  1. In what way does that make us a sack of shit? Who are the 8 players?Selling to buy again that is shite penny pinching all the time we are a total car crash Isn't that just common sense after what we've been through the last few years? Somebody complained yesterday about us signing more dud players for the new owners to have to move on. Dammed if they do, etc etc. Disclaimer - generally I am not pleased with where we are as a club. I think that was me and it wasn't a complaint. I acknowledged that we needed to bring players in but expressed a concern that we were just creating problems for whoever comes in next. So what should Lambert be doing planning for the NEXT manager? One of the reason we got into this mess was MON buying and not using players and keeping them around draining the club. We seem to have a wage limit in place and it's only right that it's kept to. If we shifted those players it'd create a big chunk of wages to be able to use on players who may actually play and better the team.
  2. It's funny how people moan about Senderos and Richardson yet wanted the older slower Hangeland who was the stalwart of the worst defence in the league!
  3. I don't think he's particularity good, no. He's alright. He will have a few good games and he will have plenty of shockers too. Better than Luna and Bennett....but that's not saying much really. Fair enough. So we're not assembling an "awful" squad then. We're assembling an "alright" one? No I think we're assembling an awful squad. As I said in my previous post, I think we're going to really struggle next season, I don't think the signings we've made have improved us much at all, if at all. I think if you look at our squad, it's extremely poor. Signing Richardson doesn't change that. Our squad depth isn't the best hence the recent additions but the 1st team IMO is top 10 at the minute.
  4. Well even though I think you're wages are out how do you know the timescale of the budget? Never mind how do you know the budget. Now I know on FM you can move you kitty about but I'm not sure if that's the case in real life. We may have wage bill ceiling hence Lambert wanting to get rid of a few but that's common sense. By your logic if we had a player on £50k a week with. 4 years left and sold him for £5m we'd have £15m to spend so I doubt if that's the way it works! I've no idea what the kitty is our how it's likely to be spent but ultimately we have signed 2 players and hopefully a 3rd who will improve our squad ill let Lambert worry about the money.
  5. So far all the signings have been an improvement on what was here before. Senderos will be 3rd choice and I think Cole and Richardson if he signs will be 1st team or there abouts. Hopefully Lambert is keeping the bulk of any transfer pot back for the important positions of DM/CM and another creative player.
  6. keeping Vlaar could be worth £40m+'to us as that could be the difference between staying up and going down. As stated the time remaining doesn't have that great affect these days as Barry and Young showed. If he wanted to go I'd want at least £12-15m as that's how much a replacement would be. Lovren is being touted for £20m and Ron has been one of the stand out CB in the WC. I hope he signs and believe he will because as shown time and again we only sell on our terms or not at all. Barry Young Benteke show this to be the case.
  7. He's not the first and won't be the last player to suffer 2nd season syndrome. There's a very good footballer there whether he's a very good RB is a different question!
  8. Who are these wingers of which you refer to? Grealish, Graham, Bacuna etc. I forgot about bacuna to be honest but the other 2 are untried kids, they are both talented players but I don't think they can be relied upon at this stage I wouldn't call Bacuna a winger either!
  9. I think he's still finding his best position. He's playing more centrally now but I'd expect him to start wide to get up to speed then move in once he's done that. He's got tons of ability but as with Gardner needs to step up. Our youth seem very unlucky with injuries!!
  10. Bent is a goal poacher who doesn't offer anything outside the box. He will score if there's a supply line but we don't have any wingers at the moment to do that so he'll be useless to us.
  11. There is an interview on Youtube where Mcleish is on Goals on Sunday saying how close he was to signing Bale but I am pretty sure it was total bullshit. I read Redknapp's book and he said he has no interest in letting Bale go what so ever. They are both massive cocks but I believe 'Arry on this one. I agree that they're both massive cocks but Redknapp said Gerrard asked him on the phone to be England manager to which Gerrard said it was a load of bollocks!! 2 massive egomaniacs! Is it time for the Milner rumour yet?
  12. How do you know a Robin Russell has no experience dealing with agents and contracts? Faulkner isn't a one man band. If I'm right contracts were signed and agents dealt with whilst Faulkner was at the WC with the FA?? We would have a whole host of people who who are involved in these types of dealings. Would it be an issue if we wasn't up for sale? Robin Russell has been at the club for years and worked alongside Faulkner so i'd say he has been involved in plenty of deals.
  13. Does the last 4 years wipe out the previous ones? I don't remember any condescending voices when Lerner was spending heavily. Now I've a hypothetical for you. The wage bill is now down to a sustainable level IF Lerner decided not to sell and backed Lambert as he did MON with a CEO running both the financial and football side of things properly. ie not letting the wage bill get out of control again would people be adverse to him staying? I for one wouldn't mind. I don't care if he doesn't set foot in VP as long as the club is run properly with results to match his no appearance is only an issue when we are doing badly so for this reason a string CEO would be needed so as not to seem rudderless. We'll probably be sold on the morning now anyway!!
