  1. the villa end! quote from H&V: ...so the remaining 1500 tickets will be available on the day. great news and looks like common sense has prevailed!
  2. where did i hear what? 1,010 for forest was listed on the o/s, 3500 have been sold according to forest's twitter account. i don't know how many we've sold for this game but if previous pre-seasons are anything to go by - and indeed our friendlies so far this summer - then i think it's pretty obvious that we won't have failed to sell the mere 591 allocation.
  3. do not, under any circumstances, use the a453. villa fans coming from birmingham; ignore your sat-navs and stay on past j24 (the a453) for one more junction and get off at j25, following the a52(brian clough way) into nottingham. the a453 is a single carriageway and is possibly the worst road in the east midlands. each time i've had the misfortune of using it, i've been stuck in traffic for a minimum of an hour and a half. and that's normal every day traffic, no accidents. it's a joke of a road and if you don't miss the game, you'll certainly miss out on a lot of drinking time.
  4. if you naively trust what the avfc ticket page tells you, then yeah. they were still listing our allocation for forest as an initial allocation of 1,010 yesterday despite the fact we'd sold over 3000 tickets, and today sold out of an allocation of 3500. no chance we'll have only sold 500 odd tickets for this one.
  5. Different game ? He's referring to the 1-2 Win we had against West Spam away, when Gabby scored a late winner. Half the players ran left of the goal to celebrate in a clump and a few others ran infront of the away fans and just wen't absolutely mental, Gabby was one of them. If anyone can find a good vid of that Gabby goal against west ham and his celebration post it here! no he wasn't. gabby ran to the touchline bizarrely and was one of those in a clump on the floor. young celebrated right infront of the away end.
  6. no need for a bus. follow the sign for trams and you'll find yourself on station street. follow the stream of claret & blue along station street, past jury's inn & the capital one building, then down london road towards the ground. 20 minute walk. imagine there will be villa fans in hooters (5 mins from station) and i know notts county open up their bar for away fans during a league campaign. not sure whether they will for a friendly. was pretty poor in there for a burnley away game i went to but then burnley only took a few hundred. unsure if there are any other away pubs. always thought of it as being mainly home around the ground, with away fans drinking closer to the centre. perhaps Trent can shed some light..?
  7. i've been in the away end with burnley twice. and in the home end for a couple of games. haven't got my tickets to hand right now to see what row i've been in before but you'll be fine in row V. the lower tier's not particularly deep so even if V is towards the back, you certainly won't be in the heavens. i've stood on the back couple of rows the first time i went with burnley and the only problem you might have is if you're 6ft+ in which case the netting that hangs off the tier above can obstruct your view slightly. hope that helps!
  8. just rang the ticket office to get tickets for this. talked to a lovely lady who said there were only 60 tickets remaining for the game out of the allocation we've currently got. i then asked her to confirm what our allocation was for the game and how many we'd sold. she told me we could have anything up to 5000, and that so far we'd sold 2730 tickets. so a brilliant following as ever! can see us having around 4000 there. what a day that will be.
  9. it's the full allocation for a league game. 10% or 3000 (give or take a few for issues of segregation). i just hope it really is the 2900 this time. the villa ticket office told us we'd taken the 2900 allocation for the april 2011 game but it became apparent when inside the away end that we'd only actually got the 2200 allocation. anyway, great away day, looking forward to it.
  10. no it isn't. our game with forest is the 4th, this one is indeed the 11th. league cup games are always midweek. unless otherwise agreed as the OP stated.
  11. not any more he isn't. martin shaw, august 2010. turncoat.
  12. Does anyone know if this is true and if so why? Too pissed? Fighting? Lairy? All of the above? i would like to know this, too. i know for a fact that hutton and collins are good friends and are always out together in brum. just the other week they were in solihull, slagging off the club and telling a friend of my brother's that "villa fans need to lower their expectations". what? the expectation to stay in the premier league and perhaps watch a little bit of exciting football every now and then? rocket polishers.
  13. my facebook status: i'd just like to take this opportunity to send a big '**** off' to alex ferguson from all at aston villa, for recommending alex mcleish to randy lerner. on a night when all you needed was a draw, perhaps you should've given mcleish a ring..? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
  14. probably not. it wasn't when we played them last season.
  15. conclusions from the game: exciting, attacking football from the youngsters. and yet we're still in the shit. lee mason is a chelsea fan. chelsea fans are classless words removed. villa fans are **** retarded. applauding cahill onto the field? clueless. enjoyed the tributes to stan. get well soon captain fantastic.
  16. are people aware that for this we'll be housed in north stand tier 3, rather than the usual away end? united are trialling it as the new away end. the tier holds roughly 4000 so we'll have half of it.
  17. so are we sure this is pretty much sold out then? excellent support if so, at 30 quid a ticket. and when we're this shit. i ask because the ticket office told us we'd sold out of the 1800 initial allocation for newcastle. and then we turned up and there wouldn't have been more than 1300 there! also, there was never 3700 in that end at wigan yesterday. that was 5000! only empty seats were a small block nearest wigan's singing fans. cracking support again.
  18. Ah, the old classic midweek night out in Preston. As you do ;-) class mate! been once before, can't wait for the three floored Lava again. Whilst this could be better in Off Topic, I think your problem is staying overnight!! Couldn't get Newcastle cheaper than £90, whereas for Sunderland we had it well below £50!! As for your Wigan split, would it not be cheaper to get Nottingham > Stockport, Stockport > Wigan Wallgate? cheers mate, hadn't thought of that. can get a couple of quid off doing it that way! and yeah, i think you're right about staying overnight. gonna just have to take the hit.
  19. i'm always splitting journeys and fares. must have saved hundreds over the past couple of seasons. national rail suggest i go nottingham > derby > crewe > wigan north western at a cost of £30. i'll be doing nottingham > manchester piccadilly and then manchester piccadilly > salford crescent > wigan wallgate at a cost of less than £15. also going to preston on wednesday for a night out but can't seem to get it below £30 despite it being a similar journey to wigan, what with using manchester piccadilly and starting from nottingham. if anyone has any suggestions, it'd be much appreciated!! leaving 1445 on the weds, coming back 0830 ( to get back for a seminar :/ ) on the thursday.

    Pubs

see you there nice and early! utv.
  21. he's **** useless that fella. thick as shit like most coppers. it's on blackburn road. not bolton road. it's in darwen. not darwin. and it's the anchor hotel. not pub. and surely the the golden cup would be the better option under the m65? a lot closer and always lots of villa outside. the anchor's miles away.
  22. WOW! Though I'd say the upper Holte being standing is probably a non starter. Not sure the split but I'd say there's a more seats downstairs, 7k perhaps, so maybe an increase of 7k in the stand. So 14k roughly lower Holte & 6k seated upper. Cool, that would be almost the same capacity permitted for the old terrace in 94 @ 19k I believe? if we're going by the german model, using rail seats, the increase in spectators is of a factor 1.8 to 1. not 2 to 1. in other words, a row of five seats can house 9 standing supporters, a row of ten seats can house 18 standing supporters, etc.
