  1. I'd take Lescott on loan and hopefully permanently. People say Okore will be our 1st choice but forget that even though he looked good he has hardly played is only 21 so we shouldn't heap too much pressure on him. Also I don't think Baker and Clark are good enough hopefully I'm wrong but how long do you give them. A window of Lescott Hoolahan and Defour would be good I'd like a winger/wide midfielder aswell Ince Or Holtby but that's too much wishful thinking!
  2. If we had picked up more points at home especially Palace I doubt there would be as much animosity but add that result to the other performances it's wore a lot of people down. Regarding your points it's exactly what I thought would happen but after the way we ended and started this season I thought we'd be playing a lot better stuff now. Hopefully Lambert gets who he wants early on so we can get a bit of hope down VP. I don't want to change managers as we need stability but we need progress to go alongside it and we've slipped quite a bit recently. Great post though. UTV
  3. I hope it's true and he has targets lined up as we need them ASAP interesting that it names 3 positions aswell. I'd like CB cover and a DM aswell though!
  4. I wonder how long it takes for a journo to read this and put out a scoop!! It's not official by a long way and the price if true would probably mean a profit. So just like my house isn't for sale if you offer me more than it's worth it is! Common sense really but that's not official.
  5. As a CEO Faulkner is doing a good job our improving revenue shows this. He also came in at a time when the wage bill was out of control and was set a target of getting us sustainable also on target but bringing it back to Lambert as that's the thread IMO our next 2 transfer windows will say a lot about him our CEO our Chairman and our Club as the excuse of the wage bill will have gone. We won't be starting from scratch with a new manager (hopefully) which some seem to think is always the answer if then we aren't moving in the right direction then will be time to question the people in charge. I have faith in lambert after the 2nd half of last season. I like his ideas for the club I just don't see it on the pitch at the moment. Ohh what a win against Man UTD would do to this season this team and this thread!!
  6. Today was crap no bones about it but putting thing into perspective injuries are affecting us at the minute. Whether that be players missing or players returning not in form. It shows we need to increase the squad still further and that has been the main problem we have had to strip it back and build up a squad from scratch virtually hopefully with the nucleus in place the amount of additions will come down but the quality will go up. Ultimately we are 10th and look like we will finish there or there abouts which will be progress in points if not in performance we all want free flowing winning football but it's harder to get than it sounds. Call for Lamberts head all you want but we are progressing maybe not as fast as some like but we are. Time will tell if he can take us much further and the next 2 transfer windows are massive for the team squad development. I just hope the people who moan about performances remain positive enough they don't join the moaning for moining sake contingent.
  7. It amazes me 7 years after Doug Ellis has gone people still go on about his time here. If you take just the Premier League years you don't do his time here justice!! Just like taking Lerners last 3 years as basis for judging him. Lerner has made mistakes and is hopefully rectifying them. Whilst MON time here was good it wasn't sustainable unless you get instant success. IMO Houllier was a good appointment unfortunately health issues came back to haunt him. The next bloke was a joke now I think he has hired a man who understands we need to build a club not just a team. For me the only real mistake was McLeish the others like letting the wage bill get out of control was a gamble which didn't pay off but I think we all enjoyed it at the time. Looking forward next summer is when you can start criticising IMO as wage bill will be sorted a basic squad in place so we will need bigger and better players. It will be a watershed summer as both Lambert and Lerner won't have any excuses. By the way it took Ellis 14 years to get to a final. Lerner did it in 4. In that 14 years he dismantled a club that won the European Cup. He also appointed Billy McNeill and Dr Jo. Enough said
  8. Getting a striker who was top scorer in the Europa League can't be too bad considering he out scored Cardoza Cavani and Torres. Up until now Lambert has been pretty much spot on with his transfers so I have faith. I'd still like the elusive creative midfielder. Last year we signed a 7m striker and a 1m midfielder and they've done ok!!
  9. Paul McGrath made a good team brilliant thats the mark of greatness.
  10. How many people renewed because of the £295 deal? Obviously this was to try to drum up numbers early as to disguise the dwindling overall numbers. I believe the current floating fan is lost thats why our attendances our dropping as a current ST holder soon to be a floating fan how long will it be before i and many others completely stop? There is more football than ever on TV kids have more to do than ever the only thing that keeps you going to VP is the passion and when thats gone its gone. No Direction No Future
  11. I keep thinking of this post by MM, Absolutely terrifying. Shit I never saw that. When did he say that? Protests need to happen on Sat I think Saturday will be the watershed whether you like him or not MON got us a certain amount of success and if he beats us the anger will flow towards a manager who has divided the club like no other. A defeat might actually unite us all again MCLEISH OUT. I also hate MON for the way he left us just before the start of the season regardless of the reason. Saturday will not be an enjoyable day. UTV
  12. Dean Saunders the first time i could remember us getting a player in there prime from a so called big club a definite show of intent and so it turned out to be.
