He has only requested a transfer to push through a deal though. If he didn't then West Ham would have to pay him a 'loyalty bonus' when he leaves but by going on the list by request he has effectively waived his right to this fee. Still, based on the rumours over the last few weeks from various sources, I would be suprised if we were not very keen on signing him.

No, but you don't often have players going for talks and not making the press somewhere, signing or not. There is no reason to doubt this but sceptically, there is no reason for it to be true.

Each franchise has a salary cap don't they? New players (from College) are signed via a draft, the order of which is determined by previous seasons finish (reverse order). Players are also traded between teams but I think this is either as a 'free transfer' or traded for positions or picks in the draft.

I can assure you that Marlon is definetly a Londoner. He came through the Forest youth sides but he was originally from London. I'm not sure I understand why everyone is so upset that we may/may not be interested in him. OK he's not a superstar, but he is a decent player. Don't forget the transfer window has another 28 days to run. If he signs tomorrow, it doesn't mean he is the only player being signed, perhaps we can't get the striker we want for a reasonable fee, perhaps the rest of the budget is earmarked for top draw players in other positions. Lets face it, we need at least one player in every position on the park. Sit back, enjoy the ride and hopefully we'll be in decent shape come February 1st, if not as long as we finish above the relegation places, wait until the summer.
