  1. After seeing this thread, I've spent the whole morning reading about the bombings having not really known much about it before. I was shocked to read that a bomb that didn't detonate was planted on the Hagley Road, literally outside my work I've just been reading this account of one of the fire fighters that night http://birmingham999.co.uk/ (...erm...it's a pretty short link anyway..) I always find it heart warming how people pull together and help each other out in situations like this, putting their own safety at risk. I also find comfort in the fact good people far outweigh the amount of evil people on this planet
  2. Yes, to a certain degree. Obviously you don't understand how this works, so let me explain. COD IS the best selling franchise in ANY mode of entertainment. That means it makes the most money. EA like money (online pass for 2nd hand gamers?), so they wanted to take some of the fans from COD and turn them to battlefield lovers, y'know, so they can make more money? Why do you think they released it a mere 2 weeks before COD? BF3's damage model is higher than any other BF, to try and make it similar to COD. The conquest maps on BF3, are smaller than on previous BFs (not including bad companies), this is so COD players dont think 'I havent seen anyone for 5 seconds, IM BORED!'. They even created a squad deathmatch, which takes a small area of a conquest map, and shoves 24 players into it. So yea, in some aspects, they have tried to copy COD, just to cater for players who EA hope to make the switch between the two games. Glad I could clear that up for ya. As I said, I play this with my online friends, I do enjoy it to a certain degree, but its exactly the same as all the other games. You've only played COD since BLOPS, this is still probably pretty new and exciting to you. But having had COD4, MW2, BLOPS and this, I'm telling you it hasn't changed for 6 years. I'm not hammering the game because I think its mega shit, I'm hammering the game because I want the developers to get off their lazy arses and earn their £45 from each of us gamers. I think some on here think I want to hate this game, just for being a COD, it's just not the case. I'd love to enjoy it, but I cant, because its just so old and samey. If you dont mind playing the same game over and over, fair play, I'll just stick to something with a bit more variation and vastness to it. But you moaned about how shit it would be, then paid the £45 and now you're moaning how shit it is. There's a simple solution here lol

  4. I think that's a fair point. Credit where credit is due, whatever McLeish is doing with Gabby he's definitely getting the very best out of him
  5. I really wish I was going to this. Spending the day in London and getting merry. I like to be specific with my predicitions so here goes. Darren Bent scores first on 26 minutes, assist from N'Zogbia. Villa lead at HT 1-0. Van der Vaart 49mins, assist from Lennon. Gabby dissallowed goal for offside on 75mins would you believe! He wasn't even offside! Ruddy hell. Dunne brings down Defoe in the box...penalty! Defoe puts it away on the 87min. FT 2-1 Spurs Bet ya
  6. You've still managed to squeeze in 6 hours of gameplay though :winkold:
  7. One drink driving offence does not put him in the same basket as Joey Barton. Agreed. He's made a really stupid mistake which he has been punished for and hopefully he realises what the consequences could have been; on the road and to his career. That's the end of it for me, everybody should have a second chance
  8. agreed, not good enough If Bannan isn't a prime example of our fantastic youth academy I don't know who is
  9. Lesson learned the hard way fella. I used to be the same. In the end you realise people will trample all over you to get to the top. Next time be a bastard, tell them the wrong questions! :winkold: You're right, ;esson learned. I should have told them the wrong questions, I didn't think of that. That would have been easier than telling them where to go at least
  10. The fact that I was first out of my colleagues on both stages of some recent internal job interviews and they all came asking me questions about what was asked and wanted to see my notes. I'm more pissed off with myself for being too much of a pushover and being too nice to say no. It didn't annoy me until after when I realised I'd been taken for a mug
  11. I wish I'd gone, I bet it was amazing. Fairground still reminds me of when I was a kid, the hot summer of '95, my mum making Sunday dinner in the kitchen and singing 'AND I LOVE THE THOUGHT...' at the top of her voice. People just don't understand Laura, they just don't understand
  12. Elbow - An Audience With The Pope NOFX - The Idiot's Are Taking Over The Beatles - She Came In Through The Bathroom Window Nirvana - Hairspray Queen David Bowie - Life On Mars I'm lucky, that was a pretty good shuffle. It avoided all the embarrassing stuff, like Simply Red, The Spice Girls, Cyndi Lauper and The Oliver Soundtrack. Now no-one will ever know. Phew! Oh Wait...
