It's claimed that Bernstein and Adrian Bevington, who worked with Hodgson during their days with The FA, were keen to lure the 68-year-old to Villa Park, but owner Randy Lerner is keen to cut costs, and bringing in a big-name manager like Hodgson wasn't possible under that plan.
