  1. This. He was completely marked out of the game today. Whenever the ball came to him, one of their defenders was right on top of him before he could receive it. Great tactical gameplan from Brentford today.

What's with this narrative that Chelsea never looked like they were going to score against us and we locked them up defensively? I was on the verge of having a heart attack the entire game because they dominated possession and were very close to scoring many times. Yes, McGinn also hit the post and Ollie had another good chance which was saved, but I still don't know how Chelsea didn't score at least one goal that game. Go back to the match thread and see how many posts there were about how it was only going to be a matter of time before they equalized. xG is leading metric to predict outcomes that haven't happened yet (winning the game). It isn't always accurate because other factors, like luck/confidence, are variables not included in that metric, but on a long enough timeline when they're reduced, it can predict if a team is headed in the right direction or not. It's ok to admit that we're playing extremely well and possibly overachieving from where we should be via xG/xGA/xPTS, but it doesn't mean those metrics are garbage and we should just ignore anything that doesn't indicate we're going to win 8 more games in a row and finish 3rd in the table.
  3. We should really be looking at Spain, Portugal, and Italy for players. Italy in particular is an untapped gold mine of talent right now. 5 teams in Champions League/Europa League/Conference League semifinals and that doesn't include the 2 teams at the top of the table (Napoli & Lazio).
  4. I wonder if this is an old story being regurgitated or if it's actually happening now. Here is a story from February with all 3 names listed as well. Says either Villa or Barca are signing the group and there is a lot of confusion as to which club has made offers to the team. https://sportwitness.co.uk/confusion-aston-villa-approach-transfer-chief-one-offer-villans-another-club/ Lange's recruits that he was being crucified for under Gerrard are starting to look good under Emery, so it seems a bit harsh to give him and his entire scouting/recruitment staff the boot for another regime. On the other hand, Cordon's group have performed miracles at Betis and the parallels to Villa are eerily similar. The club appointed both Cordon and manager Manuel Pellegrini in 2020 they took the club from 15th to winning the Copa del Rey and qualifying for the Europa League on a shoestring budget. They're currently 3 points off a Champions League spot in La Liga with a squad composed of a lot of former flops from across Europe and very good young talent they've scouted. It would possibly be a very big upgrade in the recruitment side of the club if these guys do join us this year.
  5. He's an internet celebrity. Regularly makes stupid takes and is hilarious to watch when Man United throw games.
  6. "When I said 'Moments of Magic' that's not what I meant!!!!"
  7. Terry sums up Robbie Savage the best.
  8. Spam destroying Gent now. Roma back in the tie with a goal.
  9. West Ham scored from a soft penalty. I really hate these VAR penalty calls for when the ball deflects off the leg of a player and onto their arm unintentionally.
  10. United lucky to not concede another one there... West Ham just hit the crossbar AND the post. They've come out of the 2nd half swinging.
  11. Goal for Sevilla! They're through now.
  12. I head one ManUre supporter on a podcast this week say he'd still rather have Sancho than Saka... Can't make this up.
  13. Juve, Sevilla, & Leverkusen look like they're through. Mourinho's Roma struggling and might also go out to Feyenoord. Spam tied up in the Conference League.
  14. This could get ugly if Sevilla score again quickly.
  15. hahahahaha... Fookin' Slabhead!!! Can't make this up!!!
  16. TBH, I'd like them to go through to the semis before getting knocked out, so they're forced to play 2 more games with their makeshift squad. It'll make their run in that much worse.
  17. Sevilla's ground is popping... Going to be very tough for ManUre today.
  18. He's had ONE documented injury this season... A sports hernia, for which he needed surgery/several months to recover. He's been fully fit for a bit now and still not getting picked by Arteta. Sounds like it's attitude related based on Arteta's comments. He's looking for more from ESR in training and doesn't want him to rest on his laurels from last season.
  19. This may be Man City's year for a treble. Madrid look like their only challenge in the Champions League, they'll have either Brighton or Man United in the FA Cup final, and Arsenal are starting to capitulate in the Premier League title race. Man City are almost boring to watch right now because they're so robotic with how they dismantle teams.
  20. Bayern look like they're out of options... They don't believe they can come back into this tie.
  21. Two games in a row now he's been peak Titus Bramble...
  22. We were never actually going to get him... He was one of the hottest prospects in Europe at that point. He's now an elite player.
  23. Yeah, Villa would never have someone in the squad like that... Oh...
  24. Doesn't matter... Another saved penalty in this Napoli/Milan game...
