    I think he has the attributes to be a good striker. There was a period under Ancelotti where he was clearly better than Watkins was at that time. Everton have had dogshit managers since then whilst Emery has made Watkins into a real star. I guess it shows the value of a good management team.

    Liverpool had a similar down time for many years between their 80s success and their recent resurgence under Klopp but retained a massive fan base. I don’t see Man U going away as a ‘brand’ anytime soon.

    I think the way those people see it they consider it ‘pandering’ to a minority at the expense of the majority. Though there are probably as many definitions as there are people with grievances.

    I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the three teams who have a chance at the title all have managers who are disliked by rival fans.

    How does a new manager get a chance at a top club? The biggest clubs can’t just keep trading managers amongst each other surely? At some point they will pick a manager who hasn’t already managed at a top club. Sometimes it’s ex players who get a chance way before their time. At least Di Zerbi has done well with a club on the next tier down.

    They obviously cancel each other out to a certain extent. You watch either of these against a mid table side and suddenly the gulf in class shows.

    Sky don’t give a **** but they know that at any one time a large chunk of their audience are Man U fans (or some other ‘big 6’ club). They are just playing to the biggest portion of the crowd who ultimately buy their subscriptions.