  14. If you're bored tomorrow can you see who's had the most top, half finishes then got relegated the following year? It's probably got the same significance!!
  15. People read into things all the time. It's as clear as it can be. If he said he'd changed his mind and was not selling and was fully committed etc people would still come up with a differing theory. He can't win. What would you want him to say? Nothing? That would still get people talking. I'm happy he's come out and made a statement read into it what you will. The only time it will be fully clarified is once it's sold which I believe is said in the statement.
  16. Can I expect to see you facing the crowd with a megaphone not watching the game in future then? Our crowds are better because it isn't regimented. Go the pub have a few then sing like it's an away game. Job done.
  17. Has he backed Lambert much in previous summers? I've no idea about the amount spent but if you're asking has he backed him in bringing in players I think it's safe to say that's a yes!! 5+ every summer. This year if he buys 2/3 at twice the quality we'll be fine. When Lambert has spent over £3m he's brought in quality.
  18. Just a question regarding Brigada. Why model yourselves on European support when English support has always been better? Displays look good but I think an old fashioned sing song with songs known to more than just your members is more beneficial. I've only sat in the Holte once next year and the repetitive hand clapping never created any sort of atmosphere apart from your group. It may have been a bad day and without going all,in my day on you. We used to have the back of the. Holte and the bottom right who sang the same songs which then sparked the rest of the ground. Even the trinity used to get going on big games. In essence keep the displays but sing songs that the rest of the ground know.
  19. It also says he committed to Lambert not to let sale business affect the football side and today is the first day back so he's showing he kept his word. Perhaps to try and put an end to some of the utter drivel that has been posted on here and other sites plus Twitter claiming various deals were close or even done. Only 24 hours ago we had claims that Merson had revealed details of a secret sale in a pub but seemingly not told his employers Sky. At least this statement tells people there is nothing on the cards sale wise so we will hopefully get a break from the nonsense that has been flowing for the last 8 weeks about various billionaires who's names have just been plucked from Google. I'm about as far from being a defender of Randy Lerner as you can get but at least this statement is an attempt at some honest communication with the fans, even if like the last two statements it is written in a way that is far from clear. No deal is close, no deal is going to happen before the start of the season. At least people know where we are and what is happening in the immediate future, ie nothing. It's a shame I can only like this the once. Spot on IMO
  20. Every statement that's been made has meant exactly what it said. Crazy eh!!! No subtext no smoke screens nothing. I expect people to still interpret it to there way of thinking be it positive and negative. I also expect people to moan that even though they wanted updates this isn't the update they wanted. It's the same when we buy players. Hopefully this means Lambert can carry on as before ( not result wise) and renew contracts and bring in a few players. We know there isn't a fortune to be spent but with 2/3 good buys we will be set.
  21. Damned if you do damned if you don't!! The proof will be in the signings but if Lerner doesn't say anything everybody would be moaning about what's going on. He has now told us where we are at. It's exactly the statement I was expecting and I believe he will back Lambert as previous summers. What more can he say though?
  22. But he is a free now so City have no say over where he goes. The article says because he was loaned out to Everton last year if he joins them Everton have to pay City 2m as that was part of the deal I'd give Barry the top wages we are allowed if that's for eg £25k give him a signing on fee out the transfer fund to make up any shortfall on the wages he wanted. Or even give if he wants a 2 year £50k deal give him 3/4 years at £25k I know that's what we did with Given but Barry is 33 will play nearly every game and has a history here with roots. I can see him becoming a coach when he retires.
  23. I'd love to read more into it but it's only 6 more days! I think a lot of clubs will do stuff once the WC players return from their extended breaks and that may drip down to us. There's the annual link to Kiyo but not much else I think we'll have to wait for the bog clubs to fill their squads then try to loan the leftovers.
  24. If we was secretly sold it wouldn't make sense to wait until after the transfer window before announcing and if we started bidding for players of a certain standard that would raise a red flag. The quicker a sale was announced would benefit all involved Lerner, New owner, Players and most importantly an apathetic fan base. A sale would rejuvenate the club and fans immediately (apart from the eternally pessimistic) and the buzz would feed ST sales etc. for me it s non starter any hidden sale would be better served announced before the season starts otherwise you'd question the owners football, and business nous immediately.
  25. In fact, the USA do well because they have good players. I made this comment on the back of players like Bradley not being good enough for Villa and Beasley not being much cop at Rangers. That would suggest otherwise. I have been impressed with them at this World Cup though. Bradley wasn't given a fair crack here and has done well at all the other clubs he's been at. Some players do raise there games for their country more so than English players do but they are still good players initially. That's why it's dangerous to buy players who stand out at a WC. Roberto Martinez said there's no surprise players these days because of the extent of scouting so some of these May be unknown to us but probably not to managers. I'd like to think that's the same for Lambert.
