid job for us. By no manner of means outstanding. A good pro and from ive heard a top bloke in general but he won’t be going down in Villa folklore.
  10. Won’t be anything close to 20 million. I think we can all agree we paid too much for him. “ Most “ strikers coming up on 30 ( unless they are elite and scoring for fun ) will depreciate in value. Always been the way.
  11. You’ve “ me “ and “ I want “ vibes pouring off you. He’s not playing here. He’s now 3rd choice striker. He’s doing what he feels is best for him and we get paid ( won’t be anywhere near what we paid for him but hey ho ) He’s been a good pro. Probably told as far back as Dubai he wasn’t in Unai’s plans and that he’d get a move away when we got someone else in the door. We have so he can leave. I wish him all the best.
  12. I do believe we have to play better though. I’d be very disappointed if Villa delivered another performance as sloppy as last Friday night.
  13. The thing about Villa in recent years, we are very reactionary in our approach. We seem to conform to the pre game narrative ( this game for example ) that “ Southampton are in trouble. They are at home. Will want it more than us “ We’ve tended to run with said narrative in games like this in the past before a whistle is blown, and ultimately lose. But those loses also come when you aren’t too sure of yourself, know the plan or are coached enough in how to carry it out. I think Villa will be more proactive going forward now that we have a top coach. Players are more confident for a game when they’ve trained well and the training has been opponent specific. We’ve zero control over how much Southampton will be up for it, want it etc. We need to look after our own performance.

    Jhon Durán

It’s definitely the signing someone like Porto would make and then sell for 40 -50 million in 2-3 years.
  15. Well i mean he fouled the ball. His intent is neither here nor there. Harsh but….
  16. They should of been relegated mid 90s on the last day, can’t remember the season. Shed for a stadium and yeah a shitty fanbase
  17. Meh, like our fans at Wycombe a few years ago when they seen the lads laughing on the bench and they spoke to Richards. He’s making his point but he’s also in awe of the fact he’s got to speak to Mina hence the hand shaking like they are best buds at the end. If you were genuinely pissed you wouldn’t climb down like that and offer your hand out.
  18. Didn’t care for that sky thing with the cameras following Bournemouth and Brentford around pre game, dressing rooms, interviewing players at HT, player cams during the warm up. Very NFL. No thanks.
  19. Ah **** em. They’re Tranmere in white.
  20. He should be judged harshly too i think. The guy has got a leg up since day one. Gets Tomori and Mount at Derby, losing a playoff final qualified him for the Chelsea job and Everton getting that is a big gig too. Let him piss off down to league 2 if he’s serious about management and learn his craft. The guy hardly needs the money
  21. You do know that “ the vote of confidence “ in football is actually the deathknell ? Weird i know but the sack tends to come soon after. I’d be shocked if he takes training Monday.
  22. Everton have really bad players. I know Lampard is shit but that team is really poor. Such neglect over the years. They’d do well to make top 6 in the championship. I think another guy could squeeze a bit more out of them but it’s a bit of a myth that they are massively underperforming. That team is similar to our relegation year. The funny thing is their fanbase still won’t think they’ll go down. Ahh i remember that naivety all too well 7 years ago. Wait until March or so when they are still there - then it gets real.
  23. Yeah but if you are getting 10 mins and in that 10 mins trying to play your way into the team and you play a part in a concession of a goal like that - it’s not good. People are diverting away and talking about the running back. He got back well in time when the move wasn’t in the red zone so to speak. He was physically weak and i felt it was a tokenism type tackle that lacked any real conviction
  24. That was so strange. Luiz threw himself to the ground like when your playing the computer on FIFA ‘96 on the mega drive and the A1 is none too clever
  25. Unless he’s given an absolute hospital pass that’s beyond recovery - he just doesn’t lose the ball. I hope also with him been just 23 we don’t try and bulk him up even more, try make him this machine. He’s fine as is. The perfect blend of physical and classy footballing ability.
