I really want this one to happen, even if he is the only midfielder we bring in. Knows the league, knows how to play with our best midfielder, nice age, reasonable price considering all factors.

I can’t lie to you guys, I really don't know very much about this Jhon Durán, having watched very little of him play. However what i do know is that he is the greatest footballer in Colombian history, he's scoring 30 goals next season, winning player of the year and he's taking us to the Champions League!

I’m trying to stay grounded, while the results in the league have been fantastic I think as has shown in a few of the performances, we are still at the very early stage of things under Unai. I’d take a 10th place finish right now, it’s all about getting things together to hit the ground running in August for me.

I know there are one or two concerns, not necessarily with Emery as such, but with giving the manager control. Normally I would agree, but I believe 100% that we have the right man in charge.

He’s probably my favourite Villa player. While I’m sad that he left the club the way he did, he was the best player in the best side we’ve had in the last 20 years imo.

Unai has played the old “I want to break up, but we can still have sex now if you want” card. Nice, I bet he does it in such a way that you’re apologising to him for letting him down.

I don’t buy into this whole “The Premier League, the best League in the world” stuff, but there are some players who’s skill set allows them to be very successful here and it just seems that Leon Bailey is one of those not made for the PL. I could see him going back to the Bundesliga. I think he will be gone by August at the latest.

Isn’t it ridiculous? I know you were as excited about this signing as I was, he’s an absolute shadow of the player he was at Leverkusen. I’d take Bertie back in a second, even with his once a game suicide ball!

I’m finally at the realisation that we’re not going to get the guy who I used to watch tear it up for Bayer Leverkusen. He may show the odd glimpse, but he’s just not suited to PL football imo. I’ve run out of excuses for why he isn’t performing, his position has no bearing over him not being able to beat his man, being slow and not being able to shoot straight. I’m gutted as I was over the moon when we signed him, but some deals just don’t work out. If he doesn’t move on this month, I’m pretty sure he will be gone in the summer.

I am of the opinion that whoever Unai wants to bring in is good enough for me, whether that is Harry Maguire or anybody else. I trust his judgment 100%. Also seeing how Unai has helped improve/resurrect the form of Konsa and Mings in such a short space of time, I have no doubt he could do the same for Harry Maguire. If it’s affordable, then it’s a yes from me.

But how many teams are going to come to Villa Park and sit deep from minute 1? At present he’s more ideal to come off the bench as the game progresses and the opposition start to sit deeper imo.

I’d be very reluctant to sell him in the January window, his goals to minutes ratio has been good, very good in fact. Goals in this league are priceless. If he is indeed happy to come off the bench in a lot of games then he is definitely worth keeping - for every Spurs type performance that won’t necessarily need him, there will be a Wolves type performance that does.

I do not believe for one second that Unai Emery takes the Villa job with “limited funds available “.

See this was the first time in over a decade that I did not panic one bit when the board went up. It could’ve had 17 minutes on it, we were not losing our hold on the game.
