  1. They are nearly upto 50 pages today alone on owlstalk forum about forestieri & as you can imagine some of it is "interesting", Similar to the delph stuff last year i guess but if you want something to read for half an hour before the athletics starts again it starts about here http://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/243808-forestieri/&page=54
  2. some photos from one of their fans (click on one to get full screen slide-show) http://zipstrips2011-2012.blogspot.co.uk/2016/08/aston-villa-3-millers-013th-august-2016.html
  3. like it or not, getting 52,000 to watch that shite is very impressive
  4. Apparently he tried hard enough but was convinced to play late on
  5. unless the game is one of the 2 live sky games or the espn 3 o clock kick off live match all they show is the goals which you can see hours earlier on the sky website. If you have been one of the 3 live matches you don't really need the extended highlights anyway, pointless show
  6. Quite a few making their first defence too including the South Korean womens archery team (1 member won at london) who added to their already bonkers record of never having lost a single match in the olympics since the sport was introduced in 1988 winning gold all 8 times. Obviously the individual competitors have changed over the years but a team member has also won the individual event 8 out of the last 9 olympics only failing in Beijing and even then they took silver & bronze. Can't think of any other sport where a single nation is so completely dominant but at the same time very few people even know/care
  7. To be fair she is by far the fastest woman in the world at 5000m this year (17 seconds clear of anyone else) and has 3 of the fastest 10 times ever at that distance so it probably isn't a complete surprise. Moved over to 10,000 and appears to be able to run as fast as she can at 5000 without the extra distance troubling her.
  8. Seen a couple of other people suggesting this too, Would be the cock-up to end all cock-ups if they haven't got the distance right and really can't see it but you never know i guess. Hard to tell how quick the track is yet as there have been no other distance races, No real super quick times in the mens 800m heats today but there were quite a few around the 1.45 mark which is only 1.5 seconds off the best times of the year so far. The womens 1500 heats are in a few hours which may give a better indication as obviously there is an extra couple of laps and the mens 10,000 will be interesting in the early hours of sunday morning. If they haven't already sent someone out there with a measuring wheel they probably should pretty quickly
  9. it's based on this but it doesn't translate too well http://finance.ifeng.com/a/20151019/14025162_0.shtml
  10. that's kinda why he's leaving the baggies so whilst he can i doubt he would particularly want to. Seems to be best in a back 3 and i think that this would be our best option as it would provide far more cover for Amavi/Bacuna to get up & down the wings
  11. She barely even broke a sweat, lapping other runners like they were traffic cones. The daft thing is that Vivien Cheruiyot in second was only about half a second off the long standing record but was about 120m & 15 seconds behind Ayana. Even more amazing is that it is only the second actual race she has ever had at 10,000m, her first was in June where she ran 30 min 07 sec, 6 weeks later she runs 29.17
  12. Can't see it happening but would love GH back. He has been part of UEFA & FIFA's technical commitees & Technical director for the french national team along with being head of global football for red bull.
  13. 2 golds in 15 minutes for the GB rowing team. Golver & Stanning won the womens pairs again & the mens 4 have just done the same. Both races maybe a little closer than was expected/they would have liked but pretty much went to plan leading the whole way. Ennis had the quickest time in the hurdles so leads the heptathlon after 1 event, Shame there were only some journalists, a few family/friends and about 6 other people there to see it.
  14. Even worse is all of the people on that photo & the other new one praising him saying he is just what we need. I almost wish we had played him at luton just to hammer in the final nail in his coffin. One day they will learn........
  15. Nice to finally have the athletics starting today, Whilst i have enjoyed the swimming, cycling, kayaking, diving, archery, womens weightlifting & other randomness i have watched for many an hour this week the track & field is always the main interest. Ennis Hill / Johnson-Thompson UK timings for those interested in the heptathlon : 100m hurdles 13.35, High Jump 14.50, Shot Put 00.35 & 200m 02.05. Lots of chances for more British medals pretty much all through the day today
  16. I think he'll settle down a bit once the transfer windows shuts and we hopefully start winning a few games although i imagine he'll pop back up when we inevitably lose a few of the 173 local derby we play games this season as he will be getting no end of abuse from other teams fans
  17. They nearly lost to Australia last night...
  18. He was very good at Hull but seems to have vanished at WBA, Hull probably had the best defence in the championship for a couple of years and he is used to playing in a back 4 under pearson and as part of a back 3 under Bruce. Could be exactly what we need to give us a bit of flexibility at the back (elphick/chester/baker as 3 centre backs would give people like amavi more confidence/cover when he goes forwards). Look at the squad mentality wales have, Sure they have Bale/Ramsey but the rest of the team are not world beaters but they all know what their roles are and work damn hard for each other, He wouldn't be in that team if he didn't have the right attitude.
  19. Given the players we have at our disposal i would go with this As depressing as it is i think that is probably the best lineup we have. Cissokho is clearly better at defending than Amavi but both of them are pretty quick and should be able to provide cover for each other giving ample opportunity to get forwards when needed. Veretout has barely featured through pre season but i would say he is probably the best midfielder we have after seeing Gardner (terrible) and Tshibola (doesn't look ready and getting beat every week is just going to destroy him too) Baker & Elphick kind of pick themselves at the moment due to the complete shower of shite that are our other defensive options. The right hand side is still an issue but we simple do not have anyone else and until we can find some replacements i think the only option is Hutton/Bacuna with Hutton pretty much being told never to cross the half way line. For all his sulking Ayew is probably still the best forward and whilst McCormack hasn't done a great deal yet he has to start but if Ayew goes like last night again get him straight off As for Subs, Bunn, Grealish, Tshibola, Hepburn-Murphy, Gestede, Adama (if fit) & Richards (have to have a defender there no matter how crap) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If Chester signs this would make a big difference for me
  20. http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/10530817/sky-sports-confirms-live-sky-bet-efl-fixtures-for-october-and-november Sky Bet Championship 7:45pm Friday 18th November Amex Stadium http://www.skysports.com/football/brighton-vs-a-villa/358305
  21. McCormack to score anytime & Villa to win in 90 mins is 11/4 on skybet. Tempting
  22. Now Friday Nov 18th 7.45pm :/
  23. what could possibly go wrong... I am pretty sure that the FA will issue some new guidelines regarding twitter//social media before the season is out based soley on the ramblings of Dr Tony
  24. Just under 9 million so far isn't it? 4.5 Gollini 3 Elphick 5.5 Tshibola 12 McCormack = £25 million Less 7.1 for Gana, 5 for Clark & 3.5 For Sinclair If you take the savings by not having Guzan/Richardson/Zog/richardson/gil amongst others on the wage bill i would guess that we probably haven't actually spent a penny
  25. It just shows how skewed the premier league is to everything else. For now at least we hold the record for the highest transfer fee paid as a championship club for Ross McCormack and there have only ever been 6 transfers in over 10 million (2 of these actually involve McCormack) Meanwhile in the premier league 800 million + has been spent in the summer so far with Burnley, Hull, Sunderland, Swansea & West Brom the only teams yet to spend more than 10 million on a single player. Our parachute payment alone is more than many of the clubs in this division have spent in their entire history.
