  1. Thinking of going on the trains Via Banbury and a coach to Oxford. Anyone know if the coaches from Banbury to Oxford are regular and if I get them from outside the train station? I've done this route once before after slammin' Vinyl at the old sanctuary so my memory of it is hazy!
  2. If we had Rooney on the form he is in this season, coupled with our wingers and solid defence, then yes we would be challengers. It's a big big big "if" though
  3. Thought the lads gave it their all but were undone by a great finish from a great player (and a shite referee!). As for Wembley, reminds me of a bigger Riverside Stadium (minus that crappy tune).
  4. It was always going to be a tough game. O'Neill was correct in playing a near full-strength side. We had the experience on the pitch to up our game once they equalised. However, if we had taken our chances in the 1st half, we could have had a much easier 2nd half. Some of our build up play was excellent. Cuellar was good but gave away a few needless freekicks in dangerous positions. MOTM - Ashley Young.
  5. Plenty of end of season games if were not in the hunt for 4th and have already qualified for Europe :winkold: I wouldn't jeopardise our season for the sake of giving him a run out, espescially as we have 3 better central defenders who should be able to cover the remaining games between them comfortably
  6. Can't believe so many are considering Davies! I think the lad will come good but to throw him in against a Championship side could cost us and potentially wreck his confidence.
  7. Same team that played the weekend except L Young for one of Cuellar/Collins/Warnock and Delfouneso/Delph for Heskey. We need to win to keep the momentum going. A loss at this stage could completely wreck our season in just 4 days. Dunne is an absolute must since Palace looked most dangerous from direct balls and corners (cue "same as Villa" joke...). I'm very much from the school of thought that a winning team does not tire
  8. Enjoyed innocently whistling "That's Amore" in earshot of the noses today The Putney end looked barely 1/4 full in the away corner on MOTD yesterday
  9. They were loud for a home crowd to be fair. For anyone interested - Raidshare links here
  10. Really enjoyed a cracking cup tie today. I think it was a decent performance and we showed resilience to come away still in the hat for the quaters. Credit to Palace and their fans for almost dumping us out. I think we were the better team overall. We had 4 efforts flash inches by the post, Ash falling over when in on goal and a last ditch tackle to thwart Carew. We definitely deserved something out of the tie (and I was bloody pleased we did!) As for comments regarding 4-5-1. To me, we played 4-4-1-1 in the fist half with Ash playing behind Heskey. 2nd half, was more 4-5-1 with Milner playing centrally but a lot deeper.
  11. Why did the Scottish not kick off straight into touch when Wales levelled the scores? Would it not have ended the game (as time was up)?
  12. I don't think we should rest too many. Certainly none of the defenders. This is a tough away game at a good championship side who see this competition as their last chance of glory this season. You can't make 8 or 9 changes and expect a side to function effectively as a team. Delfouneso, Delph and Albrighton in for Downing, Heskey and Petrov (from the starting 11 at Spurs).
  13. Really poor performance after they went down to 10 men. Friedel superb. Tonight, the joy is in the other results
  14. Spurs are a massive club because only Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, Everton, Aston Villa, Sunderland, Newcastle United, Sheffield Wednesday, Huddersfield Town, Leeds United (*takes a breath*), Wolverhampton Wanderers, Blackburn Rovers & Chelsea have won more league titles than them.
  15. It's not though. Glaston's figures are based on the meejia's gross figures. It does not take into account signing on fees, loyalty bonuses , structure of repayments, agent fees, sell on clauses (Diarra!), accrued wages (etc) Take Michael Turner. He was reportedly sold for 7 million, yet Hull only received 2.5 million net. I doubt the final profit on these 4 transfers would be anywhere near 40 million net.
  16. My neck is strained watching all the long balls played up to crouch.
  17. Wouldn't want them to get to the Birmingham Senior Cup final, let alone the F A Cup final.
  18. 40 million Janko? Boyd? Adriano? Kenwyne Jones? Babel? Boselli? Shevchenko? Dindane? McGeady? Nugent? errrrr......no
  19. Dunne purely because of Laursen's injury record. I think Laursen would still shine in a poor defence. I think back to his performance in the 3-2 win at Goodison where his commitment to the cause kept us in the game. Dunne seems to be playing on another level at Villa. I've seen him play well for The Republic and Man City but never this well.
  20. Not long back. Great result and a really professional job to keep the lead in the second half. They gave planty of space to Cuellar and I'm glad he picked the pass for the second goal. Dunne was immense - reduced the Fulham strikers to anonymity.
  21. Still some 5 quid chilterns available for the way there (arriving 3pm) Getting Virgin train back for 18 quid
  22. Dion's penalty sending us through to the FA cup final
  23. Ha ha - they were so bitter today. Only had to walk in with my flag to be greeted with howls of abuse. Sometimes it's worth putting up with the smell of them just to appreciate being one of the chosen ones
