Not pretty but a deserved win and the points are what count . need to win these 2 home games now and close that gap - we could start new year in touching distance of the top 6 . merry Christmas all and here's to a successful 2017

Really sorry for gollini as I think he deserves more faith - bunn is a shocking keeper . would have liked to see grealish start too and tish still not in the 18 . Good to see McCormack and baker back

Until the Norwich game we weren't doing too badly on a run of results but that was a massive blow to not only lose but perform in such a dreadful way - tomorrow will show us whether we can bounce back and move forward - a repeat of last Tuesday cannot be tolerated.

The one thing for sure is we can kiss automatic goodbye after Newcastle and Brightons wins .

Pressure comes with playing for a big club like Aston Villa - these players must be able to handle it and the expectations at this club - a far cry from the likes of Bristol city or Fulham . When big clubs slide they tumble fast but also as Steve round said if we get this club moving in the right direction we will take some stopping . Confidence is huge and now is the time we will see if Bruce's strong words have hit home .

But what If we lost to qpr and then beat burton , Leeds and Cardiff ? Then it would be far from over - we are not yet halfway and it's too soon to write off our hopes even if we lose tomorrow . Barnsley were 24th and bottom last Christmas and still won promotion - there's still a long long way to go .

I think if we did go up this season then we would need almost a completely new team in the Premiership - the money may well be provided to do so but it would take time to gel . i wouldn't expect us to be in this division after next season at worst and am intrigued to see the players Bruce brings into the club in the meantime .

Don't think we have won on sky for a couple of years - dreadful record .

Much will depend on our transfer activity in January as Bruce surely knows where the side needs improving - a good festive period will see us in touching distance but I agree there has been a lack of passion and fight in some and hopefully the team selection tomorrow will reflect that . mccormack and tish must both start .

Plenty of time yet - we are not even halfway through and a good points haul over the festive period will see us back within touching distance - far too soon to write off our chances irrespective of what happens tomorrow . i see no reason why we can't take 10 points from the next 4 games .

I don't think it's rocket silence to see that kodija is better in the centre than on the wing or that Ross offers far more than gabby- I like bruce but he has badly misread the gabby situation and needs to realise that it's time to forget gabby . i think Bruce will make several changes at qpr and give others the chance to show what they can offer - it's down to them to take their chance .

Not sure what the instructions were but Bruce made the wrong team selections again last night - tish and McCormack should have started ahead of Westwood and gabby and kodija should have been central not wide . granted the team were awful but Bruce must take the blame equally for his team selection.

Probably wanted to bring in their own choice and a so called well known name - rumoured to gianfranco zola - amazingly poor decision .

Not so much his goals but he is a good link up player and creates for others too as well as being good on set pieces - offers far more than ayew .

Terminate his contract even if it means paying him off - he should not be in or around this football club - GET RID !

McCormack has to start games , for me in a role just behind kodija who must play as a central striker not be wasted out wide - time to jettison gabby and ayew who are both a waste of space.

Think he suffered a long term injury in the summer . As for the play offs I think derby would pose us the most problem but plenty of things could happen before May and there is still hope of automatic .

Seems Bruce is busy on targets already and has a couple lined up - how many loans are we allowed ? Jenkinson the right back from arsenal and the young united keeper Johnston both being strongly linked to us today on loan .

Rdm did make some decent signings but he no clue how to use them - Bruce has built a good backroom team as well and when he has signed some of his own players we can really push onwards.

Flashy in areas outside the final third but when it comes to his final ball he is poor - offers little and a luxury player we cannot persevere with as delivers so rarely

If we'd won at Leeds last week we'd be 5th too - even allowing for our start of one win in 12 games . this league is very tight and a run of wins will take us away from the pack
