  1. I think the double negative ‘wouldn’t not’ suggests that he *would* welcome us turning down a bid, which is different to what the rest of your post implies? Hence the difficult to understand your post. But I know what you meant. However, when you sign a contract, you are not entitled to be unhappy about your club not accepting offers. If you wanted that get out, then you (or your agent) should have requested a minimum fee release clause.
  2. Makes sense. Either we need them now, and it’s cheaper to buy those in the twilight of their career but proven quality, or we get those with potential to be great in a year or 3 when the 29yr olds will be retiring. The good 22-27 year olds are very very expensive because you’re paying for proven ability for next 5-10 years.
  3. Yh I agree he played well. Admittedly I haven’t seen the game back on TV yet, but at the ground he didn’t seem ‘exceptional ‘ to me. I’ll need to watch the game back I think.
  4. From who? It’s very unusual for a player on the losing team to get MOTM? Edit: Premier league site has official MOTM as Leon Bailey?

That’s stupid. so one owner could come in, spend a gazillion, then sell the club to his brother, who could pay off that debt and carry on? What a joke of a system

I know the idea behind the long contracts and ffp… but imagine Mudryk doesn’t work out and they’re paying 8.5 years of some ridiculous wage? Would love it.
  7. Well, nor do mine? It’s all about opinions.
  8. I acknowledged that in my post. I’m not for a minute saying that he was indeed man of the match. But there’s things happening that your eyes won’t tell you. What I would say is that he certainly wasn’t the worst player on the pitch. If we are serious about Europe only Martinez and Kamara are safe from needing upgrading.
  9. Some people just have an agenda. Some people don’t understand that sometimes doing a job for your team is more important than doing a job for yourself. Some people will see a cat, and argue that it’s a dog day after day after day, and no matter what they are told, nothing will change their mind. It is easier to smile and wave at these people, and just carry on with your life. Now obviously using statistics alone is not necessarily the most accurate way to judge a player. And obviously it is very much dependent on algorithms used. What I would say though is that at-least it is based on a consistent, un-prejudiced way to make an assessment. so: About WhoScored.com Ratings Our player ratings are based on each event recorded in the game calculated live automatically using our own algorithms, which comprise over 200 raw statistics. All events are valued based on a researched perception of the effect on the outcome on the match. Positive events are valued against negative events. A statistical analysis suggests: Do I think he was man of the match? No. But do I think I’d give more value to their statistical non-prejudiced assessment than some dude on the internet that posts anti-Buendia stuff at regular 6 minute intervals?
  10. Exactly. It’s the endeavour they bring.
  11. Nah man, honestly remember watching him thinking ‘this guy is incredible’, and thinking that between him hand ESR they had a very healthy future in midfield. Was quite surprised no one went in for him from the PL when Arsenal off loaded him, but I think that might have been an Arsenal stipulation not to sell to rivals.
  12. This guy is just sooooo good. He is going to be an absolute superstar. Best player on the pitch every single game.
  13. It’s amazing how many football watchers don’t understand that the 8 minutes added on at the end more than made up for it. If emi wants to chill a little before kicking the ball, let him chill a little before kicking the ball.
  14. I 1000% agree. It is surprising how thick your average person is.
  15. My maths was clearly shit. 20 premier league games left, of which he is banned for 3. He’s played 1/2, so 17.5 games. They reckon the package is worth £15m for fees and wages. So about £620k per pl match, and £860k fee+wages per match.
  16. 18 games remaining, 3 he’s banned for. 15.5 games max 11,000,000 / 15.5 = £710,000 per PL match IF he plays every match from now. God Chelsea ‘is’ dumb
  17. Nope. from the FA guidance for players booklet 2022-2023, page 9 https://www.thefa.com/-/media/files/thefaportal/governance-docs/player-essentials/2022-23/essential-information-for-players-2022-23-english.ashx ‘Serious foul play’ is the best description for this scenario.

It’s all ffp scamming bullshit. Players amortised over the length of their contract, big clubs doing each other favours. we should start signing players on 100 year contracts. That way we can say a £100m player is only costing us £1m per year. Pay the player a normal wage for the first 5 years then £1000 per week for the remaining 95 years. Have a contract termination clause to allow us or the player to end it any time after 8 years. Get 25 of these players and win a bunch of stuff all within FFP rules. yh, give me Purslow’s job.
  19. I believe I agree with everything you said except the part between ‘think’ and ‘sure’. But I could change my mind, although I haven’t decided yet.
  20. This. As much as I hoped he’d get a chance, I don’t think it’s gonna happen. Even if he is better than the starters, he’s not going to be much of an upgrade. We need to be looking for bigger upgrades. Get a fee and move him on.
  21. Why is this thread still here?
  22. He’s a quality player. He was quality at Arsenal too. Get him in.
