  1. Players come to the Premier League for the money, not the prestige. They go to Champions League clubs in the other 4 big leagues to win stuff and/or get in the spotlight for a big money move because there are only 6 clubs in Europe outside of the Prem who can compete financially (PSG, Bayern, Barca, Madrid, Atletico, & Juve).
  2. That "clickbaity media article" was from the oldest daily newspaper in Korea... Here is the original article at Chosun: https://www.chosun.com/sports/world-football/2023/04/30/CWGUPNIIVBCAXFG5WVTJZRHX3A/?outputType=amp The link I sent was a translated version from a Korean News in English complier... If the newspaper of record is making an issue about his military service requirement impacting his near term career, it must mean something...
  3. So much doom and gloom in here... Brighton have 5 games in 15 days to close the season out... Arsenal & Newcastle away, Southampton & Man City at home, and finishing up at Villa Park. It's very possible they only pick up 6 more points before the final match (Everton & Southampton). If we pick up 6 points in our next 3 games, Brighton come to Villa Park only a point ahead of us and the winner of the game decides who finishes 6th and who finishes 7th. Spurs have to play a surging Palace, the mighty Villa, Brentford, and end the season at Elland Road where Leeds might need to get something out of that game to survive. I don't see them getting more points than us if we beat them. Basically, if Brighton pick up more than a point against Man City, Arsenal, and Newcastle, we probably won't catch them for 6th unless we win out. If not, the last game of the season will decide which one of us gets the Europa League and which gets the Conference League.
  4. We need much more than one very good striker, but it's a start.
  5. These are the kind of players we'll be linked with all summer... Young highly talented players who are struggling at a big club for whatever reason (manager, tactics, etc.) but Emery thinks he can get the best out of them with his coaching methods and in his system. I honestly think both are a bit out of reach right now but I think all it takes is one huge signing to open the door for others to join quickly.
  6. Same. Especially with Emery's comments about him before we played Chelsea. Sounds like we tried to sign him and made our inquiries, but he wanted to go to Chelsea for Champions League footy, but maybe after how much of a fookin disaster move it was for him he might want to go to a more harmonious dressing room this time around:
  7. Adrian’s distribution is shambolic. Remember how many goals he gave us in that 7-2 game? No chance LaFont would come to be a backup, IMO. It would kill his career. He‘ll probably be off to be a starter for an Italian or Spanish mid table side next in his career.
  8. Not correct... Where you reside does not exclude you from military service if you're a Korean citizen, unless you renounce your citizenship. LKI still needs to compete his service. Here is a recent Korean news article on the subject. https://korea.postsen.com/sports/150294/Kim-Min-jae-and-Lee-Kang-in’s-transfer-the-military-determines…-Military-service-as-a-negotiation-variable.html
  9. That's not correct... Unless he renounces his South Korean citizenship all together, he needs to do it still. Napoli's star CB Kim Min-Jae won gold at the Asian games in 2018 and still has to complete his reduced 3 weeks of military service this summer. LKI, on the other hand, is not exempt... Here is a recent article specifically about the two of them from an English Korean news source: https://korea.postsen.com/sports/150294/Kim-Min-jae-and-Lee-Kang-in’s-transfer-the-military-determines…-Military-service-as-a-negotiation-variable.html
  10. Pretty sure players' agents will tell you this, or at the very least a ballpark figure.
  11. IDK... Everyone on VillaTalk seems to think this kid is going to be the next big thing and many think he's going to be in our 1st team squad next year but I haven't seen anything other than unwarranted hype from "random people on a forum." He hasn't impressed me at all whenever I've seen him play for QPR. Maybe he'll turn out to be the next Vieira and I'll look like an idiot, but I don't think he's anywhere near ready for the Villa 1st team squad yet and needs another Championship loan.
  12. He has to complete 2 years of his required South Korean military service sometime in the next 4 years. Most of the rest of the South Korean national team received a military service exemption when they won the gold medal at the Asian Games in 2018, but Lee decided to not join the squad at that time and focus on his club career. He has one more opportunity to win an exemption this fall at the 2022 Asian Games, but it's going to be even harder this time around with the rise of Japanese football. So what happens to us? We spend all this money on him to come to Villa only to have him for 2 years before he fooks off for 2 years? I think it's the reason why nobody else has come in for him yet.
  13. The most successful businesses hire the best people and give them the space, time, and resources to do their job well. You've always gotten the feeling from NSWE that they've truly embraced this philosophy when it comes to Aston Villa, but when you see Emery's transformation of the squad on the football pitch exceed all expectations so far, you knew it was only going to be a matter of time before we went after someone else of his caliber for the front office. Villa are one of the top 20 biggest clubs in the world and for the first time in a very long time we're finally starting to act like it. I'm truly over the moon to hear about Alemany coming to the club and it really feels like we're making a push to be a top 4 club again.
  14. The Barcelona subreddit is on suicide watch right now. They're stunned that little ole' Aston Fookin' Villa is stealing their prized DOF from them. "Why would he go to Villa? They don't have oil money..."
  15. Pickford and Vardy have two of the most punchable faces in the Prem. They look like a couple of house painters who show up the the job late and take turns destroying your bathroom because they’re hung over and have to take beer shits.
  16. The camera zoomed in on Pickford’s water bottle and it had Leicester’s penalty takers and notes on directions/percentages of each. Very clever way of keeping the info, instead of the good ole Jens Lehmann sock note.
  17. Yes, the current animal cracker lion looks like complete garbage on TV compared to newer more modern badges.
  18. Amazing quality game for the neutrals when neither team plays any sort of defense. So glad we aren’t in the shit again this season because one of these two will be going down at the end of the season.
  19. I didn’t like either of the options when they were presented, but the new round badge has grown on me. New owners, new manager, new North Stand, new era on and off the pitch. Will be good to finally purge the Lerner/Xia demons with it as well.
  20. Frustrating game with the weather. Our gameplan is hurt the worst from it, whereas United are just pinging long balls over the top trying to beat the offside trap and eventually it worked out for them. We're slipping and sliding all over the pitch and players are overhitting touches or pulling up short because of the rain. No idea how Casimero hasn't gotten at least a yellow for that tackle through the back of JJ that didn't get any of the ball, but looks like this will be another game where the ref doesn't card anyone and the foul count will climb up to almost 30 against us.
  21. I know it's the Mirror, but this is a realistic good prospect for us. Not going to pretend I know much about his game, but I saw both legs of the Feyenoord v Roma Europa League clash and he stood out to me in their home leg as a gritty box to box midfielder.
  22. We could just be scouting Valencia again, as their entire squad will be sold off at a cut rate this summer if they go down.
  23. Packers fans over here in the States are a bit like Arsenal fans in the UK. Most aren't from Wisconsin, they moan about everything, they always think they're better than they actually are, and are quick to gloat whenever they win a game. They're always good to laugh at.
  24. When I saw them trading up, you just knew they were taking Ringo for the Georgia memes... lol