  13. Where are you getting your stats from, Trent? The BBC web site tells a slightly different story. It seems possesion stats vary from site to site http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/match/2012/mar/10/aston-villa-v-fulham It's hard to argue that we didn't dominate this game and in the end got a deserved win. Im pretty sure our last few game stats tell a similar story, negative teams for me don't have 20 attempts on goal. Next people will be saying they were all with 10 men behind the ball!
  14. I know. All I'm saying is that early goal altered the whole dynamic of the game Conceding a second 30 secs into the 2nd half did little to help So let me get this right goals change games?? Cheers Any chance you could phone McLeish and inform him of this preferably with us doing the scoring
  15. it might have got me excited if i never had to google him. there's been a few good aussie's in the prem just hope he is one.
  16. A lot seems to be being made of a last minute win against Fulham, a win is a win but it shouldn't be blown out of preportion. Fulham's record at Villa Park is terrible yet it took 93 min to sneak the win. We looked in control for most of the game but didn't create much and this is the underlying problem. After 3/4 of the seaon gone we should be seeing a style of play with at least a plan for the future showing. Last year under Houllier you could see us trying to pass the ball more this year i don't see any improvement. Losing Bent has meant Gabby is upfront and he holds the ball up better. Dunne being injured meant Carlos has come in and we look more solid and the ball is staying on the floor a bit more. McLeish can't really take credit for those decisions as when he had the options he never did it. I think the team spirit we saw after the goal was that more of relief than anything else as after Bolton we hit a run that if we went into with no confidence we could easily lose them all. Hopefully we beat Bolton so i can relax we will still be in the Prem next year but if we don't get over 40 points McLeish should go as that is terrible for a club like us. I would love to be wrong but i haven't seen anything to make me think McLeish has it in him to get us where we want to go. UTV
  17. There is no compaison with the player situations that both men inherited. McLeish inherited some long in the tooth professionals, a long way into big contracts, most of which won't be renewed, and some of whom had practiced 'player power' during the previous manager's short tenure. O'Neill inherited a squad nine of whom had only been at the club a few short months, early in their contracts, and quite eager to make an impression at the club that they had tied themself to for the foreseeable future. One manager inherited a nightmare, the other a dream, which is why he took the job. And the reason we have some long in the tooth professionals a long way into big contracts is MON. I'm no fan of Mcleish but one thing he has is the balls to go into a crap situation and try to do a good job. I don't believe he is good enough as our performances have shown but MON walked away when confronted with the situation we are now in. He has gone somewhere where the times right for him and he can keep his reputation intact. Sunderland are Villa circa 2006 so i guess in 2016 he will be off. UTV
  18. We will be Macrons premiership jewel so hopefully they will throw all there marketing and distribution behind us to get us into Sports shops globally. For Nike we were an after thought with certain shops getting our tops to keep to contractual agreements. Hopefully macron will use us as there way in to a lot more retailers. With Genting as our sponsor we have a higher profile name in Asia so hopefully this will open doors for Macron but ultimately it's what we do on the pitch that counts and in the short term it provided the best deal. long term we will wait and see UTV
  19. I think the stand holds 4300 and normally you can pay on the day, i think we will fill it.
  20. Nothing that i've seen on past performances or his track record make me believe he can make us better. UTV
  21. I think protesting will be pointless as in the Ellis years and with the cameras there make us a laughing stock. I'm going to put £5 on Mcleish for the England job it only takes a small amount of money to change the odds so put a £1 on and if enough people do it he will be one of the favourites before long....i know he will never get it but thats the point. Sky will have to mention him time and again over the next few weeks and this would send more of a message than a couple of hundred people and a banner. Mcleish for England?? Stranger things have happened!!!!!!!!!!
  22. People are moaning about quality my mates got a Braga top made by macron and its just as good as you'll get. They are a dedicated sporting brand with us as there big name. Unlike Nike who are a fashion brand and we are just another team. This deal is the best we could get financially and hopefully it will lead to a long term partnership.
  23. hahahahahahah that sounds like bullshit. It came from a player so believe it or not. Watch the game and see how many times keane is going mad at not getting the ball. And have you ever seen Petrov play? his favourite ball is sideways. I get mad watching him so imagine someone like keane who is always looking for little passes.
  24. I've heard that Keane and Petrov squared up after the game on Sunday because Petrov doesn't pass the ball forward enough. Keane was making runs and not getting the ball. Having 2 non creative CM while do this. He needs to go back to being the screen in front of the back four and let Gardner do the box to box stuff. Only AM thinks he can be the player Celtic had!!
