  1. Very true. It sort of gets to me reading the wall to wall negativity where everything is painted in black. To me, the logical conclusion becomes that if he is as bad as described it reflects very poorly on how this organization is run. And I don’t want that to be true.
  2. Most likely true. Although it matters little as they have so much money they will overtake everyone sooner or later, as long as their owners maintain interest. They'll probably by the foremost English team in football within 10 years if not sooner.
  3. AHA! so the little Scouse **** has a clue after all!? You lying bastards, I knew it!
  4. That said, I'd love to have a manager that actually makes it enjoyable to support us. **** this noice.
  5. So if he faked his degree and experience you just go 'oh well'? Because that is implied with Gerrard. That he has NO CLUE, is a fraud. If I hired someone like that, I'd be put the door in a minute.
  6. At the very least rip through every nook and cranny of this club and root out any lingering stench of whatever made them decide on this alleged clown as manager. Who the **** vetted his tactical philosophy? Analyzed his previous teams? Was Purslow the only one to interview?
  7. I mean wtf? It has been established throughout general consensus that Gerrard has close to no redeeming feature, is an absolutely clueless buffoon, and your reaction to his appointment is that it'll be fine as long as hes sacked? Really? Just do chance it and do it again?
  8. No. If he truly is a fraud, we've been seriously had and the club must change or die.
  9. This is like me going 'yrah, I hired a programmer that actually don't know how to actually write code, but I'll learn!' This is nothing short of a club ending disaster of he truly is as clueless as people claim. And that is NOT just on Gerrard. That is dereliction of duty.
  10. Because Gerrard is generally considered a fraud and a clown now. That reflects on the club and it's ability to hire competent people. I really can't fathom people can't grasp that. If he is as disastrous as described, we are ****.
  11. Considering the general consensus on Gerrard a, I truly fear what they'd conjure up next, if Gerrard is as awful as suspected. They certainly won't have the ability to bring in a Poch or Potter.
  12. As Swede that have seen him in the national team, I am a bit baffled as to the fee. But I'm not a manager or top level coach though. But my flabber is somewhat gasted by that signing tbh.
  13. Really? He isn't THAT influential, is he?

    Arsenal

Indeed. Very true. Looking on from the outside things seem deceptively simple, but reality is surely different.
  15. Holy shit, I just realized Isak is more expensive than Jesus. Either a genius move by Arsenal or Newcastle just got mugged.
  16. As a Swede, I don't really get the fee to be honest. I haven't been following Isak, I know heuhad some decent games for the national team, but my initial reaction when hearing the money was 'wtf?'. He's kinda' slender too, but as I said, I haven't really paid much attention to him for quite some time. In any case, Newcastle will soon fight for all the trophies in existence, so no point in comparing ourselves to them. They will begin to outdistance the middle and lower table pack quite soon, then they'll slowly start gaining on the top. Bad for the game, good for Newcastle fans. Top 6-7 on a regular basis will require a herculean effort for the likes of us.
  17. Ohhh, good topic! I think it is the combination of technical skill with the ability to see lines and patterns of play others do not, creating an element of surprise in a pass or move. Look at Haaland for example, and the runs he is capable of to create space for himself and others. That is amazing creativity without the ball. You need vision to actually see those. And as @Jas10mentioned, creativity can be seen in a collective as well in build up play. Going the slow and steady route demands something incisive at a moment when the opponent has grown tired, lost concentration or has had it's shape pulled apart by movement. It takes creativity to realize when that momenthas come and release the ball into the right space. One of the best things to do if you want to cultivate creativity is to allow mistakes. Make players comfortable with trying to express themselves without fear of repercussions and they will do it more often. Coaches must encourage players to utilize their strengths. This is something Swedish hockey is trying to encourage. Letting kids and youth players play to their strengths instead of trying to make them great at everything, because that rarely works. If someone is a great dribbler, let him or her dribble. A great shooter? Encourage them to shoot! That way they will develop their strengths even further and truly stand out. It's the same with creativity in general. It has to be allowed to be expressed, or the player will just shrink and not even dare to try. I think our standout creatives are Coutinho and Buendia from what I've seen so far.

    Douglas Luiz

Yeah, he was. I just hate footballers falling over to get the call. Especially in that are close to goal in a defensive transition. But he should have gotten the call. Ith sides were pissed at the ref team. Can't believe they flagged Watkins offside from our half.

    Douglas Luiz

Haha, that’s awesome! Happy for him. I think he did well today. But was it him that fell over before their goal?
  20. Wouldn’t the WC break be better timing so a new guy could work a bit with those not traveling to it?
  21. That the same poster said he had no footballing skills yet picked the best footballers so he could win and not be sacked.
  22. I know. I have the same reservations, and my point on timing still stands. It is obvious he, as most managers, will have to go at a point where it’s appropriate. I have to trust them to think ‘it looks shit, but the boys love him, and we’re just three games in, they’ll collapse if we chuck him now’. I have to believe the club has that sort of professionalism to know when it is time. If I don’t have that belief, we go all in on my first paragraph, because that means they appointed and held on to a clown that is not fit to ,an age a hotdog stand. And tote ramifications of that is that Aston Villa will be mismanaged to death. I cannot believe we are there yet, because that would **** kill me. Yet every thread on here is about how absolutely clueless the man is, that he is beyond any redemption and that he is, in fact, the worst Villa manager in history that has turned the players against, he doesn’t know what tactics are. Yet our club have let him stay on FOR A YEAR?! I cannot yet let go of the slight hope the we are not that poorly run, because if we are… If we are, we are in very, very serious trouble. There is much more than relegation at stake if that is true.
  23. So he picked a team that was too good? This argument doesn’t even make sense for a man devoid of footballing ideas. How did he identify who to play?
  24. This could absolutely true. And if it is, what does that tell you about the club in general that he is still around, when he is the most clueless football manager in the modern era. Do you understand the absolutely devastating qonsequences of that being true? Aston Villa FC will soon be a distant memory if what you just wrote is true. Gone. Consider this; what if the players actually enjoy playing for him? What if they trust and like him? How would the squad react if they sacked him now? Again, I am not saying I love or even believe in him, but right now people are making stuff up out of fear, and make those fear into reality. We either trust the club to do what is right as they have the information advantage over us. It’s really that simple. He will be gone if he can’t do this.
  25. It’s not about defending Gerrard. I see very few people do that, even less claiming results or performances are good. It’s about trusting the club to do the right thing at the right time. If they can’t do that when they have so much more info and context compared to us, we are **** no matter what. I doubt he’ll turn it around. I hope he does. I DO KNOW the people in charge will send him packing if that is actually the case.
