  1. I think all women should be encouraged to just make themselves "invisible" for the entirety of transfer windows so us blokes can enjoy our bit of gossip for a change. I mean, let's face it, women spend all of their lives f**cking gossiping and do we interfere? No! We just sit there listening (pretending) and nodding our heads saying "I couldn't agree more love or, yes babe, I think that's bang out of order". Cameron, make it law already! Ban women from the transfer windows, especially those whose initials are JB **EDIT** Except for the professional women who bring us transfer news such as Natalie Sawyer. Those women help us get over the disappointment of the players we lose or miss out on and are therefore good pain relief! I've generally no issues with the Mrs in regards to the football, she's a die hard fan herself (Liverpool unfortunately) and we never miss a PL game in our house. But she just doesn't understand the importance of the summer transfer window
  2. I've only seen Gestede in highlights reels (I watch pretty much every Football League Show) and the odd match on Sky. He looks an absolute player but I'd suggest that the defences in the Championship may not be quite as smart as Premier League defences. He appears to be strong, fantastic in the air and a nightmare to try and win the ball from. If we wanted to sign a Benteke-lite, purely for aerial prowess, Gestede fits the bill. That's my only concern, I've heard a lot of people say they rate him but defences in the Championship are just not the same. We've seen many talented players take the step up and just not cut the mustard. Remember Jermaine Beckford? I thought he was absolute class before signing for Everton but he wasn't the same in the PL.
  3. Only just been able to see if we're linked to anybody new today as the Mrs keeps hiding my phone as I'm "Spending my f*****g life on VillaTalk". I've got over 3 weeks off work, what does she expect? On topic, has anybody seen much of Gestede? I only saw him a couple of times last year, not enough to judge him as a player. Damn double post

  5. It's medically known as a positivigasm. True story.
  6. Surely, SURELY, they won't do that again They'll both do it when he scores his first goal for the club. (Adebayor's not Sherwood's)
  7. Sign of the times! Why bother watching someone play when FIFA can guess their ratings. Because not everyone has the means to watch every Ligue 1 game whereas a lot of people do have games such as FIFA and FM, so what's wrong with using that as a baseline judgement? And I can guarantee those types of comments only come out when talking about players who don't play in the Premier League, Championship or Champion's League, if we were trying to sign Joey Barton you wouldn't be seeing comments saying "well, he is rated high 70's on FIFA, he could be good" because most people will have seen someone like Barton regularly so can gauge his ability more from what they've seen rather than having to make hesitant guesses about his ability on the limited knowledge pool they have. Everyone has the means, but do they have the inclination! It's not really a baseline judgement it's some guy deciding a rating on how much they like the player or where they think they play, not for everyone but for most. FM i'll give you, they have an established network of scouts which have been operating for years and years and they sell their data to clubs. Discussing FIFA ratings starts conversation but more than anything it examples the lack of attention people give to rating a player. Many fans used to watch to judge, now they think FIFA can provide them a baseline opinion, it can't and it doesn't. it simply examples laziness, if you don't know about a player it's much better to say so or ask whether someone else does. Definitely not having a go at you though, just making a general point attributed to a previous discussion. Back on topic, Veretout is a prospect so once again Sherwood has done something we're not used to, beat the competition. Fair play to him. It's certainly not laziness, the ratings on Fifa are put in place by FIFPRO and are supposed to be an exact representation of the player, so as to play correctly based on the team/players you select. Even if they are not always exactly correct, it certainly is a good way of gauging a player you know nothing about. At least to start with until you can gather more information from people who know more about said player.
  8. And the rest We could have a whole new defence to look at A whole new midfield to look at Two new strikers to look at In fact when was the last time a team had all ten outfielders making debuts? -------------------Guzan Crespo-----Richards-----New CB-------Amavi ---------Veretout----------Gueye--------Newbie ----------------------Praet ---------------Ade-------------Ayew Only need another two or three to make this a reality No Gill or Grealish? Are you mad? Or are you assuming that they've moved to Citeh by this point?
