  1. I see talkshite have got access to newsnow in their 'nerve center' laughable 'journalism'
  2. For me, the remit next season is to -Finish in the top 8 -Keep hold of our best players in January -Play attractive football I'm not expecting the new man to achieve great things but I think Sven can achieve these 3 main objectives Bonus would be -Have a good cup run -Do the double over the scum -Finish in the top 4 -Sign some exciting talent Again, Sven would have a decent chance of achieving a couple of these
  3. It's the safe bet on a football forum. Most managers fail which is why so many leave their job each year. You'll find these posters never offer concrete, realistic alternatives.
  4. Sven is a proven club manager who can handle some of the bigger names we have at them moment. I don't think he will necessarily take us into the top 4 but in the short to medium term he seems the best choice* I think we'll play some decent stuff under Sven and he will have a stabilising influence on the club. The players will relish playing under him after the stricter regime of O'Neill. More relieved that it looks like it wont be Bradley, Curbishley or Southgate *(discounting Jol. By all accounts Jol only flirted with Fulham to gain more control of transfers at Ajax. He's got his way so is staying for the time being)
  5. I think this is worth highlighting. I don't know an awful lot about the NFL but I get the impression that a lot of the Brown's woes are down to the disastrous reign of GM Phil Savage who had never been a GM at any level before. Hopefully Randy will not pick the equally inexperienced (at this level) Bradley
  6. If Grayson is a good shout I'd hate to hear what the question was. "Who would be a better candidate for the Villa job than Bob **** Bradley?"
  7. Sven for me We're not going to challenge the top four so attractive football is the main aim and I think Sven can deliver it with the squad we have got Jol was only strangthening his position at Ajax when he flirted with Fulham and I can't see any of the other glitterati coming, I'd be looking forward to the season if Sven came. I'd be in utter **** despair if we appoint bob **** Bradey. Would prefer Simon Grayson to him. I'd probably prefer to see Larry Grayson in charge
  8. That would be **** brilliant, just to see the knuckledragging scum's faces :-) I already wound up the dogshit fan who broke the news to me by suggesting he only has a one year rolling contract and has already turned his back on his country for a bigger job offer. Wiped the smirk of their sorry excuse for a face. Joking aside, he seems to be by far the best candidate (discounting the likes of jol hiddink etc who wouldn't touch us with a bargepole)
  9. Bob Bradley!? Suddenly Curbishley seems an attractive option. Staff recruitment seems to be Lerner's biggest weakness. He's not done well (to put it midly) at the Browns and has already gone through a few CEOs at the Villa
  10. Been listening to the Random Movement podcasts pretty much on loop this week. This is probably my favourite tune on there
  11. Of the films I've watched recently: Great : Au Bout De Souffle Good: The Adventures of Robin Hood, Glengarry Glen Ross, Hurt Locker OK: Blade Runner
  12. Cup. Even if we finish in the top 4, we wont generate anything like the matchday revenue of the other sides up there necessary to make the kind of signings people envisage.
  13. saggy tits was in the indie today stating that they desperately needed a 60k stadium
  14. Are the white dots carboard cut out fans to make it look like there are people watching? Think there was more people at the all-sparkhill-table-football final the year before they got rid of the table in favour of a pool table
  15. Matthew Norman: The least inspiring contest ever
  16. Al Central nicely poised with the White Sox half a game off Detroit. Good to see Konerko make it onto the All-Star roster Looks like it's 102 years and counting for the Flubs
  17. I'm going to watch it on BBC but only because it is slightly less dire than ITV. It baffles me that ITV still employ clive tyldesley. I don't know anyone who likes him - even the 'wear your replica sky4 shirt to dress down Friday' plastic fans at work. Lawrenson is only slightly more bearable. Stick someone like the late Brian Moore on ITV and I would switch over. Even Jim Proudfoot on Talksh!te would be preferable.
  18. Why I liked them moving the comment into the pullout is that they beefed up the section, adding a few essays into the bargain. There's definitely a lot more content since the buyout and I don't think the quality as suffered (well, so far anyway). I'm not a great fan of Burchill but, then again, I wasn't a big fan of Janet Street Porter either (have you seen the bile/shite she now writes in the Mail?). There are enough good commentators to get me by.
  19. This covers it for me. Oh how I'd love Skyscum to go bust. Teams would have to live within their means. Games would be on Saturday at 3pm, and if you couldn't go away you'd listen to the radio
  20. Thing is you've gone from saying that any controversial decision could be solved with a thirty second replay to dropping out of the debate because you cannot explain clearly how you would implement this process without opening it up to all sorts of abuse. Therin lies the problems with a challenge system. It would be abused and it would not be fair however you tinker with it. You would still be left with controversy (on top of an inferior product.) For example, imagine the Manchester derby. The score is 0-0 in the last minute. Utd take a corner, City clear and score on the break. City fans go wild. Ferguson issues a challenge and the video ref notices a slight shirt pull on Vidic in the penalty area from the original corner. City's goal is wiped out and Utd score is the penalty to win the game. I can't see this as being a better system
  21. Read the synopsis of this. It sounds very much like like the All Souls exam!
  22. If we can get 30 million net with only a small negative effect on the club, then it will be a good deal. If the sale destablisies us, causes O'Neill to walk and/or long term player unrest then I don't think it will be worth it. It did the power of good for the club to stand up to Liverpool over the Barry saga
  23. By all accounts they've already offered £25 million (£20 million plus addons) I doubt this is true but if it is then Milner will be staying
  24. It's a strange one. I'd answer Villa (over the Republic) but when someone asks me what the greatest moment of my life was, I usually cite Ray Houghton's goal against Italy in '94
