Lots of negativity here tonight. Liverpool are a decent side who kept their defensive and midfield fours very tight all game and suffocated us every time we moved forward. We had no answers in the first half but were much improved in the second. We outshot them 4 to 1 and there were very decent chances for Ben Turkey and Gabby so we could have won this by three or four and the same doomsday merchants on here would be working up a sweat with a box of tissues if we had ! Thought Delph was excellent again and his driving runs bode well for the season ahead. All in all, it was a different Villa to anything I saw last season and I remain very optimistic for the season ahead.

Lerner's only failing was in allowing MON to financially cripple us and set us up for years of misery - its amazing how many Villa slate Learner but still find kind words for MON !

Just get tickets for "home" end ...... I know of a lot of Villa who are doing likewise. Could be several hundred in there !!!

I don't believe any garbage in the tabloids but I fully expect Tekkers to leave at season's end no matter where Villa end up. He is too good for a struggling side and he has too much to lose if he isn't on the main stage. If you or I was his agent then there is no way we'd be encouraging him to stay at Villa in the summer. Hopefully his desire to impress the bigger clubs will ensure we get a great run-in from him and we can only hope that leads us to safety and a tidy profit too ..... I think, on current form, £20M is the absolute minimum.

KEA is not fit enough yet for Premier League and that shouldn't be the case. He is currently too slow to close people down, he is a weak tackler, poor in the air and really just pointless unless he can address his core fitness issues. He is certainly not the tough tackling, dominant hard man that he bragged he would be after signing ...... that has proved seriously embarrassing !

Why do people keep banging on about our defence ? It is our midfield - or lack of - that exposes our defence horribly. If we actually had a midfield then the defence will prove to be as good as anybody elses. You can't keep blaming the defenders when our lightweight midfield allows numbers to crash our box such that we are outnumbered. Sort the midfield out and the defence will have a decent chance to perform.

<optimist> Villa will be more active when the "loan window" opens next week ..... expect a couple of loan deals ! </optimist>

Played too narrow again in the first half - once Gabby and Andi were on we suddenly had width and the midfield/full backs had easy out balls and looked like they were half decent players. Lambert has to smell the bacon and play the rest of the season 4-4-2 and WITH WIDTH ! Never have rated Bent but, ironically, we could have done with him in the second half because he'd have been onto some of those low crosses !