  9. It making you cringe is hardly a good reason to stop. You may not like it, but is is a general way of gauging players some of us are not quite clued up on. Even if, as I've said, some players ratings are a little off based on who they play for.
  10. I do agree but I think it's something that will come in time. If he's 10 yards out with a free shot and doesn't take it then I'm sure Tim will let him know.
  11. Watching him on loan at notts county he looked to shoot or break into the box to finish or dribble round the keeper. I think it's just a case of building his confidence to do this in the premier league, the defenders aren't going to be as easily dealt with as the ones he was dealing with then. Given a season or two and I think we'll be seeing 10+ goals from him. But I agree that I'd rather him make a key pass than reverting to Tonevs moon shots. Let's just hope the players can read his passes, sometimes last season he caught out our own players as well as the opposition defenders, he was just leaps and bounds ahead of them mentally.
  12. Not at all, it doesn't really mean anything. I only put it on here because of the RM thing, his rating doesn't mean too much because as I said, players for top teams get hyped up on there and players at lesser teams get looked over a little.
  13. For those of you who do play FUT/FIFA, that means **** all. Well on Fifa it means a lot, I certainly wouldn't be putting him in my team. But yes, in terms of real life it doesn't mean much, players on Fifa generally are underrated unless they're at one of the top 6 teams. Benteke for instance has never been great on there, I'll bet you anything he'll be amazing next season now he's at Liverpool.
  14. Says on Fifa he's a RM, 67 rated silver card. For those of you who don't play FUT, that's not good.
  15. This scampi happening. More fish puns! Don't let them reel you in Sid, it's just typical of what to expect on the net. Best pun ever.
  16. From the Rolan thread, a player in the French league. You're basically saying you don't watch French football here. Can't have changed much in 2 days. Which is it? Hahaha BUSTED !!!! To be fair he doesn't actually name the French league as the one he watches out the domestic game...just saying Well yeah but it is insinuated
  17. Wish I had your confidence. On paper the team looks shite. We were shite with Delph and Benteke, a couple of unproven Premier League players signed, an possibly Adebayor coming in, is gonna change................................wait for it............................ feck all!! "WHERE ARE THE BIG MONEY SIGNINGS". For once we are, or will be feckin loaded and I am still seeing randoms coming in. You call them randoms. Others would call them solid signings. So would I. And me. The best young left back in Europe and a midfielder probably better than Delph. I completely agree, but Delph hardly kept us up last season, Benteke did. I hardly think Adebayor is a replacement. I'm certainly not gonna jump on the doom and gloom bandwagon, but I'm feeling a little cautious in regards to my optimism, at least until another striker comes in.
  18. I'd love us to sign him, I know a lot of people are saying we're not in for him, but fingers are still firmly crossed ✌
  19. I do agree with you, but generally when things like this are reported on SSN or the BBC, then it's because it probably has. They spend a fortune on being the first to report these things, they have sources and contacts that most media sources could only dream of.
  20. SSN confirming the fee has been met :/
  21. Reckon a bid towards the end of the window may do the trick A cheeky one?
  22. I imagine Man City bid, Villa had no choice but accept, Delph speaks to City to say that he's not interested and they should move on, media think "Delph is talking to City and a bid has been accepted? OMG he's off" they run with the story and it gets blown out of proportion, they assume he's taking a medical asap and we all go crazy. Classic case of 2+2=5
  23. For me it's either Clark or Clarke
  24. why? foreign players arent robots who cant be persuaded to join an English team. you dont need a special technique to sign foreign players No but you cant use british charm on a player that doesnt speak english! I dont know I just dont get a good vibe about this deal. I personally think he doesnt want to come Sherwood, British Charm. Ya avin a babble!!? Don't be too harsh. He correctly turned down Falcao for 5m in the same window You made that up right? He certainly didn't, Heskey was signed instead with that money. Get outa here!! Don't make me hate MON even more than I do! Seriously, I remember reading a couple of years after, Falcao's agent confirming that it got all the way to agreeing personal terms when MON pulled out of the deal to sign Heskey. Catastrophically bad decision eh?
