  1. We need Daniel Sturridge like a hole in the head. Let Newcastle or West Ham have him.
  2. Imagine this is just a tactic to get stoke to be reasonable on their fee. By all accounts a fee was agreed before Stoke tried to increase it. Butland is clearly our number one target.
  3. Each to their own but buying ampadu would be the very definition of taking a risk for me. Kid has played a few games cup games for Chelsea and internationals for Wales. Phillips is much more proven.
  4. So you’re saying that we should spend less money and take a gamble on a totally unproven dmc in English Football? Or take a has been on high wages to reduce cost? No thanks - DMC is a critical buy. In a perfect world we need Phillips and cheaper cover. Conor can warm the bench for McGinn.
  5. Phillips is already Prem standard and has already been coached into the role by Bielsa. Very low risk for me and would be an exceptional signing who would hit the ground running (literally) from day one. Ramires is the type of signing we would have attempted when we had money but were run less well. He’s got “west ham” written all over him if he comes back to England.
  6. Bruce finished Chester’s career by leaving us so exposed at the back. Chester played on during our injury crisis knowing that it was probably going to cost him his career. 99% of players would not have done that. He deserves every credit and we should keep him on the playing staff for as long as he can meaningfully contribute on the pitch. Let’s help him get his badges and then offer him a coaching position as well. We owe him - it’s as simple as that.
  7. Get Mings signed and then gazump them for Butland as soon as they agree the fee with Stoke. If we stay up and Mings stays fit no one will care about the fee.
  8. Phillips would be an outstanding signing - even at 25 to 30m. There is a reason why Bielsa - probably the most respected manager of his entire generation - is fighting tooth and nail to keep him. A midfield of Phillips, McGinn and Jack would not need to be touched for the next three to four years.
  9. People just need to chill. All players are either still on their holidays or playing in the U21, African or South American tournaments. Championship teams only report back for initial tests on Monday. A lot of work to be done but I’m sure we have been progressing what we can. Things will only start motoring for championship targets from next week onwards. will have to wait longer if other targets are playing in the wider tournaments.
  10. Does anyone know if the properties next to the Doug Ellis are owned privately or by the council?
  11. We should not be thinking about moving away from Villa park under ANY circumstance. Every team in the league apart from Liverpool and Man Utd would give their left nut for our history. All we need is a grand plan to turn villa park into a 65k stadium. That’s relatively easy by putting a Super Holte with rail seating (the way it should have been) to replace the North Stand and a sympathetic huge Old Trinity replacement where the Doug Ellis is. Fill the corners in and job done. At the same time get the council to improve the transport links on the basis that you’re willing to spend 200m+ on regenerating the area. I
  12. Younger fans are just excited. After Jack he was probably the most liked player, maybe even more than McGinn. I don’t imagine it’s bothering Tyrone or anyone else - it’s harmless.
  13. Speak to your local Lions club or contact the club and they will look after you.
  14. 140m is the top end of what we can spend. Maybe the new commercial deal changes that.
  15. How we set up against Man City and Liverpool will be an exception. For everyone else, I’m sure that we are going to attack and go to win every game. Some may call it naive but it’s going to be fun and going to be a lot better than trying to grind out 15 draws away from home.
  16. He definitely cares and definitely wants to join. I’m sure that the pay and rations will just be a formality.
  17. Hopefully Man Utd get in an expensive centre half (de Ligt or the Napoli guy) and we can then stick with Mings and Tuanzebe. Failing that i’d take the Brentford centre back instead of Cahill.
  18. I’d definitely pay 25m for a 10/15 goal striker. Assuming others chip in it pretty much guarantees you staying up. Lets not get ahead of ourselves. Every other team in the Prem will be seeing us as near certainties to go down. Especially on the basis that at the moment we would barely even be able to field a competitive XI. Getting Tammy, Mings, Hause and Ghazi confirmed in the next two weeks would be melt down territory.
  19. In modern football, especially at the highest level, mobile athletic fullbacks are a key attacking outlet. Think about the areas of the pitch that the fullbacks at Liverpool, Man City and Spurs get to. Taylor has been solid this season but has no business being a premier league squaddie. Elmo brings leadership as well as more attacking threat so he can stay for 1 more season. Assuming Guilbert is up to scratch we definitely need two new left backs.
  20. His CV is not impressive at all. Probably the only manager in Porto’s recent history NOT to win a trophy in that tinpot league. It’s easy to look a good manager when you’re basically just a rent boy for the most well known agent in the world.
  21. Do I get to counter by saying yes, if we scored from all of the ten shots we had on target? As for the red card. They’d been allowed to kick us with impunity for much of the first and second legs with little punishment. The least they deserved was two reds but could easily have been a number more. Suffice to say, we could have done better but we’ll rarely play in that set of circumstances again. We weren’t unlucky or played off the park and more than deserved the win over the both games. Lads showed bottle and a huge mentality to get through as they did at Leeds, Sheff Wed, Rotherham etc. We need to improve but it’s patently ridiculous to say it was one of the worst performances of the season considering the context of the game.
  22. Also same size as the Derby County pitch....I.e standard size required to be able to hold international matches.
  23. Id take the below “woeful” stats every single game. 9/10 that would result in an absolute hammering. We just have to cut out ten minutes of sloppiness in the second half and the over playing in the final third. We get those stats against Derby and we win.
  24. Another myth is that we were dreadful. Yeah, we were so bad that a team that finished above us and scored more goals than us played us over two legs with the sole intention of stopping us scoring and trying to score from a long throw. credit to Albion, they put all footballing dignity aside and played like a non league team at Man city away - even at their own ground. We could have played better but it’s bloody hard to play against a team, camped in their third, with 6 defenders on the pitch allowed by the ref to kick the shit out of you. I love the fact that teams are scared of us now and are changing how they play. Hopefully derby do the same.