  13. I've only skimmed this thread, so I'm SURE somebody has mentioned this...but why are people still debating this? I'm pretty sure nobody has ever changed their opinion on religion by discussing it on an internet forum. It's just painful
  14. And you were shocked at Paddywhack saying he was good with his hands. Seems he has made an offer there you may want to take him up on :winkold: Oh man, I'm always getting myself in these situations. People misinterpret something I've said, I'm too polite to correct them. Next thing I know I'm being drawn by a sketch artist in court. Still, beats staying in on the weekend
  15. I was gonna reply with the winky face, but I think that would make things worse I'll use this one, never used it before
  16. So it's here again. I have nothing planned, nothing at all. I hate international breaks. The mrs does her uni studying thing all day Saturday and works Sunday. I want a project of some sort, something fun I can look forward to. Heaven forbid my laptop ever broke or I ran out of tissues Any suggestions? What you all up to? Do you need a hand? I'm good with my hands
  17. I was really hoping to see Bent and Gabby lead the line for England tomorrow, I'm gutted. I agree Villa comes first though, so aslong as he's back and ready for Spurs I'm not moaning. And yeah, it does seem strange he keeps pulling out Actually scratch that, if the tabloids are to be believed, he never pulls out..
  18. players on their way up, rather than on their way down. agree Like Shorey & Davies? Transfers can be hit and miss wherever they're from. I don't think we can just say 'Don't buy players that aren't playing for clubs that are currently higher than us!' What if Milner wasn't playing for City? I'd want him back if he wanted to come. Each transfer should be judged on the player and the situation they are in. You have listed a couple of "on the ups" (to use TRO's phrase) that haven't worked. I could counter with Young and Downing. Do you have any "on the downs" to counter my list? Shay Given and Richard Dunne. Rob's spot on. So what clubs shouldn't we buy from, the top 6? Because their players will be rubbish automatically? Seems like a daft rule to me
  19. Agree with that, apart from Bent. He scored 19 for me Given gets poor very fast. I might be wrong but Goalkeepers don't seem to be able to play into their late 30's like in real life, their stats always rapidly decrease
  20. I wouldn't worry, I finished 5th with Villa and got the sack. That was 2 days after Krulak took charge at the club
  21. I think it's worth getting, but then again, I'm a sucker and would probably always buy it. Have done every year for about 12 years. From memory, I think the change between this one and FM2011 is the least amount of change I've ever seen, although this years seems really easy. I'm second in January my first season with little effort. Sorry, I don't know about steam, don't understand it
  22. I agree he is talented but the not being able to explain a trick doesn't really bother me, because it obviously is a trick and isn't impossible. I can't explain what I mean really
  23. Magic in general for me, especially when on TV. I haven't been amazed by it since I was about 6. Before end of the trick I'm already bored thinking about the magician having to practice the same illusion in his bedroom over and over again. The rabbit was always in the hat or up your sleeve because theres no other possible way and that's the end of it for me. The only way I could be blown away was if it was live infront of me and I was involved. Even then, if my mind was 'being read', well Derren Brown has ruined that illusion for me I did go to a magic show in spain a few months back and that was good. I liked the unlimited free alcohol the best. Growing up sucks
  24. I've played 7 league games with Villa and I'm third with 14 points, probably my best ever start on FM. The thing is Gabby has scored 1, Bent has scored any. N'Zogbia, Albrighton and Ireland haven't either. Dunne and Bassong (signed for £4m) have scored 11 between them and I'm pretty sure every single one of them has been from a header from a corner. I can't complain really, I'm scoring, but it just seems a bit odd
