  1. Probably won't happen given the reports going around but I wouldn't mind something like... Martinez Cash-Chambers-Carlos-Digne Iroegbunam-Kamara Bailey-Buendia-Coutinho Archer
  2. That's a funny way of spelling "I said I was right that we wouldn't sign any more players and then people pointed out that we literally had in the intervening period".
  3. The asking price for Conor Gallagher has just dropped by about £25 million anyway.
  4. In the event Sanson and - more inevitably -- Chukwuemeka leave that leaves Ramsey, McGinn and Luiz to cover two positions as proper 8s, with the latter possibly also being first choice back up to Kamara over Nakamba dependent on the opposition (and if he doesn't leave himself I suppose). I think an incoming at CM seems a lot more feasible then, especially with 5 subs now coming in.
  5. Probably going to say this after every game I see him play but I just can't believe we've managed to sign him.
  6. Came in here to wonder the same. In men's football he's excelled at wing back and it does seem like he has a lot of the attributes that suit it, so it'd be interesting to see how he got on at right back given that's what Villa play (despite the full backs being so attacking when in possession).
  7. He just looks one of those players that does the simple things extremely well already. Has a deceptively good first touch, it's nothing too fancy but he manages to take clearances down and help keep the opposition pinned in. Perfect ball out to KKH to play first time for the goal as well.
  8. Obviously there's loads of question marks around his all round game to a certain level but I think he might already be better going forward than Cash to be honest.
  9. Obviously we don't see training day in and day out, but being that he's apparently been kept around for the moment rather than loaned out to be assessed I know what striker I've been most impressed by so far...
  10. Shame half time arrived when it did as the tempo had just gone up and Villa were looking much more likely Love Matty Cash but his lack of composure is a killer sometimes. He'd be an unbelievable players if he wasn't so wasteful in forward areas.
  11. Bailey on the left in a game such as this feels like it really restricts him. Has nice moments but then is on his weaker side and struggles to get much off.
  12. Obviously by virtue of teams such as Villa, Newcastle and so forth being able to sign top players from other big leagues the Premier League is stronger top to bottom than the rest, but to call one of the top leagues in Europe Championship standard is a bit over the top. At an absolute push we probably could have finished about 9th in Serie A last season.
  13. Fair enough if he's been taken out of context, that'd be my bad. As I said though not having a dig or anything as he seems a good egg but it feels like every window he either has some contradictory moments or big shouts that just flat out don't happen. Suppose it comes with the territory of having his job and evidently not great contacts to go along with it, but doesn't exactly endear his work to the wider, less understanding fan base.
  14. Preece seems like a good guy but he really doesn't help himself does he. Didn't he literally say we were done transfer-wise only like last week or something.
  15. Agree completely, think some underplay the depth of our squad when you compare it to sides such as Palace who we're in competition with. Appreciate how difficult it is due to the quality of the league, but there really should be a lot of pressure on finishing top 10 this season as it is, never mind if we also manage to make space for another quality signing in midfield.
  16. Yeah, any player would have struggled to impress in that second half anyway. The game was a mess.
  17. Extremely encouraging half from Bailey, really seems to have the bit between his teeth for this season which is good to see. Just hope his body can hold up. Some nice flashes and he actually made some good runs in behind where he'd have been away down the wing had a teammate been able to pick him out.
  18. The effort from the rebound was a shocker from Coutinho, trying to be too clever reversing the shot when the entire other side of the goal was left unattended. In fairness to Meslier it's an incredible save to deny Watkins though.
  19. Yeah, it's only a small thing but that ball out to Cash I'm guessing you're referring to is something you've just not seen from a Villa player in a while. Thought the same of Carlos vs Walsall, hard to read into it too much but encouraging all the same.
  20. Just happened to wake up 5 minutes before kick off so have decided to try to stick it out, not sure I'll last particularly long. First couple of minutes were rough as we were struggling with their press, but the intensity of that was always going to be hard for them to maintain, especially in pre-season. Some decent stuff being played since.
  21. VillaTV re-running the live stream again immediately after it finishes apparently, so around an 8am start.
  22. That makes sense in theory, but that doesn't mean he has to sign for whatever team is willing to stump up a fee now when he could just wait it out and sign for another team that are offering him more in line with whatever his current demands are. In any case I was more so talking about the size of the fee rather than paying one at all, bidding war or otherwise I'd be surprised if Villa were to get anything approaching £20 million for him. Fair play if they can, mind.
  23. Not sure why any club would pay some form of substantial fee for him when you can agree a deal in January and pay 200k or whatever it is folk have said it'd be.
