  1. VAR did exactly what it was designed to do, make marginal calls using ambiguous information to manipulate the result. It is increasingly obvious that this is why it was implemented, to what end I don't know. Anyhow, Howard Webb calls Emery this morning and it all gets brushed under the carpet like the numerous terrible reviewed decision every week.
  2. Typical Villa but royally **** in a game that was likely to be tight until a goal was scored. Appalling officiating, VAR did what it is made for to interpret the laws and manipulate the outcome.
  3. Matter of time this, going to be hard to hold on if we concede. Look knackered against a really good team.
  4. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-arsenal-parachuting-santa-12313181.amp "After his accident in 1998, he married Sarah, the nurse who was caring for him at the rehabilitation centre at Headley Court in Epsom, Surrey, and the couple had twins Harry and Oliver."
  5. Don't think it was a terrible miss, a lot harder than it looked trying to put energy on a ball spinning off the bar, should have scored, could have dealt with the ball differently and scored. Other than embarrassing him, it didn't matter today. I love this guy.
  6. He married one of the Nurses who treated him and they've had twins, so he might see it as an overall positive in the end. Nigel Rogoff is his name.
  7. As soon as I hear his voice I remember the sleep talking videos that they did, hilarious they thought, cringeworthy in reality. He is a very loud man, on occasion when he has commentated on the u21s and I have been there early, he struts around with his voice booming out to people a few metres away and no sound to drown him out.
  8. I've never seen a player grab his hamstring as much as Kellyman does. Numerous times for the u21s he pulls up and looks for all the World like he'll need hooking but a few stretches later and he's after the ball again. Let's hope not too seriously hurt tonight.
  9. Maybe can, maybe can't stop them but you can equally say "no you're not staying at her house on your own". I think my issue is not kids being kids and trying things, it is the fact she is so young, the relationship is new and her Mum is blasé about it to the point of actively encouraging.
  10. Agreed on the type of relationship bring irrelevant and the pregnancy part whilst true is not the point. The daughter was 15 last week and the other girl is 16, they've been together a couple of months. I've made it clear I am not very impressed but as it is her house and her daughter I don't have any teeth. As you may gather I'm very uncomfortable with this and causing me a fair bit of stress around my relationship and how I am thinking about her. Absolutely agree that they may get up to things elsewhere but I think that is irrelevant. Just because people will do what they want, it doesn't mean if should be actively encouraged. The other girls parents don't seem bothered, Saturday night ended up a last minute thing because the Father (a DJ apparently) got a last minute gig and didn't want to leave the daughter alone. Somehow that ended up with her staying with us (I don't like the open house style either tbh). He is apparently aware that they are girlfriend and girlfriend because I asked my partner......Hoping she'd say "no", so I could point out the sleeping in the same room but and she'd say "I didn't think about it like that!" and put an end to it.....she didn't she trotted out "yeah, but nobody can get pregnant....." line.
  11. Can't find a better place for this I don't think. What age is it appropriate for your kid to have their girlfriend/boyfriend to stay and let them share a bed? Specifically in this case a lesbian relationship. It is not my daughter but my partners, I questioned my partner on it and she said "nobody is going to get pregnant", which, whilst accurate is not really the point.
  12. Other than a long ball, we are basically reliant on a Dougie shuffle, Kamara smashing someone or McGinn's arse turn to get behind the midfield and at the back four to give Diaby some space.
  13. Awful from Villa, but this referee is appalling, Forest physical and going allowed to get away with it. For their penalty appeal, surely if VAR had gone back they'd have broken their own rules. The ref blew his whistle and gave offside, there was no penalty decision to check.
  14. We don't know how good they are as they didn't really try to compete. Literally offered nothing in attack and looked like they'd hope for some kind of miracle and lots of luck for a 0-0 or accept a low scoring defeat which they ended up with. Standing off the opposition to remain in shape and disciplined is one thing, but standing still and doing nothing to press at anytime, anywhere is something different. The only thing I can say for Luton is that Villa, initially, had no idea what to do to counter their tactic but were able to pick them apart whenever an individual made a mistake. I've never seen a game like this in all the games at different levels I have watched up and down the country. Probably the worst game as a spectacle I have ever seen.
  15. Thoroughly enjoyed this today but massively overpriced for none season ticket holders. Food is OK, fairly basic but reasonable enough (burgers, hot dogs, chips, nachos, ice cream, doughnuts, pick and mix). Seating is pretty poor, a load of old knackered benches that wobble about anytime someone moves. Drinks seem easy enough to get, plenty of staff on the bar. I hope it was about full today as seating had run out in the last hour making it a bit uncomfortable in parts of the room. Meeting and having pictures with Allan Evans, Tony Morley and Kenny Swain was the highlight for me, they were more than happy and actually sat opposite me on the same table to eat. I was quite amused watching Tony Morley queuing for a burger and seemingly nobody around him knew who he was. Even more so when someone tried to sit opposite and gave me a vacant look when I told them it was Tony Morley's seat, they sat next to him and had no idea who he was. Seats were pretty crap right at the top of the Trinity not far off halfway. Great view but a bit disengaged for my liking. I only went in Lower Grounds today as it was my Daughters first proper game so we did it as a one off treat to mark the occasion.
  16. The club shop doesn’t sell scarves? How much do they cost from the street sellers?
  17. Taking my 9 year old daughter to her first game at VP. My first game was against Luton aged 10 in 1991......We lost 1-2. Lower Grounds, the only way I could get 2 tickets together, cost an arm and a leg so hoping she eats well!
  18. Is the food and drink before and after the game?
  19. I think she'd do her body weight in ice cream to be fair.
  20. Luton was going to be my 9 year old daughters first game at Villa Park, we're both very excited given that Luton was my first game aged 10 in 1991. Problem is, I can't get 2 tickets together meaning this at (gulp) £192 is my only option. I can sort of justify it given that it will be a special occasion of sorts but a hefty price!
  21. Not played for a few versions but just bought a new PC partly to play this. Assuming that Bellingham is going to be incredible.
