  1. I'm pretty sure that I've heard a few people talking about how Atletico needs to sell because of financial problems (similar to Barca with the La Liga FFP rules). Makes me think that most players are available to sign
  2. Remains Saturday Feb 18 Kick off at 12:30 pm
  3. outside of maybe Brazil, I think most PL sides would beat almost all national teams. There's just a lot more coaching and training times for club teams
  4. yep it was Engles in the 2nd Bournemouth game our first season back in the PL. Think it was a game at the end of January? Pretty sure he was knocked out
  5. I imagine that a vast majority of current ex-pro media members would not be able to cope with the top-level demands that are required in today's game. I think that influences the way which some of them provide insight.
  6. Our owners are going to strive for the top but we are going to be facing clubs with a lot more money to spend and sway for top players to sign. I'd say 4 of the scum 6 would take a 20+ goal striker. The other thing I would say is that tactically, a lot of those goal poachers of decades ago will not be able to fit in with what many managers require from players. I chose the term mythical because every fan of most clubs is after this almost every summer but there are only three players that realistically fit this criterion that every club in the world would want. it's *that* rare
  7. there's barely enough 20+ goal strikers for teams competing at the very top of the League and in Europe. I think that frankly that's unrealistic. The game has also changed where goals are spread out quite more evenly now as @Delphinho123said. I also made a post this summer with showing the clear shortage of top-quality strikers in the league atm. Outside of City & Spurs with Haaland & Kane, almost every team in the league is looking for this mythical 20 goal striker
  8. that was with our current team, which Carlos is injured. Now, you & I will not have an idea how quickly Carlos will recover / will he return at his peak, so we can't really answer that question. I would figure we would try and integrate all of them in a way
  9. Funnily enough, the work permit points system changed with Brexit so that pretty much any player in the Brazilian Série A or the Argentine Primera División would have enough points to qualify for a WP especially if their club plays in one of the continental competitions.
  10. if we are going with our current lineup, I think it would be Torres in for Konsa, which would probably be harsh on Ezri.
  11. cannot agree more strongly with this. there is a ton of untapped quality in both the Argentine & Brazilian leagues, we have to get better at scouting these leagues for high quality youngsters who have the ability to make an impact with the first team squad.
  12. I think this is really the point to hammer home. We all (or a majority of us on this board) have beliefs & a structure that is really common around the western world - me included obviously. democratic ideas, human rights for everyone (LGBTQ+, Women, Minorities), etc are things that most of us would think are basic fundamental rights for everyone. A majority of the rest of the world has differing opinions on these topics and, with FIFA, every federation gets a say/vote. In the world, I'd say there are about maybe 10-15 countries that would check: having the facilities to host the tournament, having good human rights records, having the money and supplies to host, & having the willingness to host said event.
  13. the defense is probably the weakest part of both sides and yet neither manager is really showing any attacking intent
  14. makes sense, BUT whoever is buying Manchester United will at somepoint within the next decade complete massive upgrades to Old Trafford or completely build another stadium. I assume they can take the debt for that on, but wouldn't they already have to pay off the debt already owed to others?
  15. at least the ref was showing consistency -- ruling out the first goal for a "soft foul" and giving that as a pen for a "soft foul" and that's never getting overturned as there is contact. I do want to know why that type of pen that Ronaldo scored isn't seen more. A ton of pace and not on the ground -- the 2 earlier that were saved seemed to be pretty poor.
  16. I agree with @KMitchthat if we were to go after a US player, Reyna’s the guy to get. Would’ve said paxten aaronson but he just got a move to Frankfurt
  17. He was interviewed on the most recent 2 robbies podcast to talk about his new project podcast My New Favorite Futbolista. He also talks a bit about when he joined us and the WC & the PL season this year with a bit of talk about us this season. Worth a listen if you have 25 minutes
  18. I mentioned it briefly, as I do teach history (and some of them have an idea already). Also, that I am in the US and its American kids who are asking to watch it shows the growth of the game
  19. My students asked me to put on the games. Find it very interesting how interested they are in the WC
