  1. I went to watch Mad Max...my head, eyes and ears hurt...it was gloriously mental.

What's Sterling got to do with Pulis?

    The Overpaid 11

Pretty much all footballers are overpaid, it's not their fault, but they are.
  4. Maybe we should add a poll and have a VT PLAYER/young player of the season.
  5. If we win the cup with him in the team, he's a villa legend in my eyes if he stays or not. He's pretty much kept us up twice on his own, I almost want him to test himself at the highest level.
  6. I'm surprised its taken so long with the Adebayor link.

No fit strikers? It's only Sturridge that's been injured. Just because they've bought badly. Our strikers have had more injuries.

As much as I like to laugh at Liverpool Sterling is stupid. Ok don't sign the contract, but he's not worth £150K a week, unless he's been told he will be offered it. He's 20 not 27/28, he will play plenty of seasons of champions league, if he lives up to his potential, which I'm not necessarily convinced.
  9. I really don't get people talking about jumping the shark, they've gone back the the original pace of the show after last seasons fireworks. I think last season spoiled people, people forget season 2+3.
  10. A lot of people want to stop football players being emotional and human. They're not robots. Yeah he will get some stick over it, but none should be from Villa fans, I like the fact he's like that.
  11. 22 year old inexperienced centre backs are gonna have these types of games. It didn't help his experienced partner also had a nightmare beside him. Vlaar only really seems to play well with Baker or Senderos, he seems to struggle with Clark or Okore, I can understand Okore because he plays left, but Clark who knows.
  12. New centre half is a priority after signing Clev. Someone around 27-28 with decent experience. New left back, defensive mid, right sided forward.
  13. I would say he's showing weaknesses that's always been in his game. He's always played behind poor defences. I don't think that's nesseserly a freak of nature. I shit myself at every corner now, it takes me back to the McLeish era.

Houllier said Boateng made a meal of almost getting his leg broke in two.
  15. i think dropping Brad might do him some good, like Minulet (however the **** your spell it) at Liverpool. But as the start of next season he should be number 1. I think Givens been poor in his 3 league games, and shown to me he's not good enough as a number 1. Obviously in an ideal world I would like a new keeper, but it's way down the list if we can get Brad back to his best.
  16. Everyone was already aware that there's still work to do. Well today's result drives home the point. And I'm not sure if everyone was aware, there seemed to be an air of complacency, people calling for Lerner to stay and agreeing with Sherwood that even if the squad stayed the same going into next season then we wouldn't be in a relegation battle. He's still averaged 1.3333 points per game, which averages out to 50 points, but yeah we knew this team needs players.
  17. We're jumping ahead of ourselves here, but IF Jack does become world class, he won't be here for long, unfortunately. Villa fan or not.

I understand the debate with Lampard, but Keane is a different player...and better at his job.
  19. I think like Brian Little he had a team that worked. Once Little lost Gregory, it fell apart. Same with Lambert.

Gerrard played his best football under Rafa on the right or just behind Torres. Rafa never trusted him compleatly in the middle. He had more attributes in common with Beckham than Keane or Scholes, but Beckham had a decent first touch.
  21. The first season was all about survival after some dramatic turnover of players. We did that, and improved towards the end of the season. No one predicted 6th or 7th as a lot of people were predicting relegation from the start of the season. He did ok that season. Second season was about improving on that. He didn't we went backwards, mainly due to big injury problems. But all teams suffer from these, so not one signing made a difference. Should have got the sack, because McLeish got the sack after a similar season. And any Villa manager gaining less than 40 points should. No one predicted or hoped 6th or 7th, just improvement into lower midtable. This season was a mess. After stumbling to 3 wins in the first 4 games, I remember saying its a quarter the way to safety, and boy was I correct. The worst football probably played in the top flight ensured. 25-35% possession in every game with 3-4 shots a game was horrible to witness. This brought a change in philosophy. We started to dominate possession, but still created nothing as the players were keeping the ball in the area teams let us keep it. The lack of movement became more apparent the more we kept the ball. The players we're drilled to keep their shape, this was the most important part of the team. With lack of funds, and uncertainly about the club he kept his job as a convenience as the club was up for sale. I have no idea what the contract extension was all about. No one absolutely no one expected 6th or 7th. This was shocking and a mess on and off the pitch. And Tim is currently showing what a pigs ear he made of it too.
